7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and more
    this weekend (June 14)

    Description:
Three hugely popular shows return to TV screens worldwide this weekend and there a few new movies to enjoy, too.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Ready for a weekend of relaxing in front of your TV? You've got plenty to choose from if you are. Three of the world's best streaming services
Netflix, Prime Video, and Max will engage in an almighty TV series showdown as new seasons of their wildly successful shows Bridgerton , The Boys , and House of the Dragon make their debuts.

If you're not a fan of steamy period dramas, satirical superhero series, or bloody high fantasy, though, don't fret. There are some fascinating new
movies and a crime thriller show to entertain you instead. So, what are you waiting for? Read on to see what you'll be streaming over the next few days. The Boys season 4 (Prime Video)

Oi, you! Yeah, you. Did you know Prime Video 's diabolically fun and ultraviolent superhero series one of them, anyway is back on our screens? Well, now you do, sunshine. The Boys is *ahem* back in town with its eagerly anticipated fourth season, and it sees the dysfunctional titular group continuing their increasingly desperate crusade to bring Homelander, The Seven, and Vought International to their knees. Or, at the very least,
winging it in the most comedically violent way possible.

The Boys season 4 's first three episodes are out now, and you'll want to read our review of The Boys ' fourth season to see if it continues one of the best Prime Video shows ' hot streaks on your telly box.

Watch The Boys season 4 on Prime Video . New episodes air weekly. House of the Dragon season 2 (Max)

Almost two years after it redeemed HBO's Game of Thrones universe in the eyes of many, House of the Dragon makes its exciting return on Max (in the US)
with its eight-episode second installment. Set immediately after its predecessor's emotionally stunning finale, House of the Dragon season 2 finds Westeros on the brink of a devastating civil war known as The Dance of the Dragons as Houses Targaryen and Hightower continue to fight over the Iron Throne.

Is one of the best Max shows ' sophomore seasons still worth watching? You'll need to read our spoiler-free review of House of the Dragon season 2's first four episodes to find out. House of the Dragon season 3 is officially in development , too, so this won't be the end of the hit series, whatever your thoughts on its next chapter are.

House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on Max (US) on Sunday, June 16, and Sky/Now TV (UK) and Foxtel/Binge (Australia) on Monday, June 17. New episodes air weekly. Bridgerton season 3 part 2 (Netflix)

Bridgerton season 3 got off to a royally good start when its first batch of episodes arrived on May 16. Now that volume 2 has been released in full on Netflix , you can immerse yourself in even more high-born scandals and risqu romance.

Without spoiling anything from season 3 part 1, Bridgerton 's latest chapter reunites us with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin
Bridgerton (Luke Newton) as they continue to navigate the aristocratic world of love, familial loyalty, and Lady Whistledown's gossip sheets. Expect part
2 to draw in millions more viewers and cement Bridgerton 's place as one of the best Netflix shows around.

Watch Bridgerton season 3 part 2 in full on Netflix. Ultraman Rising (Netflix)

Netflix has given us some really great family-friendly animated films especially over the summer months (that's winter, for Australians) in recent years. With Ultraman: Rising , one of June's new Netflix movies , the streaming giant will hope to achieve similar levels of success.

Christopher Sean voices Ken Sato, a Japan native and US baseball star who's forced to return to his island home to assume the superhero mantle of
Ultraman amid numerous monster attacks. However, when Sato inadvertently becomes the adoptive father of a 35-foot tall, fire-breathing baby kaiju,
he's not only charged with keeping Tokyo safe, but also protecting said baby monster from falling into the wrong hands. One to add to our best Netflix movies list? We'll see how Ultraman: Rising performs first.

Watch Ultraman Rising on Netflix. Presumed Innocent (Apple TV Plus)

"I did not kill her". If you take anything away from Apple's new legal thriller series Presumed Innocent a TV remake of the Harrison Ford-starring 1990 movie and 1987 novel of the same name it's that Jake Gyllenhaal's protagonist didn't commit the crime he's accused of.

Or so he says. The suspense-filled Apple TV Plus drama sees Gyllenhaal's
Rusty Sabich, Chicago's chief deputy prosecutor, installed as the main
suspect in the horrific murder of Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve) Sabich's co-worker who he was having an extramarital affair with.

Based on its 78% critical and 84% audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes , Presumed Innocent is off to a captivating start on the streamer. Expect to
see it on our best Apple TV Plus shows list shortly.

Watch Presumed Innocent on Apple TV Plus . New episodes air weekly. Monkey Man (Peacock)

Originally set to stream exclusively on Netflix before Jordan Peele snapped
up the rights to release it in theaters, Monkey Man (out now on Peacock ) has
through no fault of its own been regularly compared to the John Wick
    movies.

With its hard-hitting and violent action, plus its vengeance-driven
narrative, it's easy to see why, but simply calling it a John Wick clone is a disservice to Dev Patel's feature film directorial debut (he also stars in
it, by the way). Indeed, it might tell the tale of a son's quest to get revenge on the people responsible for his mom's death years prior, but with its sociopolitical commentary, mythos-steeped themes, and wildly ambitious fight scenes and camerawork, Monkey Man is a stunning action flick in its own right.

Watch Monkey Man on Peacock. Origin (Hulu)

Arriving five months after its theatrical release, the acclaimed Ava DuVernay-directed biographical drama Origin will aim to reach a wider
audience following its underperformance at the global box office.

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor plays Isabel Wilkerson, the first Black journalist to win the Pulitzer Prize for her investigative endeavors. One of June's new
Hulu movies , Origin follows Wilkerson's globe-trotting journey as she pens her second book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents , which was published in August 2020 while simultaneously contending with a personal tragedy.

