Watch this video and tell me you dont wont be rushing to install the Burn-My-Windows GNOME extension :

Heck. I dont even use modern GNOME (Ive been spending more time living in XFCE lately), but these effects make me want to get GNOME back on my laptop!

Im not gonna lie I miss the days of 3D desktop effects. Compiz, Beryl, AIGLX all of it. 3D spinning cubes for virtual desktops. Windows that catch on fire when you close them.

I would posit that these sorts of visual effects are far from pointless.
They helped to make our computers just a little more fun. And a little more personal. I love it. The Energize effect because making your system look like Star Trek is important.

You can check out the code, contribute your own effects , or file bugs over
at the Burn-My-Windows GitHub page , and grab it from the GNOME extensions page . Pretend to be Thanos with the Snap of Disintegration effect.

More. We need more of this sort of thing. Because it is awesome.

Oh, and I would be remiss if I did not mention that the same intrepid developer that brought this extension to life also created a GNOME extension to bring back the 3D Desktop Cube .

And it is just as fun as awesome as you remember it:

Huge high five to Simon Schneegans for making all of this happen. You are
    the man.

Subscribing to The Lunduke Journal was the best thing Ive ever done. It is what made me the man I am today. - Somebody (probably) Get 70% off for 1 year
