    Description:
From star-studded movie remakes to new Apple TV Plus thrillers, theres plenty to watch this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Well level with you: this weekends crop of streaming launches is not the strongest we've ever seen. Basketball drama White Men Can't Jump leads the charge, but only Apples new comedy series, High Desert , seems to have gotten critics excited on the TV front.

In fact, the majority of this weeks streaming picks are documentaries, with Angel City , The Secrets of Hillsong and Working: What We Do All Day all arriving on HBO Max , Hulu and Netflix , respectively.

Still, thats not to say there's nothing else worth watching this weekend, and in this article, weve rounded up seven new movies and TV shows to stream over the next few days. White Men Can't Jump (Hulu, Disney Plus)

Were not sure anybody asked for it, but 20th Century Studios has seen fit to remake 1992 basketball comedy White Men Can't Jump anyway.

Now available on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK, this straight-to-streaming movie stars Sinqua Walls and rapper Jack Harlow as a pair of former basketball stars who join forces to hustle their way through various Los Angeles street tournaments. Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier and the late Lance Reddick count among the films supporting cast.

Alas, White Men Can't Jump has been largely panned by critics, but fans of
the Woody Harrelson-starring original will surely find some nostalgic enjoyment here.

Now available to stream on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK. High Desert (Apple TV Plus)

Apple TV Plus has found a new outlet for Severance star Patricia Arquette (despite the delay to Severance season 2 ) this weekend with High Desert .

This eight-episode comedy series from Nurse Jackie writers Nancy Fichman and Jennifer Hoppe follows Peggy (Arquette), a recovering drug addict who
decides to turn her hand to private investigating (because why not?). Rupert Friend, Bernadette Peters, Matt Dillon and Brad Garrett also star in High Desert , which counts Severance director Ben Stiller among its producers.

Reviews for Apples latest series have been largely positive, with particular praise bestowed upon Arquettes turn as Peggy, so this could be one of this years best Apple TV Plus series .

Now available to stream on Apple TV Plus. XO, Kitty (Netflix)

Netflix audiences have continued to lap up the streamers To All the Boys franchise across three increasingly schmaltzy movies, so it was only a matter of time before a series spin-off arrived.

Called XO, Kitty , this Seoul-set romcom stars Anna Cathcart as the titular Kitty, a teenage matchmaker who moves halfway across the world to reconnect with her long-distance boyfriend. She quickly finds, however, that dealing with her own feelings isnt quite so simple as dealing with others.

If youve seen any of the To All the Boys films, youll know what to expect
from this 10-episode series: charm, cheese and a million jokes a minute.

Now available to stream on Netflix. Angel City (HBO Max)

The first of this weeks (four) documentary picks is Angel City on HBO Max (which will soon transform into just 'Max' on May 23).

Similar in style to Hulu/Disney Plus Welcome to Wrexham , this three-part series takes a microscope to Los Angeles professional women's soccer team, Angel City, which was founded in 2020 by actor Natalie Portman, venture capitalist Kara Nortman and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman. But just how difficult is it to build a successful sports franchise from scratch? Very, judging by the series' trailer.

All three episodes of Angel City are now available to stream on HBO Max, and while no UK release date has been announced for the series just yet, we
expect it to premiere on Sky and NOW in the coming months.

Now available to stream on HBO Max in the US. Working: What We Do All Day (Netflix)

If youre in the mood for a reality check with some added gravitas this weekend, try docuseries Working: What We Do All Day on Netflix.

This four-episode show follows former US president Barack Obama as he travels America to explore the meaning of work in a time of rapid change. Along the way, he speaks to all manner of US citizens from hotel staff and store supervisors to political lobbyists and CEOs. All three episodes of Working: What We Do All Day are available to stream now.

Now available to stream on Netflix. The Secrets of Hillsong (Hulu)

The third of this weeks documentary recommendations is The Secrets of
    Hillsong on Hulu.

Based on Alex French and Dan Adlers explosive Vanity Fair reporting on the titular megachurchs various scandals, this four-part docuseries shines a
light on celebrity pastor Carl Lentz who features extensively throughout
and Hillsongs alleged attempts to cover up acts of violence and abuse over multiple decades.

The first two episodes of The Secrets of Hillsong are available to stream now on Hulu in the US, with the remaining two dropping on May 26. UK viewers will likely find this one streaming on Disney Plus in the coming months.

Now available to stream on Hulu in the US. Love to Love You, Donna Summer (HBO Max)

Music fans, this ones for you: Love to Love You, Donna Summer is now
    streaming on HBO Max.

Co-produced by the titular singers daughter, Brooklyn Sudano, and Oscar-winning documentarian Roger Ross Williams, this feature-length documentary examines the life and legacy of legendary disco-era chart-topper Donna Summer. Could It Be Magic? Youll have to watch to find out.

Now available to stream on HBO Max.

    to watch this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

If youre not heading out to catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 this weekend
which is now playing in theaters and IMAX worldwide the likes of Netflix , Prime Video and HBO Max have plenty to keep you entertained from the comfort of your own home.

