7 new horror movies on Prime Video, Shudder, HBO Max, and more in November 2025

    Description:
There's plenty of horror to enjoy throughout November, including a Christmas horror movie.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

You've no doubt devoured some of the October horror movies already, and I'm happy to report the scares keep coming as there's a packed month ahead.

Those of you counting down the days until the holiday season are in for a treat, as Christmas horror movies have already started rolling out across the best streaming services .

Don't worry, there's plenty for Scrooges too, and I'm really impressed with this month's offerings. Here's what caught my eye for November. I Know What You Did Last Summer

    When: November 1
Where: Netflix (US); rent or buy (UK); Paramount+ (AU)

You can't beat a classic slasher movie, and I Know What You Did Last Summer remains as entertaining as ever. I love the cast too, as Jennifer Love
Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Johnny Galecki all make a great ensemble.

The movie centers on four teenage friends who are stalked by a hook-wielding killer. A year ago, they covered up a car accident that reportedly killed a man, and someone knows about it. That's a terrifying way to spend your
    summer. The Purge: Anarchy

    When: November 1
Where: Netflix (US); rent or buy (UK; AU)

As far as horror sequels go, The Purge: Anarchy is very good indeed. It's
also 11 years old if you want to feel old. I can't believe it's been that
long since The Purge first landed on our screens.

If you're in the mood for some bleak, dystopian dread, what better place to start than here? It actually scored higher critically than its predecessor; it's always interesting when that happens.

Following the same government sanction that makes crime legal for 12 hours, including murder, a sergeant who lost his son plans a vigilante mission of revenge during the mayhem. I really love this one. Child's Play

    When: November 1
    Where: Prime Video (worldwide)

Both versions of Child's Play are on Prime Video this month, so whether you watch the original 1988 movie or the 2019 remake is up to you. Funnily
enough, they have the exact same Rotten Tomatoes score of 64%, so maybe
you'll want to watch them both.

As the first movie in the Chucky franchise, you'll uncover his origin story
no matter which route you go down. When the character first came on the scene in the 80s, we saw dying murderer Charles Lee Ray using black magic to put
his soul inside the doll, and the rest is history. The Poughkeepsie Tapes

    When: November 1
    Where: Prime Video (worldwide)

Widely regarded as one of the nastiest found footage movies out there, this one isn't for the faint-hearted. With its low-budget VHS aesthetic and realistic-looking scenes, this might be the grittiest recommendation of the bunch.

If you're curious, the plot centers on a serial killer's murders, with his crimes told through interviews and footage of his murders, which he filmed
and kept for himself. It's a disturbing watch, but has gained notoriety for good reason. House of 1000 Corpses

    When: November 1
Where: HBO Max (US); Shudder (UK); Stan (AU)

Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses bombed critically, but I think you should give the black comedy horror a go. It's not quite as bad as the critics
claim, especially if you enjoyed Zombie's other work.

Here, we follow a group of teenagers who are kidnapped and tortured by a psychopathic family during Halloween. This movie has a cult following and was even turned into an attraction at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, so it's worth trying out. Abrahams Boys: A Dracula Story

    When: November 7
    Where: Shudder (worldwide)

If you loved The Black Phone , you won't want to miss Abrahams Boys: A
Dracula Story, as it was penned by the same person. The short story by writer Joe Hill follows siblings Max and Rudy Van Helsing, who have spent their
lives under the strict and overprotective rule of their father, Abraham.

Both are unaware of his dark past and struggle to understand his increasingly erratic behavior. This leads them to unearth the truth about his history with Dracula, forcing them to inherit the terrifying family legacy. Krampus

    When: November 15
Where: Shudder (US); Prime Video (UK); Rent or buy (AU)

Christmas movies are often known for being cozy and wholesome, so it's fun when they aren't. Inspired by the horned beast from ancient European
folklore, this movie follows a dysfunctional family whose squabbling causes a young boy to lose his festive spirit enough to unleash the wrath of Krampus.

Starring Severance 's Adam Scott, Wayward's Toni Collette and The Office's David Koechner, there's an excellent cast here, and it's an entertaining
watch as you prepare for your celebrations. Hey, it might even convince the family not to get into any arguments, just in case Krampus appears.