With its 82% critical and 97% audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes, Origin clearly deserves to be seen by more people. Now that it's out on Hulu (in the US), there's no excuse not to check it out. One to add to our best Hulu
movies guide in the near future.

    Watch Origin on Hulu.

    Description:
From the return of popular shows to the arrival of critically acclaimed new movies, here's what's worth watching this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Just like every week before it, there are plenty of new movies and shows to catch on the world's biggest streamers this time around but there's one hit series that'll hope to rule them all this weekend.

That's right, The Rings of Power , the most successful Amazon TV Original of all-time, is back for its highly anticipated second season. Based on what our reviewer said, it sounds like it's worth catching the high fantasy series' sophomore season, too, but you'll need to read on to find out why that's the case.

Nonplussed about Prime Video 's take on The Lord of the Rings ? Six other absorbing TV series and films are set to make their debuts (or have already done so) on the world's best streaming services before Sunday evening
arrives. So, hop to it, dear reader! The Rings of Power season 2 (Prime
    Video)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I liked The Rings of Power season
1 . It wasn't perfect, but Amazon's Lord of the Rings prequel show was a fantastical feast for the eyes, with melodrama, horror-imbued moments, high-stakes action, and reams of fantasy to be captivated by.

Ever since The Rings of Power season 2 was first announced, then, I've been eager for one of the best Prime Video shows ' return. Thankfully, the near-two-year wait has been worth it, with The Rings of Power 's second
season being the thrilling and faithful TV adaptation I've wanted all along (and I suspect many Tolkien fanatics have, too).

I've been covering the series extensively in recent time, so check out our Rings of Power tag page for exclusive insights from its showrunners and cast. I'll continue to write about it for, well, as long as I'm allowed to, so
stick with TechRadar for all of your Middle-earth needs.

Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Only Murders in the Building season 4 (Hulu/Disney Plus)

Only Murders in the Building is back and seemingly bigger than ever, with
the hit Hulu show's newest installment (it's also available on Disney Plus internationally) already earning an impressive 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes
    .

This time, the unlikely and much-loved trio of Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin), and Oliver (Martin Short) are back to try and figure out who killed their beloved friend and Charles long-time stunt double Sazz, so
season 4's story could arguably be their most personal case yet. They're also jetting off to Los Angeles because someone's keen to turn their podcast into
a movie, which means we'll be reunited with Meryl Streep's Loretta Durkin, too. Huzzah! So, make sure you tune back into one of the best Hulu shows and best Disney Plus shows , especially if you're a true crime connoisseur.

Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Terminator Zero (Netflix)

Judgment Day is finally upon us, which means that you can now stream Terminator Zero on Netflix . If you're fan of James Cameron's cyborg assassin sci-fi saga and let's be honest, why wouldn't you be then you're in for a treat, because the new show goes back to the original movie's horror roots . In fact, its creator Matt Tomlin reveals that it's "a faithful adaptation" to the sci-fi franchise after digging into the original source material.

Indeed, you won't see any Arnold Schwarzenegger-type characters with leather jackets and Harley Davidsons in this adaptation, and Sarah Connor won't be back either. Instead, in this R-rated animated series, when Skynet goes rogue and starts to unleash Armageddon, humanity looks to a lone female freedom fighter called Eiko to save the scientist Malcolm Lee. Swapping out LA for Tokyo, Terminator Zero has the potential to not only be one of the best Netflix anime , but also one of the best Netflix shows .

Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Kinds of Kindness (Disney Plus
    / Hulu)

Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the biggest directors flying the Greek Weird Wave a film movement described by Collider as examining authoritarian power structures in weird and wonderful ways flag high. And, after watching his most recent collaboration with Emma Stone in Poor Things, which was a colorful, whirlwind odyssey delight, I'm very excited to see what they've got in store next. The pair had also worked together on The Favourite, which just so happens to also be joining Hulu in September , so you've got two more
great movies to stream after you're done with Kinds of Kindness .

Speaking of Lanthimos' latest endeavor, it wouldn't make our best Hulu movies and best Disney Plus movies lists because of its 72% Rotten Tomatoes score, meaning it just falls short of criteria for inclusions. That won't stop me from streaming it this weekend, though. I'm a fan of anthologies as a tool
for storytelling because of how it can piece together a complex theme or sparse narrative, and the triptych fable about a man without choice, a
woman's search for a prodigious spiritual leader, and a policeman's missing wife at the centre of Kinds of Kindness sounds perfect for it.

Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Kaos (Netflix)

Kaos is a dark comedy series that puts a contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology. In it, three humans start to discover their connections with each other and an ancient prophecy, all while they grapple with corrupt Greek
    gods.

The ever-so-charming Jeff Goldblum playing an emotionally unstable Zeus, the Greek God of Thunder? Sign me up! Although I don't know much about Greek mythology, this sounds like an enjoyable twist on the subject. Who knows, maybe I'll learn something new and it'll become one of the best Netflix
    shows.

Grace Morris, entertainment writer The Watchers (Max)

The Watchers , a new supernatural horror, is ready to stream on Max , so
fans of the genre will be eating good this weekend. It's the directorial
debut from Ishana Night Shyamalan, who is following in her father's footsteps to deliver scares. Whether or not she's inherited his love of insane twists and turns is a mystery, and you'll have to watch (no pun intended) to find
out more and see if it's worthy of our best horror movies list.

The movie follows Mina (Dakota Fanning), a 28-year-old artist who becomes trapped in a vast, untouched forest inIreland. While there, she is stuck with three strangers who are stalked by mysterious creatures every night, i.e. the titular "Watchers", who she must keep herself safe from. Taking plenty of inspiration from folklore, this is one to watch if you like your horrors
rural and ominous. Keep an eye out to see if it joins our best Max movies guide shortly.

Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer K-Pop Idols (Apple TV Plus)

Apple TV Plus is giving us a backstage pass into the world of K-Pop stardom with their new docuseries K-Pop Idols. The six-part documentary offers a
close look at the intense reality of being in an industry that demands perfection with much-loved artists Jessi, CRAVITY and BLACKSWAN.

While I don't listen to K-Pop music, I'm aware of the talent, craft, and determination the performers put into their show-stopping performances. It's an interesting world that I'm keen to learn about and I'm looking forward to being mesmerized by the idols' gift on putting on a stunning show on Apple's streaming platform. We'll have to wait and see if it makes it onto our best Apple TV Plus shows list.

7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and more
    this weekend (December 13)

    Date:
    Fri, 13 Dec 2024 15:00:00 +0000

    Description:
The second week of December is chock full of great looking new movies and shows to watch at home.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

The world's most festive holidays are rapidly approaching, but the world's best streaming services aren't slowing down ahead this year's winter-themed celebrations. Indeed, many of them are still releasing new movies and TV
shows for us to enjoy, with Netflix gifting us no fewer than seven new things to watch this weekend.

That'd be enough to ensure Netflix fills this week's streaming list on its
own but, in the interests of fairness, you'll only find three of them in this article. The others have been saved for four other unmissable (for good and bad reasons) films and series unfortunately for Elton John and Bookie fans, though, neither the former's Disney Plus documentary and the latter's second season have secured a spot this time around. Nonetheless, I'm sure you'll
find something worth streaming with the below picks. Enjoy! - Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Carry-On (Netflix)

If airport security wasn't hard enough, one of December's final new Netflix movies Carry-On just made it even more difficult thanks to an evil Jason Bateman promising to ruin everyone's Christmas this year.

Prepare to see Die Hard' s Bruce Willis replaced with modern-day action hero Taron Egerton in this festive thriller as he plays young TSA agent Ethan. While working the nightmare airport shift, Ethan's day takes a deadly turn when he's blackmailed by a mysterious passenger into letting a dangerous package onto a Christmas Eve flight. With car crashes and gun fights galore, Carry-On is certainly on my Christmas watch list this year and, with its 82% Rotten Tomatoes critical score, has the potential to join our best Netflix movies list.

Grace Morris, entertainment writer Watch Carry-On on Netflix Dream Productions (Disney Plus)

As if Disney and Pixar didn't already have one of the biggest animation hits ever on their hands, there's a brand new spin-off series from one of the best Disney Plus movies that's sure to delight Inside Out 2 fans.

Taking the spot of Pixar's first original series Win or Lose , which had originally been slated to arrive in December but has been moved to next February, Dream Productions arrived on the service on Wednesday. Set between Inside Out and the sequel, it takes us back inside the mind of Riley to meet the team behind her dreams. Like the movie business, its a full scale production making dreams that require different directors depending on
whether its a comedy, action, or a dreaded nightmare. I've no doubt it'll carve out a dedicated spot in our best Disney Plus shows list.

Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Dream Productions on Disney Plus Joker: Folie a Deux (Max)

Considering the first Joker movie won two Oscars, DC fans everywhere were excited for its follow-up. Unfortunately, the reception Joker: Folie a Deux has been met with is mostly negative. So, if you were waiting to see this on streaming instead of paying for a movie ticket, it's made its Max debut just two months after originally airing in theaters.

Given how panned it's been, we won't be adding it to our best Max movies round-up. However, since films are subjective, you might enjoy this one and
go against the general consensus. And, if you want to revisit the original which is, admittedly, very good, that's also streaming on the same platform.

Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Joker: Folie a Deux on Max Secret Level (Prime Video)

Fresh from leading development on Netflix's R-rated sci-fi anthology series Love, Death, and Robots , Tim Miller and the masterminds at Blur Studio have teamed up with Prime Video and numerous other animation studios to create Secret Level . An anthology series comprising non-canonical stories set in
the universes of popular videogame franchises, Secret Level aims to entertain the masses and convince them to try out titles including New World , Sifu , Warhammer 40K , and if you've been living under a rock for the past 40-plus years Pac-Man .

Unfortunately, Secret Level isn't all that great. I've seen all 15 episodes and, while I can vouch for how gorgeous some of them look and the intriguing stories they tell, many of them come across as hollow, cash-grab-esque advertisements one entry is just four minutes long, for crying out loud
that could've been much more creative with their art styles and innovative with their storytelling. Don't expect to see this one on our best Prime Video shows list anytime soon.

Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Watch Secret Level on Prime Video
    No Good Deed (Netflix)

After watching the trailer for No Good Deed , I knew it was a dark comedy that I couldn't wait for. From the creator of one of the best Netflix shows Dead to Me , this series follows three very different families vying to purchase the same 1920s Spanish-style villa in LA. However, what might be the house of their dreams may not be so perfect after all.

If The White Lotus can produce a critically acclaimed show about wealthy people visiting a hotel, then I guarantee Netflix will have success transforming this seemingly ordinary premise into something extraordinary
    with its star-studded cast.

Grace Morris, entertainment writer Watch No Good Deed on Netflix Red One (Prime Video)

After watching this movie a few weeks ago, I concluded that Red One isn't perfect but it proves we need more action-packed Christmas movies . And, if you want to swap Hallmark romance for something that's arguably even more ridiculous, I really recommend this story about a kidnapped Santa Claus and the people that fought to rescue him and save Christmas.

Yes, its Rotten Tomatoes score suggest it's pretty rubbish, but it's nonetheless entertaining and has an impressive ensemble cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, JK Simmons, and Lucy Liu. Now it's streaming on Prime Video , it could make the perfect double bill alongside Carry-On .

Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Red One on Prime Video One Hundred Years of Solitude (Netflix)

Netflix has only gone and done the impossible. Thought to be unfilmable, the first-ever screen adaptation of Gabriel Garca Mrque's Noble Prize-winning novel One Hundred Years of Solitude has arrived in the form of a TV show comprising 16 episodes. The first eight of those are now available, with part two set to be released at an unconfirmed date.

Before you watch them (and I appreciate this is the opposite of a streaming recommendation, but I hope youll let me off just this once), I'd suggest reading the book first. This fantasy epic is a family saga of heroic proportions that can only really be first experienced on page. Based on its trailer, Netflix's adaptation promises to be authentic and has the support of the author's family, making it an ambitious project and one that I hope will be as good as it looks.

7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and more
    this weekend (March 28)

    Date:
    Fri, 28 Mar 2025 17:20:27 +0000

    Description:
There are plenty of new movies and the odd new TV show to watch at home
    this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

It's almost time to bid farewell to March (how are we a third of the way through 2025 already!?). But, before April *ahem* springs into action, there are a number of eagerly-anticipated new movies and TV shows to enjoy on the world's best streaming services .

So, whether you're looking forward to watching Mufasa: The Lion King , The Studio , or something else at home, we've got you covered. Whatever you
stream this weekend, we're sure you'll enjoy it. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Mufasa: The Lion King (Disney+)

The latest Lion King live-action adaptation has arrived on Disney+ if you're looking for some escapism to the jungle this weekend. This one divided the critics with a split 56% Rotten Tomatoes score, which is actually higher than its 2019 predecessor that only scored 51%. So fans were more enamored with this one, which focuses on the story of Mufasa as he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, who is heir to a royal bloodline.

We're all familiar with the animated classic, and Mufasa: The Lion King takes us to where it all began, swapping between timelines to tell the story of Simba's father and the events leading up to the beloved original movie. While it's not good enough for our best Disney+ movies round-up, you might still have fun with it anyway, especially if you're looking to entertain the whole family. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Mufasa: The Lion
King on Disney+ The Life List (Netflix)

Based on the novel of the same name by Lori Nelson, this new Netflix movie follows Alex Rose (Sofia Carson) as she embarks on a quest to complete her childhood bucket list following the death of her mother. As she revisits her youth, shes taken on a surprising journey of self-discovery, romance and family secrets.

Netflix is home to many rom-com flops like A Family Affair and Find Me Falling , but The Life List promises to "make you both laugh and cry", which is usually a winning formula for some of the best Netflix movies . Im definitely getting the tissues ready. Grace Morris, entertainment writer
Watch The Life List on Netflix The Studio (Apple TV+)

With Severance season 2 firmly in the rear view mirror, Apple needs another outrageously brilliant TV Original to fill the void. While Surface season 2 and Dope Thief are worth watching, it's The Studio that I'm recommending as your next must-see show on Apple TV+ .

A clever cringe comedy series that doesn't hold back in its satirical take on Hollywood and the entertainment industry more broadly, The Studio is an absolute riot. Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly-appointed CEO of fictional company Continental Studios whose attempts to save the floundering business leads to all manner of slapstick moments, belly-aching laughs, and not-so-subtle digs at celebrityism, the LA party scene, and the churn of the Hollywood machine.

With top-tier performances from its supporting cast, including Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O'Hara, plus a whole host of cameo appearances Martin Scorsese and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos are in it, for goodness sake! The Studio is absolutely unmissable. Easily one of the best Apple TV+ shows of all-time.
TP Watch The Studio on Apple TV+ A Complete Unknown (Hulu)

Who else has been excitedly waiting to see Timothe Chalamet's take on the iconic role of singer-songwriter Bob Dylan? Despite not winning a single
Oscar after being nominated for eight at the 97th Academy Awards, A Complete Unknown remains one of the most critically-acclaimed box office releases in the past year and will no doubt be one of the best Hulu movies once more audiences get a chance to stream it this weekend.

Set in the early 60s, the docudrama follows Dylan's rise to fame in New York under the mentorship of Pete Seeger (Edward Norton) and offers a new dramatization of the musician's life, including his relationship with fellow singer-songwriter Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro). Chalamet sings all the classic songs in the film himself, so expect a fresh take on favorites like Mr Tambourine Man and Like A Rolling Stone. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch A Complete Unknown on Hulu Holland (Prime Video)

After the Nicole Kidman-led Netflix series The Perfect Couple disappointed me recently, Im really hoping Holland will be a return to form for the iconic actress. The plot is intriguing enough, but with a 30% Rotten Tomatoes score from the critics, theres a real chance Ill be let down again when I watch it this weekend. Having said that, critics' scores dont guarantee the audience will hate it too, so well have to make our own minds up.

Theres a great cast here, at least, with Kidman joined by Matthew Macfadyen, Naomi Watts, and Bryan Cranston, so the movie is certainly not lacking when
it comes to talent. Holland is one to try if youre hoping for a mystery-thriller to get stuck into, its now streaming on Prime Video. Maybe youll like it more than you think, theres only one way to find out! - LB
Watch Holland on Prime Video Queer (Max)

Luca Guadagnino's latest film sees the Italian director back in his element. Since the theatrical release of Queer in 2024, many can't stop talking about it, including TechRadar's Rowan Davies who said it was his favorite movie of 2025 so far , and I'm not surprised following the success of Challengers and Call Me By Your Name. The director has a way with romantic dramas.

