    Description:
From Foundation's return to Bosch's latest spin-off, here's what you'll want to watch this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Huzzah! You've survived another week of work and there's only one thing you need to do now. Okay, watch Superman in your local theater, but then there's only one thing left to do: put your feet up and find something new to watch
on the world's best streaming services .

There's an eclectic mix of new movies , shows, and documentaries worth watching, too. From Bosch 's latest spin-off to a Dexter sequel show, here's what you won't want to miss this weekend. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Ballard (Prime Video)

Ready to step back into the murky underbelly of LA? In another expansion of Amazon's crime drama universe Bosch , one of the best Prime Video shows has received another spinoff (the first being Bosch: Legacy ) in Ballard .

This time, the titular Rene Ballard, a homicide detective, is the
protagonist. She has the same grittiness of Harry Bosch, but operates more within the confines of police procedure even if filing a complaint against the department gets her ostracized.

Relegated to a new role as head of an underfunded cold case division, Ballard uncovers new evidence in long forgotten crimes that lead to an even bigger conspiracy she wasn't expecting. Maggie Q reprises her role as the lead investigator and is mesmerizing in all 10 episodes, which are now streaming
on Prime Video . Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Ballard on Prime Video Brick (Netflix)

Picture this: you suddenly find that you're trapped inside of your home by a mysterious magnetic brick wall blocking all the exits. Where did it come
from? What does it mean? And most importantly, how do you get out?

One of July's new Netflix movies Brick has an intriguing premise reminiscent of escape the room plots that you'll recognize from films like the horrifying Cube, Saw, and The Platform . It's got everything you'd expect: suspense, survival, and a character arc that overcomes adversity, but it's been slammed by critics for being pretty slapdash.

So, it's by no means one of the best Netflix movies , but the Netflix German thriller does tackle an intriguing puzzle that might lure you in. AS Watch Brick on Netflix Foundation season 3 (Apple TV+)

Apple TV+ is home to myriad fantastic sci-fi series. And, if you're not watching Foundation i.e. one of its best genre offerings yet, you're
missing out, especially if you're an avid fan of epic space operas.

Foundation season 3 has just made its debut and it further cements its claim as one of the best Apple TV+ shows around. Check out my Foundation season 3 review to find out why.

This season's first episode is out now on Apple's streaming service and,
while new chapters will be released every Friday, you've got two seasons' worth of story to catch up on if you haven't seen it yet. Whether you're a
fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune or numerous other tentpole sci-fi franchises, you'll love what's on offer here, trust me. TP Watch Foundation season 3 on Apple TV+ Too Much (Netflix)

Lena Dunham's new Netflix show lives up to the hype (read my Too Much review to learn more). She's effortlessly staying more relevant than ever behind the camera (and in front, with a cheeky appearance in episode 1), but Megan Stalter is a delectable leading lady of this project, which even goes as far as to show her releasing her own 'London Bridge' music video with Fergie.

Lets get one thing straight, though: this isnt Girls 2.0. Theres still a decent amount of chaos and day-to-day drama in Too Much , but Jessicas (Stalter) solo transformational journey is elevated by her move across the pond. Its Jessicas world and were just living in it, complete with an endless list of celebrity cameos that are each somehow better than the last in one of the best Netflix shows I've seen in a while. Jasmine Valentine,
entertainment writer Watch Too Much on Netflix Opus (Max)

What do you get when you cross The Bear 's Ayo Edebiri and acting stalwart John Malkovich in the confines of a rural commune? An absolute maniacal experience for everyone involved known as Opus . Okay, reviews have been mixed, but it would be lazy to compare it to a pop-culture rehash of
    Midsommar .

Before the ridiculously unhinged ending of one of the best HBO Max movies , its probably not a surprise to learn Malkovich is incredibly casting for our reclusive pop icon, with both his mindset and musical performances leaving us disorientated. Nobody is more confused than Edebiris ingnue writer Ariel, and its her naive sense of fearlessness that continues to raise the stakes. Its also worth keeping your eye out for whos in the background Lil Nas X and Lenny Kravitz are among those with uncredited roles as super fans in this A24 flick that's out now on HBO Max . JV Watch Opus on Max Dexter: Resurrection (Paramount+)

I never got the hype around Dexter when it first aired, but I can appreciate it's been popular enough to become a franchise in its own right.

Its longevity won't be called into question anytime soon, either, with the release of Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ . The sequel to Dexter: New Blood , aka the first sequel to the original series, reunites us with Michael C. Hall's antihero who spoilers survived a near-fatal shooting in New Blood . Now fully recovered, he's on the trail his son Harrison, who was
    responsible for pulling the trigger.

Dexter Morgan's first two TV productions are some of the best Paramount+
shows around, so don't be surprised if this one is similarly well received and/or becomes a hit with general viewers. TP Watch Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+ One Night in Idaho: The College Murders (Prime Video)

You might not think of Prime Video as a go-to for bingeable true crime
series, but One Night in Idaho: The College Murders isn't one to be missed.

In November 2022, four University of Idaho students were fatally stabbed in
an off-campus residence, with suspect Bryan Christopher Kohberger sentenced
to four consecutive life sentences earlier this month.

Rather than being sensationalist, this documentary is a tender examination of who the four students were, and shows how their families and friends of have dealt with, or continue to dealing with, their grief. JV Watch One Night in Idaho: The College Murders on Prime Video

    Description:
It's been an eclectic week of new movies, TV shows, and documentaries on the world's best streaming services.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

After a busy few weeks in the world of streaming, it's been relatively quiet on the new movies and TV shows release front over the past few days.

The world's best streaming services have released some new content for you to enjoy, though, including the return of a big Amazon TV Original and three wildly different shows on Netflix . So, no matter what type of entertainment fare and/or genres you're into, there's something in this week's recommendations article that'll appeal to you. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 (Prime Video)

Prime Video takes centre stage following the release of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 , aka one of the best Prime Video shows ' final season.

If you thought Belly had found her soulmate at the end of season 2, think again, because she's not quite done with the Fisher boys yet. However, while the show is based on showrunner Jenny Han's book series namesake, it's taken some creative liberties that make it diabolically different from the books .

Regardless of the adaptation's differences, the 'will they, won't they' trope is firmly keeping us glued to the screens to see what surprise twists might unfold during this next long vacation. After all, it's not summer until we
get to Cousins Beach. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 on Prime Video The Amateur (Hulu/Disney+)

A remake of Robert Littell's 1981 novel and its movie namesake that arrived that same year, 20th Century Studios' retelling of The Amateur has finally landed on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally).

Mr. Robot and James Bond alumnus Rami Malek plays CIA cryptographer Charlie Heller, who takes matters into his own hands after his wife is killed by terrorists and his own agency refuses to help him find those responsible because it'll impact a wider investigation into the criminal network.
Laurence Fishburne is among its starry cast,

The Amateur 's 61% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes suggests it shouldn't infiltrate our best Hulu movies and best Disney+ movies lists, but its 88% audience score indicates it might. Keep your eyes and ears out, then, to see if it'll stealth its way onto one or both guides. TP Watch The Amateur on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Untamed (Netflix)

Ready to marvel at giant granite cliffs and redwoods from the comfort of your home? Netflix's new murder mystery drama Untamed will take you to the wilds
    of Yosemite National Park .

