I'm obsessed with this pet bed-air purifier combo that apparently sucks up hair, dander, and pet smells right at the source

    Description:
The Blueair PetAir Pro might be the solution to every pet-loving allergy-sufferer's biggest problem if your pet agrees to actually use it.

FULL STORY ======================================================================Blueair' s PetAir Pro is a pet bed with a built-in air purifier It's designed to
tackle hair, dander, and odors as your pet lounges on it Includes a Pet Lock and ultra-quiet operation

Want a pet but suffer from allergies? Or concerned about what a furry, four-legged friend might do to your indoor air quality? Blueair has the solution for you.

This brand is known for making some of the best air purifiers on the market, but its latest effort is the only one to wear a pet bed hat. The newly announced PetAir Pro is a wide, flat air purifier that forms the base for a pet bed. It's designed to capture pet dander and fur, as well as neutralize odors, right at the source (your pet), minimizing the amount of unwelcome particles that make their way out into your home.

Most air purifiers will capture allergens, dander, and odors , but the PetAir Pro goes a few steps further when it comes to delivering for pet owners specifically. My biggest concern would be hair clogging the filters, but the "Pet FurLock Technology" directs it into a dedicated, easy-empty hair tray. Blueair has included a patent-pending technology called "OdorFence", which uses enzymes and minerals to break down odors. It's also equipped with an H13 HEPA filter about the most efficient particle filter you'll find in any air purifier.

The bed part is customizable, with three bedding options, and Blueair has sensibly included a Pet Lock that prevents your pet from changing the
settings with its paws. (Image credit: Blueair)

The trick I think will be getting your pet to actually use it. I'm
convinced my dog would be highly suspicious of anything that whirrs, and
would freak out the minute it kicked on. I've pet-sat for cats who were never happier than when sitting directly on top of my laptop keyboard, which suggests this species might be more comfortable with the mechanical element (although I secretly suspect they were just looking to inconvenience me, and might too reject a PetAir Pro, even if purely on the basis it has been bought specifically for them).

Blueair has done its best to make it as appealing as possible, though. It promises "whisper-quiet" operation in general, and when the PetAir Pro senses your pet is resting on it, it'll lower the fan speed automatically.

The PetAir Pro is available to buy now on Blueair.com for $499.99 (about 370
/ AU$770). It's currently only available in the US. You might also like...