7 new horror movies on Prime Video, Shudder, HBO Max, and more in January 2026

    Description:
Looking to cure those January blues? There's some gripping horror movies waiting for you across the best streaming services.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

2026 is off to a great start, as the best streaming services are packed with new horror movies to help you beat the January blues.

If one of your New Year's resolutions is to watch more horror movies, I'm
here to help. There's plenty of new original movies, including a Texas Chain Saw massacre documentary and a new Netflix mystery, as well as some classics to revisit.

Here's my top seven picks for new movies now streaming, to start your year
    off right. Marshmallow

    Where: Shudder (US)
    When: January 1

Marshmallow is a new entry into Shudder's original library, and it's a must-watch for those who love creepy campfire tales.

Following a traumatic experience involving his grandfather, a young boy named Morgan is sent to a summer camp. He's plagued by nightmares and visions involving a fear of water and drowning, and soon hears a story about a doctor who takes children at night and performs horrible operations on them in the basement of his building.

But is this doctor just a story, or is he real? You'll have to watch and find out. Misery

Where: Peacock (US); Prime Video (UK, AU)
    When: January 1

Misery is my favorite Stephen King novel, and the movie adaptation is just
as terrifying. Kathy Bates delivers a chilling performance as Annie Wilkes, a woman who rescues author Paul Sheldon from a car crash. She happens to be a nurse and Paul's number one fan, so what could possibly go wrong?

A lot, as it happens. When she finds out he's just killed off her favorite book character, she's not happy at all. And things go terribly wrong. It's largely a one-location movie, focusing entirely on Annie's house where Paul
is captive, and you'll be on the edge of your seat. Bodies Bodies Bodies

Where: HBO Max (US); Prime Video (UK); 7Plus (AU)
    When: January 1

2022's Bodies Bodies Bodies is now available on HBO Max , and it's well worth checking out. This A24 horror comedy was a hit with the critics, with plenty of laughs and scares.

The movie follows a group of rich young adults who plan a hurricane party at
a remote family mansion, where they play a party game called Bodies Bodies Bodies. It goes horribly wrong, naturally. You'll have fun trying to find out why someone ended up dying for real, but you might be surprised by the
    result.

This joins plenty of other great A24 horrors streaming on Max, so be sure to check out the streamer's vast movie library. Scream

    Where: Paramount+ (worldwide)
    When: January 1

I watch Scream once a year, and I might bring my annual rewatch forward now that it's streaming on Paramount+ . Wes Craven's horror comedy is iconic for
a reason, and it inspired a new genre of horror fans. With Scream 7 on the
way this year, the slasher franchise is still going strong, too.

Set in the fictional town of Woodsboro, high school students are targeted by
a masked serial killer. One in particular, Sidney, is especially spooked as it's taking place on the anniversary of her mother's murder.

The whole Scream franchise is on Paramount+ if you want to binge-watch them, too. Bone Lake

Where: Netflix (US); rent or buy (UK, AU)
    When: January 15

I do love a remote getaway, don't you? Unfortunately, it does seem to be the premise of many horror movies, which is less than idyllic.

Netflix's new movie Bone Lake follows Diego and Sage, who are on a romantic vacation at a secluded lakeside estate. It quickly gets disrupted when
they're forced to share a mansion with a mysterious and attractive couple,
and it all spirals into a "nightmarish maze of sex, lies, and manipulation," according to the plot.

It currently looks like it's only coming to US Netflix, but hopefully other territories will get it soon. Chain Reactions

    Where: Shudder (US, AU)
    When: January 16

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of the most well known horror movies of all time, and this documentary takes a look at its impact.

Artists Patton Oswalt, Takashi Miike, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Stephen
King, and Karyn Kusama were all interviewed for this film, where they discuss what Tobe Hooper's movie means to them.

This is a fun addition to Shudder this month, and I'm excited to check it
    out. The Funhouse

Where: Prime Video (US); rent or buy (US, AU)
    When: January 31

Another of Tobe Hooper's movies arrives at the end of January, and if you haven't seen The Funhouse , now's the perfect time. It's just joined Prime Video' s horror line-up.

This slasher is just as good as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre , and follows four teenagers who become trapped in a ghost train ride at a traveling carnival and are soon stalked by a killer.

It's a solid 80s slasher and will make you fear carnivals, trust me.