The six-episode series sees Eric Bana ( Dirty John; Troy ) play a ranger/special agent of the National Parks Service who gets swept up in an investigation over a brutal death that ends up leading him down a much darker path that isn't just vistas and pretty scenery.

Creators Mark Smith ( The Revenant, American Primeval ) and Elle Smith ( The Marsh Kings Daughter ) are no strangers to gritty dramas, so we can expect this potential addition to our best Netflix shows list to be as gripping as
it is beautiful. AS Watch Untamed on Netflix Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 (Paramount+)

It's time to hop back on board the USS Enterprise as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 has launched. One of the best Paramount+ shows was renewed
for a fourth season in April, too, so fans can rest assured there's more to come.

This installment in the sci-fi franchise has been met with critical acclaim and has a fresh 85% Rotten Tomatoes score, so this Paramount+ TV Original is
a must-watch for Trekkies across the globe.

Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike is back to lead weekly adventures throughout the cosmos alongside Ethan Peck's Spock, Jess Bush's Christine Chapel, and the rest of the crew who are on hand to help out. It's both new and comfortingly familiar with outfits, characters, and references that long-term Star Trek fans will adore. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 on Paramount+ Billy Joel: And So It Goes (HBO Max)

HBO Max is sitting down with the Piano Man this weekend, with a two-part documentary exploring the life and career of musician Billy Joel.

Early reviews are very positive indeed and, while there might not be much
here for non-fans, it'll be a real treat for those keen to learn more about the singer-songwriter.

Indeed, fans can tune in to an "expansive portrait of the life and music of Billy Joel, exploring the love, loss, and personal struggles that fuel his songwriting". You can expect to see exclusive performances, home movies, and one-on-one interviews in this week's and next week's installments. LB Watch Billy Joel: And So It Goes on HBO Max Trainwreck: Balloon Boy (Netflix)

From Poop Cruise to The Cult of American Appare l, Netflix's Trainwreck docuseries has been beyond unhinged. Even so, Balloon Boy might just have
them all beat as it tells the story of 6-year-old Falcon, who was allegedly stuck inside a gas balloon resembling a UFO built by his parents.

Don't panic: the story doesn't have a tragic ending, but rather a completely bizarre one. Falcon's balloon plight turned out to be an elaborate hoax, supposedly the brainchild of parents Richard and Mayumi Heene. The reveal
that Balloon Boy is actually a publicity stunt won't spoil your watch the horror is in the detail of how it came to be. Plus, we're finally getting the full account from the Heenes themselves, which seems to be brilliant news to Falcon. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch Trainwreck: Balloon
Boy on Netflix Sakamoto Days season 1 part 2 (Netflix)

You thought Taro Sakamoto was done after merely 10 episodes? Taro Sakamoto is never done, even when he says he is.

The hit Netflix anime, which follows a former hitman who ditched his high-profile life to raise a family, and now has his former colleagues are after revenge, took off with its first half earlier this year. It's as endearing as it is exciting, revolving around the idea that family isn't something you're born into, but something you choose.

Sakamoto Days perfectly toes the line of drama and comedy, punching out something heartfelt, high-octane, and genuinely laugh-out-loud with each landed blow. In part 2, we're expecting to see a set of death row inmates freed in order to try and kill Sakamoto, if the manga is anything to go by. JV Watch Sakamoto Days season 1 part 2 on Netflix

From Happy Gilmore 2 to The Sandman's ending, here's what you'll want to stream this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Who's ready for another packed line-up of new movies and TV shows? Whether you'll be seeing the final Marvel movie of 2025 The Fantastic Four: First Steps in a theater near you, or plan on watching something at home instead,
I bet you answered "me!" to that question.

So, what's out this week? For one, a couple of heavy hitters on Netflix , but there's plenty to enjoy on more of the world's best streaming services , too. You better get your skates on, then, and continue scrolling to learn more. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Happy Gilmore 2 (Netflix)

Adam Sandler is about to tee off again as Happy Gilmore, a hockey player turned golfer. It's been almost 30 years since the original film and I'm looking forward to seeing him back on our screens.

The pressure is on, of course, as Happy Gilmore 2 's predecessor will be a tough act to follow. But, with returning cast members like Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller as well as newcomers like The Substance 's Margaret Qualley, I have high hopes.

Will this make it onto our esteemed best Netflix movies list or be another disappointing sequel? We'll have to hope this isn't a swing and a miss. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix The Phoenician Scheme (Peacock)

If you've got an appetite for symmetry, quirky vibes, and another Bill Murray collab, Wes Anderson is back with his latest big-screen flick that's out now on Peacock .

The Phoenician Scheme holds a 78% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes which means it's another of Anderson's myriad films that's worth watching. This movie follows the daughter of a wealthy businessman who becomes the sole heir to his estate. She soon becomes the target of scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists, and determined assassins, resulting in a solid espionage comedy. LB Watch The Phoenician Scheme on Peacock The Sandman season 2 volume 2 (Netflix)

It's the end of the road for Dream/Morpheus in The Sandman , with Netflix calling time on its live-action adaptation of controversial author Neil Gaiman's graphic novel namesake. Indeed, the second half of The Sandman
season 2 , which brings the high-fantasy series to an unceremonious conclusion, is out now on the streaming titan.

As I said when the final season's first volume arrived a few weeks ago, I won't be tuning in to see how it wraps things up because of the numerous allegations made against Gaiman over the past 12 months. Still, with the show featuring in Netflix's in-house TV charts since its return, there are people who are watching it and will want to know how it ends. For that reason alone, The Sandman 2 takes a spot on this week's streaming list. TP Watch The Sandman season 2 volume 2 on Netflix Washington Black (Hulu/Disney+)

Washington Black , which is out now on Hulu and on Disney+ , gives us a globe-trotting and sort-of time-hopping adventure that takes us from Barbados in 1829 to Nova Scotia in 1837.

An adaptation of Esi Edugyans Booker-shortlisted novel namesake, it follows the eponymous character whose story begins enslaved on a brutal sugar cane plantation. However, he soon takes flight literally as he escapes with an eccentric inventor, journeys aboard a swashbuckling pirate ship, and
discovers a life of science and freedom.

This series looks to have everything you could want from one of the best Hulu shows : a coming-of-age adventure shaped by overcoming adversity, eccentric characters, and a grand narrative that spans continents. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Washington Black on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Death of a Unicorn (HBO Max)

Richard E. Grant as a kitschy camp villain is like managing to find an ice cream truck on the hottest day of the year. You know it's going to be bad for your health, but you can't just help gorging on its deliciousness. There's every reason we shouldn't be rooting for him in A24's Death of a Unicorn (or most of the people in this cast), which is now on HBO Max , but he's just so darn good as a malevolent rich man with an agenda.

The Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega-led flick is an absolutely wild beast of a movie (it's RT scores will say otherwise, though) that makes us laugh inappropriately while terrible people are getting their skin flayed by deadly unicorns. It's a unique perspective to have such a far-fetched moral dilemma (keep unicorns alive or harvest a cure for cancer), and the volatility of how it plays out never fails to have me on the edge of my seat. One to add to our best HBO Max movies guide? Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch Death of a Unicorn on HBO Max Acapulco season 4 (Apple TV+)

Two time-jumping series in one week? Arent we lucky. The critically-acclaimed Apple TV+ show Acapulco that uses flashbacks to tell its story has returned for its fourth and final season.

