create one massive animated canvas. China has added another milestone to the rapidly expanding drone industry after a large-scale aerial performance established three Guinness World Records during a public event in Sichuan Province.
The achievement drew attention not only because of the number of drones involved, but also because of the enormous visual display. The record-setting event was organized by Yufengzhe Technology, which launched 33,615 drones simultaneously over an airport in Dujiangyan, a city located in Sichuan, China. According to event organizers, the floating display covered about 148,561 square metres, creating a massive illuminated structure suspended above the airport.
Rather than functioning as individual visual elements, the drones worked together to form a giant aerial canvas capable of displaying complex images and animations.
The achievement demonstrated the scale that coordinated drone technology can now reach when thousands of aircraft operate under centralized control. Drone shows have become common in recent years as alternatives to traditional fireworks displays.
In a record-breaking event, more than 10,000 drones fly as one to create a huge display celebrating Vietnams history and development.
Similarly, to celebrate Easter, 10,000 drones flocked in Texas to tell the story of Jesus, crushing four world records. Cultural themes filled the massive aerial display The visual content shown during the performance
focused heavily on Chinese cultural and regional themes connected to Sichuan and the surrounding area.
Giant pandas appeared among the aerial images, reflecting one of the region's most widely recognized symbols.
Organizers also incorporated representations of the 28 traditional Chinese constellations alongside imagery associated with Bashu culture and local history.
Additional scenes linked Dujiangyan's long historical heritage with emerging low-altitude aviation technologies currently receiving growing attention across China.
The event demonstrated how drone fleets can be used for artistic and entertainment purposes on a scale previously associated only with large ground-based displays.
Even a beginner drone used for recreational flying operates on many of the same fundamental principles, although the complexity increases when thousands of aircraft must move simultaneously with precise timing.
The performance also reflects broader investment in drone technologies across multiple sectors, including logistics, mapping, and public events.
Record-setting displays like this attract public attention, but they also serve as demonstrations of large-scale coordination capabilities that may
have applications beyond entertainment.
