One of the things I was hoping to do was decrease the size of the message header and footer and increase the amount of readable text on the
screen. Our tradition of 80x24 is something I find slightly oppressive and I was hoping to ease the pain of that a bit.
After wrestling with ansimrd.ans a bit, I was able to trim the header
down to three lines. However, the message body displays and truncates where it always did.
I cannot see any way of changing of this; but in the event someone knows
a workaround for this so I can have the message body start on line 4 and end on line 23, I would appreciate it.
If you can, look at the stock ansimrd.ans file... you'll notice, I think at the very end of the file, the !!1 and !!2 (first ! is a | of course...). Those are where you tell Mystic to allow message text to live in between.
Now, it gets tricky to explain to you, and thats why I mentioned looking at the STOCK ansimrd.ans files - when I created my custom ANSI message headers [ansimrd.ans], I had to use ANSI animation to like... draw the ANSI i wanted first, and then go back and insert all the !codes afterwards.
I know some people have figured out ways to NOT use ANSI animation to get this done - but its what I had to do. I used THEDRAW and created my custom message header ANSI... then turned on animation mode and drew in all the:
!$R40!MG
!$R40!MB
!!1
!!2
etc etc. I hope this helps a TINY bit... but Mystic will put text in between the !!1 and !!2... I *think* why you might be having problems is the same reason I had to use ANSI animation... and possibly if you used it, you might see results that fix your issue.
Another thing I might be able to do is... edit your ansimrd.ans for you. :P Its hard to explain the ways I work around Mystic stuff - and I'm sure my way isn't the best.... but it works for me.
Lemme know if you need any help at all - I'm sure we could tackle it together and learn a bit along the way. Pls tell me if any of my ramblings helped at all. Lol.