This time, it follows pool boy turned resort manager Mximo, played by executive producer Eugenio Derbez ( CODA ), as he restores the hotel Las Colinas to its former glory before the big grand reopening. As usual, we'll also see how the working class hotel owner achieved such a feat with flashbacks to 1986.

Inspired by the film How to Be a Latin Lover , Acapulco has made a name for itself as one of the best Apple TV+ shows for its heartfelt tale about an ambitious businessman's dream and how he made it reality. AS Watch Acapulco season 4 on Apple TV+ Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War (Prime Video)

Listen, if there's a documentary about some sort of fanatical teen mania, I'm there. Prime Video 's Shiny Happy People is back with another season, this
one being titled A Teenage Holy War that looks at America's largest evangelical youth organization founded by Ron Luce in the 1990s. Amazingly, the combination of religion, psychological warfare, and political agendas are still having an effect today, meaning we've got four meaty episodes of prolonged chaos to binge.

These types of fundamentalist Christian movements were created in the 1990s and 2000s to try and get young'uns on board with a blend of pop culture and youth ministry. It's less cringey concerts with a Jesus theme, though, and more high-energy Christian rock that makes its teen fans endlessly sob. To
top it all off, there's messages promoting abstinence until marriage thrown
in for good measure. Essentially, this Amazon docuseries is a smorgasbord of ideologies from start to finish - JV Watch Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War on Prime Video

From My Oxford Year and Final Destination: Bloodlines, to Eyes of Wakanda and Chief of War, here's what's worth watching this weeknd.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

It's time to settle down and enjoy one or more of the new movies and TV shows that have landed on the best streaming services over the past few days.

All but one of the world's leading streamers have got something to offer this weekend step it up, Paramount+ so, regardless of which platform(s) you're signed up, you're well and truly spoiled when it comes to new content to
watch at home. Warm up your scrolling finger, then, and read on to see what you can enjoy before Monday comes back around. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter My Oxford Year (Netflix)

Remember how One Day suddenly arrived on Netflix and instantly made us bawl our eyes out? I've got a funny feeling that My Oxford Year is going to have exactly the same effect.

One of August's new Netflix movies tells the story of ambitious American student travels to Oxford in England to fulfil her dream, but encounters a charming local who changes both their lives. I wonder if that local just happens to be tall, dark, and handsome?

Given this is also an adaptation of Julia Whelan's novel, we can pretty much guarantee My Oxford Year is going to be a slam dunk for the streamer. Cue a lot of rose-tinted whimsy, an influx of Americans on social media who think all of England is like Notting Hill , and bundles of sweet nerdy chemistry. Frankly, it's cheaper than trying to study abroad. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch My Oxford Year on Netflix Eyes of Wakanda
    (Disney+)

The latest Marvel project to have Ryan Coogler's award-winning creative fingerprints on it, Eyes of Wakanda has launched on Disney+ three weeks earlier than anyone expected .

A four-part anthology series that further explores the history of Wakanda,
aka the technologically advanced African nation that exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ( MCU ), this Black Panther spin-off series follows
various Wakanda spy-cum-warriors across four time periods as they try to recover their nation's stolen artefacts and weaponry. Eyes of Wakanda is available in full now on Disney+ , too, so you won't be made to wait a week between each 30-minute installment.

It remains to be seen if it'll earn a spot on our best Disney+ shows list. But, with Coogler attached, I'd be shocked if this gorgeous-looking animated series doesn't continue Marvel's recent hot-streak (in my opinion, anyway) on the big and small screens. TP Watch Eyes of Wakanda on Disney+ Final Destination: Bloodlines (HBO Max)

I'm really enjoying these new horror installments with great reviews, aren't you? Saw X impressed the critics after years of flops and Final Destination Bloodlines , the franchise's sixth movie, did likewise earlier this year. So much so, it's now technically considered the best in the franchise.

Thankfully, the series' latest entry is now streaming on HBO Max . Get ready to be scared by, well, just about any everyday object as the franchise continues to kill its subjects in the most unexpected ways. If you want something to satisfy your bloodlust this weekend, look no further. Lucy Buglass , senior entertainment writer Watch Final Destination: Bloodlines on HBO Max Chief of War (Apple TV+)

Ive always felt there arent nearly enough TV shows that dive into Hawaiian history, which is why Im so glad Apple TV+ has finally stepped up.

Chief of War is a new historical drama that puts the spotlight on the Polynesian islands' powerful chiefdoms before colonization reshaped
everything at the turn of the 18th century. Jason Momoa plays Kaiana, a warrior chief determined to unite the four Hawaiian kingdoms as Western
forces loom. It's based on real events and as visually stunning as it is culturally rich.

The first two episodes are streaming now, with new episodes dropping every Friday until the finale on September 19. Ive already got this lined up on my watchlist and if youre even a little curious, Id recommend diving into this new Apple TV Original Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Chief of War on Apple TV+ Twisted Metal season 2 (Peacock)

Twisted Metal is back Peacock so, if you're in the mood for plenty of laughs and action, it's the show to watch. With a stellar cast including Brooklyn Nine-Nine 's Stephanie Beatriz and Captain America 's Anthony Mackie leading the series, plus Will Arnett as a killer clown, there's so much to love about Twisted Metal .

If you haven't seen season 1, it's based on its video game namesake and follows a talkative milkman with amnesia who's tasked with delivering a mysterious package in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Things are quickly dialed up to 100, too. LB Watch Twisted Metal season 2 on Peacock Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful (Hulu/Disney+)

First there was Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie , then came Renaissance: A
Film by Beyonc . Now, it's Miley's turn to shine, with her own music movie Something Beautiful being self-described as a "pop opera", and is now out on Hulu and Disney+ . Think less Starlight Express and more chic visual movie, which is essentially a continuous music video for every track on the synonymous album.

Essentially, this one is great for singing along to the Bangerz (see what I did there?) you might have missed from Cyrus in the last year, who's been
busy rebranding herself as the pop-rock icon we're learning to love all over again. Rumor has it that if you then stream the album on Spotify , you might allegedly be invited to a Hannah Montana-themed event (this isn't confirmed, but dare to dream). JV Watch Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues (Prime Video)

I love a good underdog story and Birmingham City FCs 2024/25 season is exactly that. Like Wrexham, Birmingham has seen a huge surge in performance, popularity, and sponsorship since American-Hollywood investors came onboard and now you can watch it all play out in Built In Birmingham: Brady & The Blues on Amazon's streaming platform..

The docuseries tracks the clubs transformation under NFL legend Tom Brady,
who became a minority owner in 2023. From the heartbreak of relegation to a record-breaking season, and automatic promotion to the EFL Sky Bet Championship, its a rollercoaster worth streaming. All five episodes are now available on Prime Video . If youre into comeback stories, this ones a must-watch. AS Watch Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues on Prime Video

    Description:
Wednesday season 2 is the week's most notable release, but there are plenty
of other new films and TV series to check out.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

It's time to unwind after a long week of work and what better way to do so than streaming one or several new movies and shows that have dropped this week?

