Fully vaccinated family, we're heading a few miles down the highway to attend an Oakland A's game today -- they're playing Tampa Bay Rays.

Feels so odd/good getting ready to go out into a more normal world today. I hope it's starting to feel that way for others, as well.

A's stadium (Coliseum) is only 25% capacity, so every group of 4 seats is separated by another 12 empty, i think. Have to use the MLB app to order food and pickup, but supposedly lots of hawkers to make it easy not to leave your seat.

    Go A's!

    Or any team. Just go.

They usually don't get enough attendance even before Rona days.

For me with the Dodgers, they are falling hard where I would not see them even if we had no restrictions or the Rona happening right now.

well done and congrats. Over here they are starting to roll out the vaccines but the wider general population stuff starts around July onwards. NZ has
been quite lucky with it's management of borders and early lock down so the widespread nature o Covid has not hit us as hard as other countries. I'll be glad to get my jabs x 2 in the next few months.

well done and congrats. Over here they are starting to roll out the vaccines but the wider general population stuff starts around July onwards.

We have been working on that here. The roll out seems a bit slow, logistics I think.

I have an appointment for my first shot on the 11th, and my lady friend on the 20th.

NZ has been quite lucky with it's management of borders and early
lock down so the widespread nature o Covid has not hit us as hard as other countries. I'll be glad to get my jabs x 2 in the next few months.

We have done fairly well here in BC although we have seen records set and broken. Some parts of Canada are having a hard time with new infections and hospitalizations.

We are in a third wave here now and the health authorities are preparing for a forth. I hope the vaccine role out will stop that from happening but we'll have to see how all that pans out.

    Hi Alpha!

Fully vaccinated family, we're heading a few miles down the highway to attendan Oakland A's game today -- they're playing Tampa Bay Rays.

I don't know what Oakland A's are but fully vaccinated family sounds great. Most of my family has been vaccinated once. My wife currently isn't allowed unfortunately though. I hope that changes soon.

Feels so odd/good getting ready to go out into a more normal world
today. Ihope it's starting to feel that way for others, as well.

I bet! I hope for a kind of normal world in about a year. We mustn't forget the people from India, South America, Africa etc though. They need vaccines too.

In general a well working treatment would be good besides the vaccines.

Next stop for the world will hopefully finally looking climate change into the eye and doing something about it. It will be hard and uncomfortable but Covid-19 taught us that one of the most important things in life is company with other people. Even if we have to drastically change our lifestyle to tackle climate change, we learnt that company is much more important than luxory goods.

Yes we need both. Something to minimize the length of time one gets sick from it and something to minimize complications or need for ventilators.

I was happy to get my second jab of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on Friday (I have to specify both, because Americans call it Pfizer, and Germans preferentially go for BioNTech).

I was especially happy that my reaction was slight arm soreness and intermittent fatigue that didn't stop me from driving for 7 hours on the
first night and walking around for a couple of hours in 35C-ish heat.

So I had it pretty easy.

Numbers are _fairly_ low here, but really only in comparison to what came before, or other areas of the US.

But, like many people, I'm still struggling to figure out what activities I'm okay with. "Eating indoors at a crowded restaurant" seems like it'll still be out ever after I'm past the two-week period.

I was on the further end of the spectrum of mitigation, I was really careful ans protected and I stayed separate from the world for a year - but I've been going out a bit more... even 3 months ago I'd goto outdoor/different setups at restaurants and... its time, I think.

I don't know what Oakland A's are but fully vaccinated family sounds great.

Major league baseball team. Rival of my LA Angels. :-)

Fully vaccinated family here (down south) too. Well, the 14 year old just got her first shot yesterday, but the rest of us are all well past our second shots (Pfizer).

Most of my family lives in Southern California, all Angels fans. If I
didn't live near Oakland, they'd probably be my team (could never support
    the Giants). Rock on!

    Hi Digital Man :)

Major league baseball team. Rival of my LA Angels. :-)

I see... We don't have any baseball here. I sometimes see some games in US movies but it mostly confuses me. I just know a homerun is something good.

Fully vaccinated family here (down south) too. Well, the 14 year old

That's great! I hope my wife will get the OK to get vaccinated soon and also decide to do it. The rest of the family all got their first shot. Nobody had their second yet but one is better than none at least...

    Best regards,

Long time Oakland resident, old-school A's and Raiders fan. It was a lot of fun in the early 2000s having two teams in my local area - and the local
color was way more exciting than at Giants or 49ers games!