Adapted from a novel by William S. Burroughs of the same name, Queer is set
in 1950s Mexico City and tells the story of an expat's (Daniel Craig) relationship with a young student (Drew Starkey). Critics haven't been overly taken by the new movie, which means it won't be one of the best Max movies , but that doesn't mean that audiences won't enjoy streaming another great A24 movie . AS Watch Queer on Max MobLand (Paramount+)

MobLand is another TV crime drama created by the king of the gangster genre Guy Ritchie and features a star-studded cast of Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. In this new Paramount+ show, two London crime families battle for power that threatens to end empires and ruin lives. Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Souza (Hardy), a street-smart fixer who is called upon by the Harrigans to protect their family.

This potential best Paramount+ show will be the perfect alternative while I wait for season 2 of Ritchies hit Netflix series The Gentlemen and I cant
wait to see his signature violence and unique characters back on the small screen in another gangland saga. GM Watch MobLand on Paramount+

    this weekend (April 11)

    Date:
    Fri, 11 Apr 2025 14:00:00 +0000

    Description:
It's a big week for the return of highly-rated TV shows and the odd new movie release.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Another weekend has arrived and, if you're a TV aficionado, you've got lots of new content to watch.

Indeed, this week's streaming list is full of top tier TV suggestions, with
no fewer than four (!) excellent shows making their long-awaited returns on some of the world's best streaming services . If you're after some new movies to watch at home this weekend, though, you'll just have to make do with the latest Amazon Movie Original.

But that's enough of a preamble. Read on to find out what's worth watching over the next few days. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter The Last of Us season 2 (Max/Sky)

One of the best Max shows , not to mention the most-watched HBO TV Original
in years, is back on our screens this weekend. After a two-year-plus hiatus, The Last of Us TV show is ready to rip out our hearts once more with its second season.

I could tell you more about The Last of Us ' sophomore season, but that would ruin its biggest surprises (well, if you haven't played its video game namesake). If you want some spoiler-free/spoiler-light details, my hub about The Last of Us season 2 is your one-stop shop for said information. Want to learn more about who's joining Ellie and Joel this time around? My season 2 cast and character guide is also worth a read.

Season 2 premieres in the US this Sunday (April 13). UK and Australian
viewers can check it out on Monday (April 14). As for where you can stream
it, US and Australian audiences will need to boot up Max , while UK patrons will need to sign into Sky Atlantic. TP Watch The Last of Us season 2 on Max (US and Australia) and Sky Atlantic (UK) Black Mirror season 7 (Netflix)

Black Mirror season 7 has arrived on Netflix and I'm excited to see people's responses to this one. Anthology shows can be a real mixed bag and this one
is no exception take a look at my Black Mirror season 7 episodes ranked
    piece to see why.

It's definitely an intriguing entry into the program's growing dystopian library. Indeed, season 7 is home to Black Mirror 's first-ever episodic sequel, which is a route I never thought it would go down. On top of that, there's a Bandersnatch spin-off for fans of the interactive movie to enjoy.

Despite its hit-and-miss seasonal nature, you can't ignore the impact Black Mirror continues to have. Definitely one that deserves its spot on our best Netflix shows round up. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch
Black Mirror season 7 on Netflix Doctor Who season 2 (Disney+/BBC One)

Searching for more family-friendly sci-fi? Doctor Who is the program for you. The British institution returns for its second season (that's season 15, for those of you who've been watching since its 2005 reboot) on Disney+ internationally and BBC One/BBC iPlayer in the UK.

This time, Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor is joined by Varada Sethu's Belinda
'Bel' Chandra for more wibbly wobbly timey-wimey adventures across all of
time and space. To see if one of the best Disney+ shows ' latest premiere is worth watching, check out my Doctor Who season 2 episode 1 review . TP Watch Doctor Who season 2 on Disney+ (internationally) and BBC One/BBC iPlayer (UK) G20 (Prime Video)

Is there anything Viola Davis can't do? Whether she's teaching people how to get away with murder in, well, How to get Away with Murder , or enjoying some comic book action in The Suicide Squad , she's also booked and busy.

This time, she's playing the US president (as she deserves, honestly) in an alternate Prime Video -based reality. So far, G20 has been met with mixed reviews, so it won't be appearing on our best Prime Video movies round up any time soon.

Still, if you're in the mood for an action flick on Amazon's streaming service, there are worse options out there. LB Watch G20 on Prime Video
    Hacks season 4 (Max)

Well, aren't Max subscribers spoilt this week? Not only are they The Last of Us season 2, but also the return of HBO's Emmy award-winning comedy drama Hacks .

The show's fourth season sees Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder reprise their roles as Deborah Vance and Ava in a tense new installment that'll pick up right where season 3 ended. Indeed, we last saw the duo set up their late night show and this new season will see them try to get it off the ground.

The first two episodes are out now, but there'll be another eight in the
weeks ahead. As one of the most-anticipated shows coming to Max in April, I don't doubt that this will an instant hit with fans. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Hacks season 4 on Max Your Friends and Neighbors (Apple TV+)

Trust Apple to be the one that tempts Jon Hamm back into a leading role on
the small screen. Since retiring Don Draper in Mad Men, we haven't seen Hamm appear in another show, but that's changed with the debut on Your Friends & Neighbors arrive on Apple TV+ .

The comedy-drama sees Hamm play a divorced and broke hedge fund manager who resorts to stealing from his neighbors, but the secrets he uncovers are a lot more dangerous than he could've ever thought. It's not going to end after one season either, because Apple TV+ has already renewed the series , so I'd be surprised if this doesn't land a spot in our best Apple TV+ shows guide. AS Watch Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple TV+ Good American Family (Disney+)

After landing on Hulu earlier this year, Good American Family joins the growing list of Disney+ thrillers, and while it doesn't reach the heights of Paradise , I still enjoyed it.