Unsurprisingly, Wednesday 's second season has been the talk of the entertainment town over the last few days. However, many of the world's best streaming services have also got something interesting to offer, so one of
the biggest Netflix TV Originals of all-time isn't the only thing worth watching this weekend. Hop to it, then, and learn more about what else has arrived. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Wednesday season 2 part 1 (Netflix)

The queen of anti-socialness, goths, and the macabre has returned. Wednesday Addams is back on Netflix for her sophomore semester at Nevermore Academy and, considering it's been nearly three years since the hugely successful show's first season dropped, it's high time we were reunited with the psychic teen.

Wednesday season 2 won't be an easy ride for Jenna Ortega's eponymous character, though. Indeed, season 2's official trailer reveals she'll be in a race against time to save the life of her self-installed bestie Enid
Sinclair. There'll be numerous other intriguing subplots to unravel, too,
with the wider Addams Family having a larger role to play in proceedings than last time. Here's hoping one of the best Netflix shows ' second outing is as kooky and spooky as its forebear. TP Watch Wednesday season 2 on Netflix
King of the Hill season 14 (Hulu/Disney+)

Can you believe that little Bobby is all grown up? Hank and Peggy have returned to Middle America after a lengthy retirement, and it's incredible
how little their world seems to have changed in the interim. In reality, King of the Hill has been off our screens for the last 16 years and it's the perfect dose of nostalgia for the week.

The Hulu and Disney+ show as charming as I remember, and has somehow managed to pick up exactly where prior seasons left off. If you sewed them together, you'd hardly be able to see the seams. Frankly, that's a massive two fingers up to every other legacy sequel in existence. I promise it'll exceed your expectations, even if you can't fully remember the full Hank-lore (you don't really need to). Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch King of the Hill season 14 on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) The Pickup (Prime Video)

I love watching an action movie on a Friday night but, after reading early reviews for one of August's new Prime Video movies , I'm not getting my hopes up for The Pickup. Billed as a heist comedy, it pairs Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson as armored truck drivers caught in a criminal ambush.

On paper, this Prime Video flick sounds like the kind of plot that could set up thrilling action sequences but Im not convinced this ones going to deliver. Considering Murphy's track record with buddy comedies, his performance might be the only bright spark in what could otherwise be a car crash of an Amazon film. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch The Pickup on Prime Video Platonic season 2 (Apple TV+)

From the moment I saw the trailer for Platonic season 2 , I knew the Apple
TV+ series was onto another winner. The BFF (and things have strictly
remained platonic) chemistry between Rose Byrne's Sylvia and Seth Rogen's
Will is exactly the kind I hope I grow up to have, even if it comes with too many midlife hurdles for two people to handle. As Apple puts it: The duo
tries their best to be each others rock but sometimes rocks break things. That only means one thing... a huge helping of delicious drama.

As far as I'm concerned, tension and fallouts between two close friends hits
a lot harder than any lovers tiff or evil rivalry, and there's a genuine honesty and vulnerability that comes alongside the laughs this summer. It's the perfect summer comedy we've not yet been treated to, if you discount the bloody accidents on the golf course. JV Watch Platonic season 2 on Apple TV+ The Monkey (Hulu)

Osgood Perkins scared us all silly with the Nicolas Cage-led serial killer horror Longlegs , last year. Now, he's back with something very different. Based on a Stephen King story, The Monkey follows twin brothers who discover
a cursed toy monkey that causes horrific deaths around them.

It leans more into comedic gory horror than straight-up frights and there are some seriously shocking moments throughout. One of seven new horror movies on Prime Video, Shudder, HBO Max, and more you can't afford to miss this month. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch The Monkey on Hulu Freaky Tales (HBO Max)

Pedro Pascal has been a busy boy lately. Whether he's navigating the apocalypse in The Last of Us season 2 or putting his spandex on for The Fantastic Four: First Steps , he's been on our screens a lot, including in this anthology flick that's out now on HBO Max .

In Freaky Tales, we follow an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teenage punks, neo-Nazis and a debt collector set against an '80s backdrop. It's as varied as it sounds, with the movie showing us four interconnected stories that are sure to entertain. With a 74% Rotten Tomatoes critical
rating , it's worth checking out this weekend LB Watch Freaky Tales on HBO Max Stolen: Heist of the Century (Netflix)

Remember those headlines about the world's biggest diamond heist back in
2003? The story of Italian thieves robbing an estimated $100500 million from the vault of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre in the dead of the night has left many scratching their heads since, especially considering most of the gems have never been recovered.

Now, thanks to authors Scott Andrew Selby and Greg Campbell, we finally have the inside story. Their book Flawless detailed the daring operation and its now been adapted into a Netflix documentary. Think real-life Oceans Eleven , produced by one of the minds behind the brilliant Dont F**k with Cats . Im already sold. AS Watch Stolen: Heist of the Century on Netflix You might
also like I watched the first six episodes of Alien: Earth , and it's the Peter Pan-inspired sci-fi horror show I didn't know I needed Foundation

big fan theory about its plot

    Description:
From the return of Peacemaker to a trio of Netflix offerings, here's what's worth streaming this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

We're in a slightly weird place in the streaming world this week (August 18-24). As summer and winter start to wind down in the northern and southern hemispheres, the world's best streaming services appear to be withholding their biggest releases for the final few months of the year.

That's not to say there aren't some new movies and TV shows to catch over the next few days. From a popular HBO Max show making its long overdue return, to three interesting offerings from Netflix , you're sure to find something
worth watching with our help. So, read on to see what's new. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Peacemaker season 2 (HBO Max)

Everyone's favorite DC comic book anti-hero is back. Peacemaker real name Chris Smith is back on our screens after three and a half years for his sophomore outing on Warner Bros Discovery's recently rebranded streamer. This time, the titular character stumbles on a parallel world where life is everything he wishes he could be. Oh, and he's being hunted by Rick Flag Sr, the newly-installed head of ARGUS and father of the man Peacemaker killed in 2021's The Suicide Squad .

Episode 1 is out now read my Peacemaker season 2 release schedule guide to see where you can stream it outside of the US and when new entries will air. Before you watch it, check out my Peacemaker season 2 guide for more details on its cast and plot among other things, and my Peacemaker season 2 review to see what I thought of its first five chapters. TP Watch Peacemaker season 2 on HBO Max Hostage (Netflix)

Suranne Jones as UK Prime Minister? If I woke up tomorrow and that was real life, I'd be made up. Instead, she's playing fictional leader Abigail Dalton in new Netflix series Hostage , where she's faced with putting her country first while dealing with the sudden abduction of her medic husband in French Guiana. To top it all off, her scheduled visit with French president
Toussaint (Julie Delpy) doesn't go swimmingly... especially when she starts being blackmailed, too.

