FULL STORY ======================================================================
On September 26, 2001 a director from Finland ( Hannu Puttonen ) released an hour-long documentary covering the early days of Linux.
That documentary, The Code , is available to watch on YouTube . And I
highly recommend watching it in its entirety if you havent seen it before.
While there wont likely be any bombshell revelations or surprises for most long-term readers of The Lunduke Journal, it is still highly interesting to see many of the individuals interviewed talk about things from the point of view of the time. Including:
Richard M Stallman
Eric S Raymond
Jon Maddog Hall
Theodore Tso
Alan Cox
Bob Young (founder of Red Hat, and co-founder of Linux Journal magazine which I got to be Deputy Editor of many years later)
And, of course, Linus Torvalds and many more
In one rather interesting portion (at a little after the 19 minute mark ),
The Code director managed to get ahold of video from the March 30th, 1994 Press Conference held at the University of Helsinki for the release of
Linux kernel version 1.0.
Works like this are incredibly important to document these points in history.
Truly appreciate everyone who took part in the filming.
If you enjoy Linux history and, of course you do, youre only human I highly recommend watching The Complete History of Linux (Abridged) among some of the other videos available here at The Lunduke Journal .