That'll be a controversial stance, admittedly, due to it 48% Rotten Tomatoes critical score. So, I'm expecting it to be met with some seriously mixed audience reviews when more people have streamed it.

Many people have pointed out it has similar vibes to the (often ridiculous) horror movie Orphan , though, so, if you had a good time with that you might enjoy Good American Family . LB Watch Good American Family on Disney+

7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and more
    this weekend (May 16)

    Fri, 16 May 2025 14:00:00 +0000

    Description:
A multi-award-winning drama film and a fan-favorite Netflix animated show
    lead this week's streaming recommendations.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Congratulations, you've made it to the end of another week. You know what
that means yep, it's time to kick back and enjoy a plethora of new movies
and TV shows that have just landed on the world's best streaming services .

I'll admit that this week's streaming list is very light on the new film front, but at least there are lots of options for TV aficionados to be entertained by. So, without further ado, these are seven things you won't
want to miss before Monday arrives. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Love, Death & Robots volume 4 (Netflix)

Netflix's animated anthology series Love, Death and Robots has finally returned with 10 new episodes, each hailing from a different team of talented artists. Indeed, what's so striking about the series is the drastically different visual styles on showcase, from stop motion and hand-painted 3D models to photorealistic CGI.

It's one of the best Netflix shows for this exact reason and has wide appeal because of the different stories it brings to life. In volume 4, you can expect to find a mix of genres again, including horror, sci-fi and fantasy.
To give you an idea of the variety, there's even a Red Hot Chilli Pepper
music video that David Fincher directed .

If, however, you don't want to go into the series blind and risk falling prey to a jump scare, then make sure to give our episode ranking of Love, Death
and Robots volume 4 by fear factor a read to avoid any unwelcome surprises. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Love, Death & Robots
volume 4 on Netflix The Brutalist (Max)

The Brutalist is out now on Max this weekend, and the three-hour-plus movie has received much critical acclaim, making it worthy of a space on our best Max movies round up.

As well as scoring a healthy 93% Rotten Tomatoes score, it also won three Oscars including Best Actor for Adrian Brody and Best Cinematography, so it's no surprise people were excitedly waiting for its streaming release.

The movie is so long, in fact, it had an intermission in theaters, which is a very rare occurrence these days. Watching it in the comfort of your own home, though, means you can choose your own intermission where you can get up and make a cup of tea. Or , you can stay glued to your screen the whole time, and given how good it is I wouldn't blame you if you did! Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch The Brutalist on Max Overcompensating (Prime
    Video)

This new Amazon TV Original is a yet another comedy about fraternities, football players, and enjoying the perks that college has to offer. But, before you roll your eyes, it's got a very surprising score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. I guess that's what I get for judging a series by its marketing!

Prime Video 's latest offering follows Benny, a football player who
struggles with his sexuality. As the title suggests, he starts overcompensating to try and fit in as someone he's not, and the result is a heartfelt comedy show that's really all about self-acceptance.

Those who love coming-of-age-dramas will likely have a good time with Overcompensating , which should join our best Prime Video shows hub by virtue of its high RT rating. It's also soundtracked by Charli XCX, so you can
expect some catchy tunes along the way. LB Watch Overcompensating on Prime Video Duster (Max)

    J. J. Abrams helms this new Max thriller series, which seems to be a divergence from his usual brand of 'watch out for lens flares!' sci-fi. Instead, he's honing in on the FBI's first Black woman agent as she works to stop a crime syndicate with the assistance of a talented getaway driver.

It's set in the Southwest in 1972, looks like it'll be a very intriguing watch, and is a marked change for projects Abrams is involved in. It's important to note that the characters and their storylines have no direct connection with real-life people or events so, while it may have been
inspired by things, it's ultimately a work of fiction. LB Watch Duster on
    Max Murderbot (Apple TV+)

You've heard of The Terminator , now get ready for Murderbot . Alexander Skarsgrd leads the cast of this new Apple TV+ show, which follows a rogue security robot who secretly gains free will and spends more time trying to decipher humanity than, well, murder people he comes across.

TechRadar recently spoke to Murderbot 's cast about, their bias aside, it sounds pretty unique for its primary genre. Sci-fi has done well on Apple TV+ so far, so this looks like another genre-based winner for the tech giant that'll deserve a spot on our best Apple TV+ shows list. LB Watch Murderbot on Apple TV+ Bad Thoughts (Netflix)

New Netflix sketch comedy Bad Thoughts has proven divisive with the critics, which asks the question: what would happen if you actually followed through
    on your intrusive thoughts.

However, Im among those that actually had a very good time with this. While its not rated highly enough by my peers, Id still argue its worth a go and
its controversial brand of comedy will definitely land with some viewers. If youre a fan of dark comedy and crude humor, then Tom Seguras latest project might be your ideal binge watch this weekend

You can expect parodies of things like action flicks, disaster movies, and
A24 movies, as well as some ridiculous characters, many of which are played
by Segura himself. If youre looking for something quick to watch, its
episodes are on the short side, too. LB Watch Bad Thoughts on Netflix
Welcome to Wrexham season 4 (Hulu/Disney+)

The soccer-based docuseries that just keeps on giving, Welcome to Wrexham returned for its fourth season on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally)
this week. And, spoilers notwithstanding, it may be the show's most intense installment yet.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McIlhenney, two of Hollywood's most recognizable faces and the owners of Welsh soccer club Wrexham FC, are the driving force behind this program and the sport team's rapid rise up the English football pyramid. But, as always, it's the personal stories of those involved in the day-to-day running of Wrexham FC, plus the local community, that make this such a compelling and oft-times tear-jerking watch.