I can't think of a time we've seen two female world leaders coexist like
this, let alone work together to overthrow the tests a patriarchal system consistently subjects them to. I've no doubt in my mind that Jones was going to knock this out of the park and I hope this is the start of her rise to global stardom, much like Sarah Lancashire experienced in Happy Valley . Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch Hostage on Netflix Eenie Meanie (Hulu/Disney+)

Ready or Not star Samara Weaving leads the cast of this new Hulu and Disney+ offering, which sees her play the role of a troubled getaway driver.Indeed,
we follow her as she's dragged back into a life of crime when a former employer reveals theyve got an opportunity to save her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend.

This heist movie sounds perfect if youre after an action flick this weekend, but we'll have to wait and see what critics think of it first before we can recommend it ourselves. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch
Eenie Meanie on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Road to a Million season 2 (Prime Video)

While most people were watching Squid Game: The Challenge with baited breath (and to be fair, so was I), I was watching Brian Cox do his best 'M' impression on Prime Video 's underrated reality TV show 007: Road to a
Million . That said, considering how expensive it was to make, I'm surprised
    a second season was greenlit.

Nevertheless, I'm yet to see a competition series on par with this. We've all wanted to take a stab at being James Bond . Thankfully, we get to experience that from the safety of our sofa while James from Wigan screams his head off trying to win some money. This Amazon TV Original only gets more unhinged
from there, so strap in. JV Watch Road to a Million season 2 on Prime Video Long Story Short (Netflix)

BoJack Horseman is one of the best Netflix shows and a personal favorite of mine, so you can imagine how excited I am about co-creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg's new show Long Story Short . The adult animation series centers on a middle-class Jewish family and, more specifically, three siblings as
they experience everyday events while looking back on their very religious childhood.

Given BoJack was equal parts hilarious and devastating, Ive already stocked
up on tissues for the weekend. It's already been renewed for a second
season, too, so there'll be plenty more to enjoy in th future. LB Watch Long Story Short on Netflix Invasion season 3 (Apple TV+)

Out of the five new Apple TV+ shows releasing in August , Invasion season 3
is the most underrated. But, that doesn't mean I'm not excited for its
arrival not least because we're set to learn the true intentions of the hostile aliens that have invaded Earth.

There have been theories about the extraterrestrials' constant attacks throughout the Apple TV+ sci-fi saga, but this season promises to finally
give us answers. Creator Simon Kingberg has confirmed we'll see the main characters unite in a "low-key Avengers" storyline , so I'm expecting a climatic showdown.

So far, Invasion has seen mixed responses due to its slow-burn pacing, but many agree that last season greatly improved on the first, putting the Apple TV Original's third season in good stead to be a world-saving (or -ending) spectacle. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Invasion
season 3 on Apple TV+ The Truth About Jussie Smollett? (Netflix)

Before 2019, Jussie Smollett was known for his roles in shows like Empire and movies like The Mighty Ducks , but has since made headlines after being accused of staging a hate crime hoax.

The real-life case has more twists and turns than a Spanish soap opera, but that hasn't stopped Netflix from going ahead with a 90-minute documentary about the case. The Truth About Jussie Smollett? will bring us interviews
with police, lawyers, journalists, investigators, and Jussie himself to get the story straight, making this the best way to get the (hopefully) true
story on the alleged fake story. AS Watch The Truth About Jussie Smollet? on Netflix You might also like Peacemaker season 2 episode 1 solves a big

    Description:
There are lots of great new movies and shows to watch this weekend, including Wednesday season 2 part 2.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

It's time to bid farewell to summer or winter, if you live below the
equator. But, while the seasons are changing, one thing remains consistent: there'll always be new movies and TV shows to watch at home.

Six of the eight best streaming services have gifted us plenty of exciting
new things to check out this weekend, too. Whether you've been eagerly awaiting the second half of Wednesday season 2, or want to catch something less spooky and kooky, then, you'll find something worth streaming with our experts' help. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Wednesday season 2 part 2 (Netflix)

Wednesday season 2 's second half is here and it's a perfect binge watch
    this weekend.

There's plenty to get excited about as Gwendoline Christie returns as Principal Weems and Lady Gaga finally makes her long-teased cameo appearance. It's a sophomore chapter that's devilishly good, even if I was disappointed about one character's backstory .

There's also a brilliant dance sequence featuring Gaga's new track 'The Dead Dance', too, which rivals Wednesday's own dance scene in the first season. Even though we're saying a sad goodbye, it's not for long, as Wednesday
season 3 is on the way. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Wednesday season 2 part 2 on Netflix Lilo & Stitch (Disney+)

It's about time that the first movie of 2025 to make over $1 billion at the global box office made its official streaming debut.

Lilo & Stitch , a live-action reimagining of the beloved animated film, is now available on Disney+ and, while there's a lot of love for one of September's new Disney+ movies , it isn't without its faults. Indeed, just look at how much its tweaked ending enraged fans of the original when the remake hit theaters in late May.

Nevertheless, if you're looking to keep the kids quiet for a couple of hours on a rainy day, this funny and heart-warming tale of a boisterous alien who's taken in by an orphaned pair of sisters is sure to do the trick. TP Watch Lilo & Stitch on Disney+ Task (HBO Max)

I never wanted a second season of Mare of Easttown , so the HBO Max show's creators moving onto fresh concept Task instead is music to my ears.

Mark Ruffalo takes the lead as FBI agent Tom, who heads up a Task Force putting a stop to a string of violent robberies. The crimes are being carried out by an unsuspecting family man, which sounds just like the popular true crime reveal that we most like to binge.

It's incredibly gritty and, if you don't mind a spot of overwhelming
suffering wherever you look, you're going to be in for a treat. The cast is top tier, so if anyone can sell life-destroying heartache and terrible tragedy, it's them. I know I'm not selling this binge as a particularly happy watch, but you're going to have to trust me when I say the payoff is worth
it. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch Task on HBO Max Highest 2 Lowest (Apple TV+)

You might be surprised that this new Apple Original from mad Spike Lee, the game-changing director behind Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X, isn't getting much promotion, and you'd be right to be. It's up to us to do, ahem, the
right thing by throwing our support behind Lee when Apple TV+ has sorely let him down.

And why wouldn't you? Starring Denzel Washington, Highest 2 Lowest tells the story of music mogul David King, who's targeted by a ransom plot. He's got a life-or-death fight on his hands, all the while playing opposite the likes of A$AP Rocky and Ice Spice. Frankly, it's the best fever dream anyone in 2025 could ask for and, if there's an industry that's due a timely taking down a peg or two, it's music. Mic drop, as the kids say. JV Watch Highest 2 Lowest on Apple TV+ The Paper (Peacock)

A spin-off of the beloved NBC sitcom The Office , this show was recently renewed for season 2 , so it seems Peacock executives have high hopes for it.

Instead of going back to Dunder Mifflin, The Paper follows the employees of a fictional newspaper called the Toledo Truth Teller. The same documentary crew who followed Michael Scott and his team of misfits is back, creating a canon link between the two shows.

It's debuted with an 85% Rotten Tomatoes critical rating, so perhaps it could be The Office follow-up that fans have been waiting for. All 10 episodes are out now but, if you hate it, you can always re-watch The Office for the umpteenth time instead. LB Watch The Paper on Peacock The Runarounds (Prime Video)

Outer Banks season 5 isn't out until 2026, but I think fans of the teen series might want to head over to Prime Video in the meantime to watch The Runarounds.

