between seasons 2 and 3, unlike between 1 and 2 Season 3 broke records for
the BBC; episode one had 8.7 million views As of February 2026, the writer David Farr, is only beginning the process of the writing While the cast is
yet to be confirmed, it's likely that Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role of Jonathan Pine, as will Hugh Laurie as Richard Roper, while Farr is said he's keen to see a return from Indira Varma (playing Mayra Cavendish), Sally (Hayley Squire) and Danny (Noah Jupe) Season 3 is seen as the last part of
The Night Manager trilogy The plot will focus on what Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) told Pine on a voicemail, that there's "something beyond Roper,
theres a bigger game plan, and I have the name" It's unlikely that we'll see the next series before 2028, though no official dates have been given yet
Fans of The Night Manager or indeed, fans of Tom Hiddleston playing a career-best role as smooth secret agent Jonathan Pine will be pleased to
know that, after a 10-year gap between season 1 and 2, that a third series
has been commissioned and will come sooner than that. It was actually first confirmed back in April 2024, when the BBC and Amazon announced that series 2 and series 3 had been given the go-ahead at the same time . But theres even better news now, as the shows writer David Farr has confirmed that there wont be a decade-long gap between the seasons. Speaking with Esquire , Farr said: There's definitely a sense of urgency this time. We're not going to
wait 10 years. You may like The Night Manager season 2: release schedule, trailer, cast, plot, and what else we know How to watch The Night Manager season 2 stream long-awaited return of the spy thriller for free The Night Manager season 2 review: Tom Hiddleston's return is better than ever

Season 2 of the John le Carr-created character became a record-breaking show for the BBC when it aired in January 2026. The first episode drew in 8.7 million views in 28 days, making it the biggest debut drama episode since 2023.

With S2 primarily set in Colombia, Pine faced adversaries in the shape of arms-dealing criminal boss Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva), his girlfriend
Roxy (Camila Morrone), and some old enemies from the past popped up to surprise him. But with the series ending with some shock deaths and a cliffhanger, heres everything you need to know about The Night Manager season 3; including release date, cast and potential plot. But writing and shooting the new series is going to be time consuming, so wed imagine were unlikely to see it on screens until 2028.

As to what stage the production has reached as of February 2026, Farr told Esquire : We're in the process and then my mouth is zipped. I'm not allowed
to say anything. We are in the writing process and excited to finish the
story because it will be the last one of this particular thing. Get daily insight, inspiration and deals in your inbox Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. Will s3 be as steamy
as s2? (Image credit: BBC) The Night Manager season 3: expected cast If you know, you know: the fate of Angela Burr in s2 (Image credit: BBC) Spoilers
    for season 2 ahead!

While there are no confirmed castings at this moment, its easy to take a good stab at who will return. Although Pine was last seen staggering, heavily wounded, out of the guerilla HQ, its pretty inconceivable that theyll kill
him off, so its safe to assume that Hiddleston will be back as his iconic secret agent in season 3.

The same goes for old Dickie Roper (Hugh Laurie) and his son, Danny (Noah Jupe). At the end of season 2, after his dastardly plans went through, Roper was seen picking up Danny from school, presumably to embed him in the family arms-dealing business. so far

Farr told Entertainment Weekly : The only thing I would say is that Roper's other son, Danny, who was in the last scene of the second season I think Noah Jupe is a very special young actor. And I think there's more to come from him as a character, and I'm looking forward to that.

Evil River House boss Mayra Cavendish (Indira Varma) got away with literal murder in this series, despite being so close to being outed for the villain she is; so shell definitely be making a comeback. On Cavendish, Farr told Radio Times that the next chapter will delve deeper into what really drives her and suggested she would be a key figure. He added: "I think you've got some indications ambition and patriotism, I think, are both clearly present in what she's about. But I think there's much more to come from her."

Pines chief assistant, Sally (Hayley Squire) will also likely be playing a
key part in the mission to take down Roper again Farr told Variety that he has a strong desire for Sallys return. He called Sally a really exciting and beautiful character and said bringing her back would be a great way to honor Angela.

Speaking of Angela Burr (British national treasure Olivia Colman), well, unless its in flashbacks, shes not going to be making an appearance, seeing
as she was brutally murdered in front of her young daughter in rural France
in the final episode of season 2.

The same goes for Teddy, although the TeddyPine chemistry was an undeniable hit with the fans, there were screams ringing out worldwide when viewers watched Roper murder his own son in cold blood. So unfortunately, that means its a no for Diego Calvas return to the cast list too.

One previous cast members return hasnt been ruled out yet, which is Roper/Pines ex-girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki), whom both characters discussed in an episode in season 2. When Esquire asked the writer whether theyd approached her yet about a possible return, Farr said: No, we haven't
as yet. That yet is doing some heavy lifting

Other guest stars and cameos will be announced in due course, and well keep you updated as to who they are. The Night Manager season 3: potential plot Mayra Cavendish (Indira Varma) lives on to cause even more mayhem (Image credit: BBC) The ending of season two sets everything up nicely for the final part of the trilogy: with Roper continuing his deranged plans to arm guerilla gangs, cause political uprisings and instability and profit off all the misery. Classic Roper! But after he murdered his illegitimate son in Colombia who was doing all his running and fixing, he needs a new son to groom up to take his place, and sadly that looks set to be Danny.

Theres also not only Burrs murder to be avenged Pine doesnt yet know shes been killed, so that revelation and the grief of that act will surely play a large part of s2 but cast your mind back to right before Burr is shot in the finale episode; she tells Pine on a voicemail that shes been digging into
some files, and theres something beyond Roper, theres a bigger game plan, and I have the name

Farr points out that that murder takes place days after her own showdown with Cavendish, but she used her last days on Earth well as in that time, and I'm afraid you'll have to wait for season three, but in that time, she is not inactive. So its fair to assume season 3 will be Pine unmasking the person
who is Ropers overlord (and hopefully finally seeing Ropers comeuppance). The Night Manager: the future Riding off into the sunset? (Image credit: BBC)
Farr has said previously that he views The Night Manager as a trilogy series, adding to Esquire that: It will be the last one of this particular thing.

When asked if he thinks theres life beyond the trilogy he said: That would be a different conversation. That's not the one at the moment I'm interested in.

But given the huge international success of The Night Manager seasons 1 and
2, its not hard to see the BBC and Amazon requesting even more follow up series. What does that look like?
