    Not to mention RTX 3070 and 3060 graphics cards, as stock levels strengthen and prices get more back to normal.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

    Nvidia seems to be selling a good deal more RTX 3080 graphics cards , and other RTX 3000 models for that matter, at least if the latest Steam survey is anything to go by.

    The results are in for the May 2022 hardware survey of gamers using the Steam platform, showing that the RTX 3080 is the fastest climbing GPU in the chart, being present in 1.27% of PCs in April, and now 1.51% in May an increase of 0.24%.

    Other big climbers include the RTX 3070 which is in second place, having gained 0.19% to sit on a total share of 2.13% now, and the RTX 3060 is in fourth, up 0.18% to hit a total of 2.36%.

    Remember, this is the measurement of the biggest increases, and the RTX 3080
    , 3070 and 3060 still arent that near the top of the overall GPU rankings, of course. The top spot is held by the GTX 1060 (on 7.17%), but the 3060 and
    3070 are in tenth and eleventh places respectively, and the 3080 has moved up to fifteenth (its closing on the RTX 3060 Ti in fourteenth, in fact, which also gained 0.15% this month). Analysis: Impressive growth but maybe not for much longer?

    Its interesting to see RTX 3000 graphics cards making some solid gains across the board, particularly the RTX 3080, which is, of course, not a cheap GPU by any means. That said, prices are coming down as availability of the RTX 3080 and other Ampere GPUs becomes better so given that, its not surprising to
    see the graphics card doing better in the Steam rankings.

    While a 0.24% increase for the month may not sound all that impressive, its the biggest upward mover as noted, and a marked increase compared to the slow growth the RTX 3080 has seen since the start of this year. In January, this graphics card was present in 1.11% of Steam PCs surveyed, and that had only risen to 1.27% as of April meaning that the uptick for May is way bigger
    than the traction gained throughout all the previous months of 2022.

    We shouldnt get too carried away with any one source of stats, naturally, as this is not necessarily representative of the entire PC market but Valves figures do line up with what wed expect to be happening given the increase in GPU stock of late, and downward pressure on pricing.

    There could be a spanner in the works for the onwards and upwards progress of RTX 3000 graphics cards, though, as Nvidia recently observed . Namely that while GeForce GPU supply is expected to remain strong in the near future, Nvidia is rumored to be about to reveal its next-gen RTX 4000 cards, and when those are shown off, itll likely mean that many gamers will hold fire on any potential purchase until these incoming Lovelace GPUs go on sale. And the RTX 4080 could potentially be on shelves as soon as September , or so we hear. Nvidias new budget GPU might be imminent but dont get excited about it