That's mainly because this show is not only inspired by the band that
featured in the third season of Netflix's treasure-hunting series, but also comes from Outer Banks ' co-creator Jonas Pate.

Anyway, this eight-episode Amazon TV Original follows a group of high-school graduates who form a rock band during what the synopsis says is an "unforgettable" summer Really, then, it should've been released before the 2025 Fall season, but whatever! Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch The Runarounds on Prime Video Friendship (HBO Max)

If A24 was an acronym, should the 'A' stand for awkward? Judging by its
latest movie Friendship, which has made its HBO Max debut, it should.

Think of this one as a twisted version of the 2009 comedy I Love You Man, which saw Paul Rudd playing a friendless real-estate agent looking to recruit groomsmen before a wedding. This time, though, the story takes a much more offbeat approach to the idea of male bonding.

Tim Robinson's signature cringe humor, which some fans will recognize from Netflix's I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson , takes centre stage here. Paired with Rudd, Robinson turns Friendship into a hilariously embarrassing watch about two of the most unlikely mates. AS Watch Friendship on HBO Max You might also like Peacemaker season 2 episode 3 brings back a major character from The Suicide Squad here's why it matters Marvel Zombies is the first animated MCU TV show I'm genuinely excited for, and its brutal first trailer shows why James Gunn has revealed the official title for his Superman sequel film and it'll be released before The Batman Part II

From Only Murders in the Building's return to this year's Emmy Awards, here's what's worth watching this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Congratulations, you've made it to the end of another working week. Your reward? The chance to sit back, relax, and enjoy all of the new movies and shows on offer on the world's best streaming services .

A plethora of films and TV series aren't the only things you can catch this weekend. Indeed, boxing fans can check out the latest fight to be
livestreamed on Netflix , while this year's Primetime Emmys ceremony is sure to cause a shock or two on Paramount+ . Enjoy! Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Only Murders in the Building season 5 (Hulu/Disney+)

They're back and, in my opinion, Only Murders in the Building season 5 is better than ever. It picks up with last season's shock death of beloved doorman Lester, and the residents of The Arconia are once again suspects.

But, it's not just them under suspicion this time! Rene Zellweger leads a bunch of new guest stars this season, and let's just say she's not hanging around to make friends. The formula might be exactly the same as always, but the jokes and camaraderie keep on giving.

The first three episodes are out now on Disney+ and Hulu . New chapters will drop weekly, so don't think you'll be able to work out what's going on just yet. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer Watch Only Murders in the Building season 5 on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) The Wrong Paris (Netflix)

The Netflix movie-making machine seemingly hit the jackpot with The Wrong Paris . It has everything a paint-by-numbers rom-com needs: a will-they-wont-they plot, a Texas setting (thank Taylor Sheridan for that), and a reality TV show thats basically The Bachelor .

In one of September's new Netflix movies , Miranda Cosgrove ( iCarly ) enters a fictional dating show called The Honey Pot , which she believes is set in Paris, France, where she wants to go to art school. But, when she arrives in Paris, Texas instead, she immediately wants to get eliminated. Theres only
one problem: the hunky cowboy bachelor, played by Pierson Fod ( Based on a True Story )

Based on similar genre fare on Netflix, such as My Oxford Year , I dont doubt that The Wrong Paris will scratch your cozy film itch. Whether it's any good, though, is up for debate. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch The Wrong Paris on Netflix The Girlfriend (Prime Video)

The Girlfriend has shocked me and not just because it's the steamiest show I've seen all year. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's one of the best Prime Video shows of 2025.

Taking the cat-and-mouse dynamic we've seen in shows like Killing Eve to a
new level, a mother and girlfriend are pitted against each other. Here's the clever part, though: each episode of the Amazon TV Original is shot from different perspectives, meaning we don't know if Laura (Robin Wright) or Cherry (Olivia Cooke) are actually reliable narrators. Whatever's going on,
    it gets ugly real quick..

I'm still reeling from this six-episode Prime Video series and, if you ask
the cast, that's largely down to the infamous intimate scenes that weren't easy to film . Why? You'll have to find out for yourself. JV Watch The Girlfriend on Prime Video aka Charlie Sheen (Netflix)

A two-part documentary, aka Charlie Sheen focuses on the controversial actors early life and career, as well as the drug abuse scandals and public fallouts which other big names like Two and a Half Men s Chuck Lorre.

The documentary interviews Sheen after seven years of sobriety as he looks back on some of these moments. Its official synopsis teases that Sheen examines all of this with humor, heart, and jaw-dropping candor, so it could be an engrossing way to kick off your weekend. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch aka Charlie Sheen on Netflix Warfare (HBO Max)

As one of the most realistic war movies depicting modern military combat, Warfare is by no means a light watch but that shouldnt stop you from streaming it. After all, its one of our top five movies to watch on HBO Max this September .

The A24 movies visceral realism comes courtesy of director Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza, a former Navy SEAL who served in the Iraq War. This partnership, combined with the films real-time format, throws you straight into the chaos of a platoons dangerous surveillance mission in Ramadi, Iraq, as it quickly spirals out of control.

Based on a real-life mission, this is an unflinching depiction of modern warfare and, thanks to HBO Max , you can get a sense of what its truly like to have boots on the ground without leaving the living room. AS Watch
Warfare on HBO Max Canelo vs Crawford (Netflix)

Netflix's push into the live sports space continues apace with its latest boxing bout in Canelo Vs Crawford .

The live event, which takes place on Sunday, September 13, begins with its undercard at 10:30am PT / 3:30pm ET. The main event is expected to kick off around 8pm PT / 11pm ET ( NB: if you live outside of the US, use the PT or ET times to work out when you can watch it in your nation).

There's a lot riding on this ring-based duel, too. Terence Crawford, who's stepped up two weights for this likely bruising contest, is aiming to become the first male fighter to win an undisputed title in three weight classes in the four-belt era. Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, who's lost just two of his 67
fights to date and currently holds the WBC super-middleweight title, stands
in Crawford's way. Watch Canelo vs Crawford live on Netflix Primetime Emmy Awards 2025 (Paramount+)

This weekend celebrates the biggest and best in television, and there are
some huge names hoping to win big at the 77th Primetime Emmys. Apple TV+ s
hit series Severance leads the nominations with 27, but there are plenty of other hit programs looking to secure a gong or five.

Netflixs devastating Adolescence is up for 13 nominations, with star Owen Cooper on the brink of making awards history. If he wins, hell be the
youngest male winner of an acting Emmy. Elsewhere, HBOs gritty DC series The Penguin is up for 24 and The White Lotus for 23, while another Apple TV Original in The Studio could land multiple prizes.

For me, this is arguably one of the best years for television ever and Im excited to see how it all plays out on September 15. If you plan on streaming it on Paramount+, though, make sure you're subscribed to its Premium tier, otherwise you won't be able to watch it live. Description:
From Superman to Gen V's sophomore season, here's what you need to watch this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

It's been another big week for the TV medium. Indeed, not only did the 2025 Emmys provide plenty of talking points, but a bunch of new and returning
shows have recently landed on the world's best streaming services , too.