Season 4's first two episodes are out now and, with new entries releasing weekly, I'm ready to laugh, cry, and learn more about one of the UK's oldest soccer institutions in one of the best Hulu shows ' (and best Disney+ shows
') latest chapter. TP Watch Welcome to Wrexham season 4 on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally)

    Description:
There are lots of new movies and the odd TV show to stream at home this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

It's rare that the number of new movies outweighs their new TV brethren in
    our weekly streaming round-ups.

That's the case this time, though. There are four that's right, four! new films we recommend watching on the world's best streaming services this weekend (June 13 to 15). Admittedly, some of them aren't great but, hey, you can have a laugh with and/or mock them to your heart's content if nothing else.

For the small-screen fans among you, there are a couple of new TV show offerings as well. So, don't worry, we haven't left you out! Here, then, is what you'll want to catch before next Monday arrives. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Snow White (Disney+)

Snow White is not the fairest Disney movie of them all. Not only did it have a disappointing box office run, its terrible 39% Rotten Tomatoes critics
score suggests it's not worth investing in at home, either.

Still, while it misses out on being part of our best Disney+ movies round-up, it's now available to watch at home. There are a lot of key differences from the original here, including Snow White's namesake and love interest, which has been met with mixed reviews.

If you'd rather watch the original Oscar-winning 1937 movie, that's also streaming on Disney+ alongside plenty of the classics. Either way, you can
get your fairytale fix this weekend. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Snow White on Disney+ Fubar season 2 (Netflix)

He's back again. Arnold Schwarzenegger's surprise Netflix TV hit Fubar has returned for its second season. After saving her daughter and fellow CIA operative last time around, Arnie's character Luke Brenner is forced to postpone his retirement once more to tackle a new threat. The villain in question? None other than Luke's former flame Greta (played by The Matrix
icon Carrie-Anne Moss), which complicates matters a teeny tiny bit.

Fubar isn't part of our best Netflix shows round-up right now, but only because we regularly rotate series in and out of it. If Fubar season 2 is as big of a hit as its forebear, don't be shocked if it returns to said guide in explosive fashion. TP Watch Fubar season 2 on Netflix Deep Cover (Prime Video)

The plot for one of June's new Prime Video movies Deep Cover sounds intriguing. It's about an improv comedy teacher played by Bryce Dallas Howard ( Jurassic World: Dominion ) who recruits two of her students Nick Mohammed
( Ted Lasso ) and Orlando Bloom ( The Lord of the Rings; Pirates of the Caribbean ) to help her impersonate dangerous criminals for an undercover cop.

If that sounds familiar, its probably because two of the British crime-comedy capers screenwriters (Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly) based theis Amazon film's concept on real-life New York City cops who previously used actors as decoys.

Following its world premiere at SXSW London Screen Festival earlier this month, this Prime Video movie has been received well by critics (based on its Rotten Tomatoes score, anyway). That should be enough to land it a spot on
our best Prime Video movies guide, then. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Deep Cover on Prime Video Echo Valley (Apple TV+)

Julianne Moore recently stunned me in Sirens , one of the best Netflix shows
, and now she's at the helm of a new Apple TV+ movie Echo Valley .

There's a seriously impressive cast here, including Euphoria 's Sydney Sweeney, Fallout 's Kyle MacLachlan, and Killing Eve 's Fiona Shaw. The ensemble is so talented, in fact, I'm going to watch it in spite of its 59% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes .

That'll prevent it from joining our best Apple TV+ movies list, but its premise Moore plays a mom who helps her troubled daughter (Sweeney) cover up a crime is one that appeals to me. LB Watch Echo Valley on Apple TV+
    Cleaner (Max)

Two British action flicks in the same week? Arent we lucky. Directed by
Martin Campbell ( Casino Royale; Golden Eye ), this film, which has debuted
on Max , has got a lot of great talent behind it.

Daisy Ridley ( Star Wars; Young Woman and the Sea ) stars as an soldier-turned-window cleaner (yes, you read that right), who dusts off her old combat skills to single-handedly save a group of hostages from a radical group of activists that have taken over an energy juggernauts gala.

I know Im not alone in thinking that this sounds like Die Hard. Countless critics have said as much since reviewing the film (it was released in theaters in the US earlier this year). However, while it follows a tried-and-tested story, its mixed reviews mean it won't make the cut for our best Max movies guide. AS Watch Cleaner on Max Titan: The Oceangate Disaster (Netflix)

I watched Titan: The OceanGate Disaster very intently and I urge everyone to do the same this weekend. I understand many might be concerned it's just another shocking documentary, but it has a lot of important insights into
what actually went wrong, including from those involved in its development.

For the uninitiated: in 2023, the submersible vessel known as Titan imploded, resulting in the deaths of all five passengers, including OceanGate's former CEO, Stockton Rush.

This well made and, dare I say, essential documentary criticizes how many people's concerns were ignored in the build up to Titan's journey to the Titanic wreckage, and is an important reminder that companies should pay attention to the experts they employ. LB Watch Titan: The Oceangate Disaster on Netflix Romcon: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? (Prime Video)

Our second new documentary pick of the week is a true crime series about the dark side of dating.

Romcon: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? is a tell-all from the victims of a prolific dating scammer based in Toronto. Real estate broker Heather Rovet explains how she fell in love with a charismatic handyman called "Jace", who she later discovers has been deceiving her. After uncovering the real
identity of Jason Porter, a convicted criminal known as a romance scammer, Heather connects with other victims to bring him to justice.

