I'm actually doing similar. While my accounts are active on FB (for now) and Twitter, I'm not using them in any direct way. The apps are off my phone, I never go to FB on my computers, and Twitter only exists for blog post sharing purposes -- I'm not active on there either beyond automated stuff.

SDF, Gopher, and a renewed interest in my BBS are taking over currently, along with my standard activities in the phone phreak community. Mastodon on SDF is proving nice, but beyond things like that I've finally gotten myself to for the most part abandon social media, primarily for my mental health.

    It's pure evil...

Facebook is still too useful to me. Twitter, I keep around mainly so I can follow (mostly technical) links people send via Twitter. I've had less use for LinkedIn in recent years, but that may change next year. But there's likely to be a change in the nature of my activity there.

    Congratulations!

Twitter is trollheim, Facebook's signal/noise ratio makes it unusable (and besides
they manipulate content to suit their agendas). I tried LinkedIn but it did nothing
for me. It is amusing to see that the original comm platforms are the ones still
working fine after all these years to an acceptable level of usability.

I've actually done more "facebook" lately because of some groups I've
been in - people are posting pictures and I've enjoyed loooking at
    those. :-)

As for Twitter - there are some people that I contact there and if I
need THEM to see something, that's where I'll put it. :-)

I do find there's a number of useful Facebook groups around.

I only keep a Twitter account, so I can easily view Twitter links that others send me!

Yeah - I think it's like everything else - there are people there
that share interests, and thus it makes THOSE GROUPS worth 'hanging out
in" from time to time, much like echos here on BBS's. :-)

Yeah, there's certainly similarities between echomail and some smaller FB groups. :)

Whatever floats your boat, but yes, Facebook has its uses, from niche groups to organisations and clubs using it internally.