That doesn't mean there aren't any new movies to watch at home this weekend, though. Leading the charge in 2025's Superman movie, which has soared onto
HBO Max two months after its theatrical debut, but there are a couple of
other films that you should check out as well. So, read on to see what we've highlighted as your must-watch options over the next few days. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Superman (HBO Max)

James Gunn's Superman movie is one of my favorite films of the year, so I'm absolutely delighted I'm now able to watch at home via HBO Max as many
    times as I want.

The DC Universe ( DCU ) flick is an unmissable slice of comic book action, too. Armed with Gunn's classic storytelling formula and visual flair, the inaugural DCU Chapter One movie is a must watch for superhero devotees and general audiences alike. If other DCU projects are as good as this one, DC Studios will give Marvel a run for their money on the big- and small-screen. TP Watch Superman on HBO Max Gen V season 2 (Prime Video)

School is officially back in session and your attendance is compulsory. Indeed, with Gen V season 2 debuting on Prime Video earlier this week, it's time to reunite with The Boys universe's superpowered teens as they attempt
to solve another big mystery within the confines of Godolkin University.

Marie and company have plenty of inter- and intrapersonal issues to deal with in Gen V 's sophomore season, too, so you can expect lots of teen melodrama, plus reams of college humor fare and gory Supe-based action. Read my Gen V season 2 review to see the Amazon TV Original's latest entry is as good as
its first. After that, check out my dedicated guide on Gen V season 2 for
more on its cast, story, and if it'll be back for its junior and/or senior year. TP Watch Gen V season 2 on Prime Video Black Rabbit (Netflix)

Black Rabbit follows two brothers (played by Jason Bateman and Jude Law) who end up dragged into danger by gangsters after one of them gets into some mess with loan sharks.

The eight-part series is streaming on Netflix this weekend and, at the time
of writing and, has been met with mostly positive reviews its 65% Rotten Tomatoes score proving as much.

Alongside Bateman and Law is a stellar cast including Gangs of London 's Sope Dirisu, The Last Man on Earth 's Cleopatra Coleman and CODA 's Troy Kotsur. Why not make this your weekend binge watch? Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Black Rabbit on Netflix Elio (Disney+)

Elio is sure to be added to our best Disney+ movies r ound up now it's made its way onto streaming. Pixar's latest big-screen offering follows an
underdog with an active imagination, who finds himself beamed up to an interplanetary organization where's he's mistakenly assumed to be the Earth's ambassador.

Like many Pixar movies, it tackles difficult themes like childhood and social isolation, and does it in a very moving way, making it another lovely
addition to Disney+ 's growing library.

Yonas Ascunsion Kibreab leads the voice cast of this movie, who you may recognize from Obi-Wan Kenobi . Other names include Zoe Saldaa, Shirley Henderson, and Jameela Jamil. LB Watch Elio on Disney+ The Morning Show season 4 (Apple TV+)

Newsrooms feel scarier than ever right now, so why not dive into everyones favorite fictional take on todays headlines? The Morning Show season 4 is finally here and it's packed with even more soap-opera melodrama than before.

The Apple TV Original's showrunner Charlotte Stoudt promises the new installment will tackle the world of DeepFakes and AI, and the misinformation in the fog of war that were seeing now in the Middle East. So, nothing too light, then? As for leading ladies Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston,
the big questions lingering from season 3 remain: did Bradley go to jail and can Alex run a new network? You'll find out if you tune into Apple TV+ . Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch The Morning Show season 4 on Apple TV+ Swiped (Hulu/Disney+)

Dating apps are a huge part of modern society, and this Hulu movie takes us back to when Bumble was first dreamed up. Lily James stars as Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder and CEO of Bumble, who became the world's youngest
    self-made female billionaire.

Looking for an alternative to the often male-centric dating apps, Wolfe creates a revolutionary new app where women make the first move, and it's
gone on to help many people find love including myself, funnily enough.

Despite its 38% Rotten Tomatoes score , I'm going to watch this one with my partner for nostalgia if nothing else. Fans of empowering business stories will no doubt get a kick out of it, too. LB Watch Swiped on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Tulsa King season 3 (Paramount+)

The Tulsa King is back! Sylvester Stallone returns to Paramount+ as the menacing mobster Dwight Manfredi this Sunday (September 21), with a new installment that's set to be bigger than ever.

In the hit show's third season , well see the exiled mob boss at his post in Oklahoma, where his new criminal empire is expanding but so too are his enemies. Will the powerful Dunmires stand in the way of his liquor business? And can he protect his new crew?

Even though Stallone will always be John Rambo and Rocky Balboa in my eyes, many agree his role as Dwight is one of his best yet. The good news? This
wont be his final outing either, as Paramount+ has already renewed Tulsa King for season 4 . AS Watch Tulsa King season 3 on Paramount+ You might also

7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max and more this weekend (October 3)

    Date:
    Fri, 03 Oct 2025 14:00:00 +0000

    Description:
From Mark Wahlberg's new Prime Video movie to plenty of TV shows, you're spoiled for choice by the world's leading streamers this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

After last week's TV show-heavy recommendations list, it's time to turn the spotlight on a whole host of new movies that have landed on the world's best streaming services .

Indeed, in a role reversal of our previous 'what to watch this weekend' article, we've picked out five seemingly great films that are worth checking out before Monday rolls around. And, don't worry, TV fans we've catered for you, too, with a couple of new TV series that horror and sports-comedy fans will enjoy. So, what are you waiting for? Dive in! Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Monster: The Ed Gein Story (Netflix)

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are back with a third installment in their chilling Netflix anthology series. They've previously covered Jeffrey Dahmer and Lyle and Erik Menendez, and now the spotlight is on Ed Gein.

For those unaware, Gein was a convicted serial killer who served as inspiration for titles like The Silence of the Lambs , aka one of the best horror movies , and this show dramatizes some of the horrific crimes he committed.

Sons of Anarchy 's Charlie Hunnam plays Gein, while Laurie Metcalf portrays Gein's mother. Other big names like Tom Hollander and Lesley Manville round out the cast, and this seems like the perfect chilling tale for spooky
season. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix Play Dirty (Prime Video)

While Mark Wahlberg headlining a new action-comedy might not be the biggest reason to stream Play Dirty Shane Blacks involvement could change your mind. The director is behind some of the best high-octane comedies around, such as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys , so his name alone should promise a
    fun Friday night watch.

Unfortunately, not even Blacks signature mix of crime and Christmas looks to be enough to save the Prime Video flick, with early reviews proving divisive. Thats a real shame because its story about robbers stealing from robbers
draws from Donald E. Westlakes beloved Parker crime novels, which have a proven track record with adaptations like the acclaimed 1973 caper The Outfit .

Still, Id say Play Dirty is one of October's new Prime Video movies that's worth streaming, if only to decide for yourself whether Wahlberg and Black pull it off. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Play Dirty
on Prime Video Chad Powers (Hulu/Disney+)

You think of Glen Powell and you likely think of a chiseled action hero who's making some incredibly shrewd decisions in the industry (come on, the man's everywhere). Thanks to Chad Powers , you now get to think about a footballing has-been who disguises himself in order to play at a high school level.

Totally normal decisions being made here but, retroactively, it's a good look for Powell. He's one of the sports-comedy's executive producer and its show's lead star, and that only further sets him up as an A-lister following in Tom Cruise's footsteps.