This isn't the first dating scammer story we've seen come to streaming, as Netflix's The Tinder Swindler had become a sensation when it was released in 2022. Expect Prime Video viewers to lap this one up in a similar fashion. AS Watch Romcon: Who the F**k is Jason Porter? on Prime Video

    this weekend (July 4)

    Fri, 04 Jul 2025 13:30:00 +0000

    Description:
New movie releases, including Ryan Coogler's supernatural horror film
Sinners, dominate this week's streaming list.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

After last week's TV show-heavy streaming list, it's time for their
big-screen cousins to take the spotlight.

Four big new movies have graced some of the world's best streaming services ahead of this weekend (July 4 to 6), so it'll be an Independence Day to remember for film fans in the UD. We've rounded out this week's streaming recommendations list with a couple of TV series and a sports event yep, we cover those from time to time! so there's plenty to watch at home over the next few days. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter The Old Guard 2 (Netflix)

One of the best Netflix movies from an action viewpoint finally has a follow-up. The long-awaited The Old Guard 2 has arrived on Netflix to take us on a brand new high-octane mission.

In our review of The Old Guard , we noted that its hokey-but-entertaining premise about a team of immortal warriors who've protected the world for centuries made for great page-turning comics, but didn't exactly translate to the small screen. This was made up for by an incredible lead performance from Charlize Theron, who has returned for the sequel alongside some new
characters to fight a mysterious threat.

Despite the original movie becoming an instant hit, early reviews don't look as favorable for the sequel although it seems everyone agrees that Theron's action sequences are a highlight of one of July's new Netflix movies .
Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch The Old Guard 2 on Netflix Sinners (Max)

Good news, the incredible Sinners is now streaming on Max . Sorry, though, UK fans, you'll have to wait a bit longer for its streaming debut.

A shoo-in for our best Max movies list, Sinners not only holds an impressive 97% Rotten Tomatoes critical score, but it's been celebrated worldwide by everyday audiences, too. Ryan Coogler, known for his work on the two Black Panther movies and Ironheart for Marvel , has created something really
    special here.

The supernatural horror period piece follows twin criminal twin brothers
(both played brilliantly by Michael B. Jordan) who return to their hometown and are confronted by a supernatural evil. It's an absolute must watch and is a real contender for horror movie of the year. Lucy Buglass , senior entertainment writer Watch Sinners on Max Heads of State (Prime Video)

If Idris Elba isnt going to be in a James Bond movie, at least he can be UK Prime Minister. Hes quite literally going head-to-head with John Cenas US president Will Derringer in one of July's new Prime Video movies in Heads of State , too. Well, until they're forced to work together when Air Force One
is shot down in enemy territory.

Based on Amazons previous track record with Prime Video Movie Originals, expectations for Heads of State were so low that we didn't expect it to be a shoo-in for our best Prime Video movies list, but its blown them away. Its stupid, but fun stupid, and theres a natural chemistry between our leading
men thats sorely lacking in other 2025 releases. Clearly everyone involved is having a lovely time, so why shouldnt we? Jasmine Valentine, streaming staff writer Watch Heads of State on Prime Video The Sandman season 2 (Netflix)

I was really looking forward to season 2 of The Sandman until numerous allegations were made against Neil Gaiman, aka the author behind the original graphic novel series it's based on.

Considering how good The Sandman season 1 was , it's a crying shame that the high-fantasy series' reputation has been tarnished by the man who created its literary namesake. It might have booked a spot in this week's streaming
guide, but I I won't be tuning in to watch The Sandman season 2 and I suspect many others won't on principle, either.

Still, if you plan on watching the final season of one of the best Netflix shows (well, it was until Gaiman-gate, anyway), its first six episodes are
out now. Five more chapters will arrive on July 24 to bring Netflix's live-action adaptation to a close. TP Watch The Sandman season 2 on Netflix On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (Max)

A24 has a habit of releasing bangers that fly under the radar, including
Earth Mama and All Dirt Road Taste of Salt . Tipped as one to watch at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, On Becoming a Guinea Fowl , one of three new A24 movies landing on Max in July , is next in line. Set in Zambia, the black comedy follows Shula, who finds her uncles dead body in the middle of the
    road late at night.

Finding the funny in something deadly serious, On Becoming a Guinea Fowl explores timely social issues in an expressive and meaningful way. The
classic predator versus prey analogy is at its core, framed through
impeccable visuals and an astute story. If youre wanting to watch global cinema that still feels accessible, one of July's new Max movies is the perfect choice. JV Watch On Becoming a Guinea Fowl on Max Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers (Netflix)

Netflix has shone a light on numerous tragic incidents recently, including
the surprisingly well made OceanGate documentary and the eye opening Grenfell Uncovered . Now, they're focusing on the 7/7 bombings, which occurred almost 20 years ago.

Told from multiple perspectives, this docuseries relives the moment four
bombs exploded in London killing 52 people and injuring more than 700, and
the weeks-long search for those responsible. Viewers will see archive footage and exclusive interviews with survivors, family members, investigators, intelligence services, and those closest to the events. A harrowing behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of the deadliest moments in recent British history. Lucy Buglass , senior entertainment writer Watch Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers on Netflix Wimbledon 2025 (BBC/ESPN/9Now)

It's time to crack out the Pimms, strawberries, and cream! The Wimbledon Championships 2025 is officially underway, marking the 138th anniversary of the sporting tournament.

If you didn't manage to get a ticket to the prestigious sporting event, don't worry because you'll be able to stream all the matches from The All England Lawn Tennis Club between now and July 13.

The best part about streaming the matches is that you'll also get to see in-depth coverage of the tournament, including live commentary and player interviews. Sure, you've missed five days worth of matches, but there are still many more to watch! AS Watch Wimbledon 2025 on ESPN (USA), BBC iPlayer (UK), and 9Now (Australia)