Headlining the latest crop of arrivals is new Apple TV Plus drama Silo ,
which begins streaming alongside spin-off series set in the worlds of Bridgerton and Star Wars on Netflix and Disney Plus , respectively.

Below, weve rounded up seven new movies and TV shows to catch on streaming services over the next few days. Silo (Apple TV Plus)

Apples latest foray into sci-fi entertainment, Silo , begins streaming on Apple TV Plus this weekend and it could be one of the best Apple TV Plus shows yet.

Adapted from Hugh Howeys acclaimed novel series, this 10-episode adventure centers on a colony of humans who live in a giant silo buried a mile beneath the surface. The Earth above them was supposedly ravaged by an apocalyptic event, but nobody seems to remember when or why that is, until Rebecca Fergusons Juliette goes looking for answers.

Tim Robbins, Common, Harriet Walter, Rashida Jones and David Oyelowo also
star in Silo , which critics have described as absolutely thrilling. The
shows first two episodes are available to stream now, with the remaining
eight entries set to arrive weekly every Friday through June 30.

Now available to stream on Apple TV Plus. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton
    Story (Netflix)

It was only a matter of time before the whimsical world of Bridgerton was expanded further, and the franchises first spin-off series, Queen Charlotte:
A Bridgerton Story , has arrived to oblige expectant fans.

This prequel to one of the best Netflix shows centers on the titular Queen Charlotte, whose marriage to King George of England ushers in a new era of English high society. Golda Rosheuvel reprises her role from the original series, though the majority of the heavy lifting here is done by India Amarteifio, who plays a younger version of Charlotte

Reviews for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story have been near-universally positive, so new and existing Bridgerton fans should find plenty of drama, romance, comedy to enjoy from this one.

Now available to stream on Netflix . Star Wars: Visions season 2 (Disney Plus)

The Mandalorian season 3 may have been and gone, but Star Wars fans can
still get their weekly fix of a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Visions season 2, which is now streaming on Disney Plus.

Once again comprising standalone Star Wars stories from several different animation studios including Aardman, Cartoon Saloon and Studio Mir this follow-up anthology series tells of a daring prison escape, a wannabe starfighter and a former Sith apprentice who comes face-to-face with her old master.

Critics have described Star Wars: Visions season 2 as spectacular and a stunning feat of animation, so this definitely isnt one to miss for Disney Plus subscribers.

Now available to stream on Disney Plus. White House Plumbers (HBO Max)

Finally arriving after countless delays in time for the 50th anniversary of the Watergate scandal is White House Plumbers on HBO Max.

Starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux, this five-episode series retells the events of that infamous 1972 break-in from the perspective of President Nixon's chief political operatives, E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Theroux) who accidentally overturned the Presidency they were trying to protect.

Judy Greer, Lena Headey, Domhnall Gleeson, Kathleen Turner and F. Murray Abraham also star in White House Plumbers , which critics have described as laugh-out-loud outrageous. The shows first episode is available to stream
now, with the remaining four entries set to arrive weekly every Monday
through May 29. UK viewers will find this one streaming on Sky and NOW later in the year.

Now available to stream on HBO Max. A Small Light (Hulu, Disney Plus)

If youre in the mood for an inspiring though not exactly uplifting story of selfless heroism this weekend, look no further than A Small Light .

Now streaming on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK, this National Geographic-produced series chronicles the bravery of Miep (Bel Powley) and
Jan Gies (Joe Cole), who bravely sheltered Otto Frank (Liev Schreiber) and
his family including, most famously, his daughter Anne (Billie Boullet) during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam in World War II.

The first two episodes of A Small Light which has been praised by critics
for its charm and poignance are available to stream now, with the remaining six episodes arriving weekly every Monday through May 22.

Now available to stream on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK. Bupkis (Peacock)

Love him or loathe him, Pete Davidson seems to have a hand in every new
comedy series these days, and the former SNL stars cultural footprint grows even larger this weekend with Bupkis on Peacock .

Co-created by and starring Davidson himself, Bupkis finds the actor
struggling to navigate his career, relationships and mental health while playing a fictionalized version of, well, Pete Davidson.

Edie Falco, Ray Romano, Steve Buscemi, Bobby Cannavale, Jon Stewart and Joe Pesci in only his second-ever TV role also star in the eight-episode
series, which has earned mixed reviews from critics.

Now available to stream on Peacock. Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All (Disney Plus)

This weeks documentary pick charts the highs, the lows and everything in between of British pop sensation Ed Sheeran.

Featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the stars life on the road and at home, this four-part Netflix docuseries aims to show that even the
most successful artists can endure periods of pain, loss and self-doubt.

Critics have called The Sum of It All an astonishingly raw [depiction] of Sheerans grief and incredible creativity, though we thought you might be better off watching Lewis Capaldis Netflix documentary instead .

Now available to stream on Disney Plus.