What's more, the Hulu and Disney+ show is the hit of dumb fun we need, and it's so well-rounded that a second season already looks to be a shoo-in. Powell's performance is pitch perfect, too. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter Watch Chad Powers on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Steve (Netflix)

Based on Max Porter's 2023 novella 'Shy', one of October's new Netflix movies puts Cillian Murphy front and center of a potentially tear-jerking drama that'll strike a chord with some viewers.

Steve sees Murphy portray the titular character, who's the headteacher and sole remaining tutor of a run-down school for boys with societal and behavioural issues. Jay Lycurgo ( Titans ), who plays Shy, is one of the students that Steve attempts to mentor as the stricken educational
institution battles to stay open amid an increasing dire financial situation.

Steve won't be for everyone but, thanks to Murphy's towering performance and its topical subject matter, it's sure to be one of many people's favorite Netflix movies of 2025. TP Watch Steve on Netflix Bring Her Back (HBO Max)

Leading my recommendations for 8 new horror movies to stream in October 2025 is Bring Her Back , the second horror movie by the Philippou brothers that makes its streaming debut on HBO Max this weekend.

Bring Her Back follows two step-siblings who find themselves orphaned and placed in the middle of an occult ritual by their new foster mother, played
by Sally Hawkins. Based on its healthy 89% Rotten Tomatoes critical score, it's well worth checking out. LB Watch Bring Her Back on HBO Max The Lost
    Bus (Apple TV+)

This weeks second big action filmmaker with a new high-stakes release is Paul Greengrass, best known for The Bourne franchise. Like his previous true-story dramas United 93 and Captain Phillips , this movie is a real-life event
that's been turned into a gripping screenplay for Apple TV+ .

The Lost Bus , which is just one of nine new Apple TV+ movies and shows in October, sees Matthew McConaughey star as the heroic Kevin McKay, a bus
driver who along with two teachers saved 22 children during Californias devastating 2018 Camp Fire.

With its mix of real-life stakes and blockbuster intensity, the disaster thriller plays like a fiery spin on the 90s action classic Speed, but with an authenticity that promises an even more nerve-racking ride. AS Watch The
Lost Bus on Apple TV+ Honey, Don't! (Peacock)

I'm going to need to you to ignore all the reviews and stream Honey ,Don't!
on Peacock at your earliest convenience. Reason number one: Margaret Qualley. Reason number two: Aubrey Plaza. Reason number three: them playing each others' romantic interests. (Reason number four is Marvel alumnus Chris
Evans, who plays another slimy character in this Ethan Coen vehicle!).

It's a twist on the old-school style of bachelor lad we've come to know and dubiously question onscreen, and it's an intense all-female portrayal. At
only 90 minutes, we've got plenty of subplots packed in, and visually
striking ones at that. Coen brothers fans should lap this one up. Description:
Wondering what to watch this weekend? There's a packed lineup of new TV
shows, including a returning favorite, alongside two new movies you won't
    want to miss.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

The countdown to Halloween is officially on, which means the best streaming services are cracking open their vaults and unleashing some seriously spine-tingling scares this weekend.

HBO Max takes center stage with the premiere of the highly anticipated IT: Welcome to Derry series, along with the streaming debut of one of this years best new movies Weapons . Horror fans can also sink their teeth into the remake of the 90s classic The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and a brand-new Harlan Coben TV show to keep the chills coming.

Not in a spooky mood? Dont worry, theres plenty more to watch, including Kathryn Bigelows A House of Dynamite , a new season of Mayor of Kingstown , and a fresh Ben Stiller docuseries. So, what are you waiting for? Press play on one of our picks already! Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor
IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO Max)

I close my eyes and still picture Pennywise down a drain or doing that ridiculous dance he does at the end of the first IT movie. Now, he's about to haunt my dreams through the small screen, too.

Ever since the first trailer for prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry came
out, I've been sat. It looks suitable scary, has incredible attention to visual detail and is bringing back Bill Skarsgrd as the famed clown for good measure.

It's already ticking a lot of boxes before we've even seen an episode, and I won't be surprised if Welcome to Derry gets an early season 2 renewal.
There's Easter eggs aplenty for fans of the movies, and for everyone else... well... just be hopeful that you can sleep at night. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter Watch IT: Welcome to Derry on HBO Max A House of Dynamite (Netflix)

Ive been waiting for Kathryn Bigelows explosive return to the silver screen for more than eight years, and after hearing about the thunderous applause from the premiere of her new political thriller A House of Dynamite at Venice Film Festival, Ive never been more hyped for a Netflix film.

But fair warning, this isn't going to be a light watch. The doomsday plot, centered on government and military officials racing to stop a nuclear
missile about to strike the United States, is a frenzied play-by-play of dread. Told from multiple perspectives, its the kind of film that keeps you
on edge from start to finish.

Out of all the new Netflix movies arriving this month, this one sits firmly
at the top of my watchlist, not least because of its stacked cast, which includes Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris and Gabriel Basso. It might not be a horror film, but honestly? It sounds a lot more terrifying.
AS Watch A House of Dynamite on Netflix Harlan Coben's Lazarus (Prime Video)

If you're a Jasmine Valentine TechRadar content fan, you'll know I've been covering Harlan Coben's Lazarus extensively (please read the interviews as a little gift to me). The easiest way to describe it is The Silence of the
Lambs meets The Sixth Sense , but neither that hook nor the show's synopsis
    do it justice.

Unlike Coben's other projects, this is an original script, and he's really
let his imagination run wild. Laz (Sam Claflin) is a psychologist who returns to his hometown after the death of his father, Dr. L (Bill Nighy). Surprise, Dr. L was also a psychologist one with many secrets that come to light through literal ghosts (here's The Sixth Sense bit).

You're never too sure where in time you are, but it's a wild ride
nonetheless. I guarantee that you won't see a single twist or turn coming,
nor be able to work out the final reveal before it happens. Episode 6 is one for the books, so stick with it. JV Watch Harlan Coben's Lazarus on Prime Video Weapons (HBO Max)

If you missed our horror aficionado's five-star Weapons review (go read it now), let me catch you up: Zach Creggor's horror hit is a character-driven cocktail of supernatural spooks, dark comedy and mystery, and is easily one
of the best horror movies of 2025.

It's arguably better than the director's last film Barbarian, and that's coming from Creggor himself, who said that "this is more, and in a good way"
, so expect even more tension and a more intricate plot.

What begins as an investigation into the disappearance of 17 children from
the same classroom, all of whom vanished at the same time in the dead of the night, soon spirals into chaos for a small town. To preserve the twist, I recommend watching this completely blind on HBO Max . AS Watch Weapons on
HBO Max The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (Hulu/Disney+)

I originally got this confused with the 1999 political drama Cradle Will Rock , but now that I'm properly informed, I'm even more excited. Hulu has remade the 1992 horror movie for a 21st century audience, and it's stood the test of time well enough to still send shivers down your spine.

What starts as domestic bliss quickly turns into fatal disaster as nanny
Polly (Maika Monroe) is hired by middle class mom Caitlyn (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Only, shock horror, Polly isn't actually who she says she is at all.

The line is permanently blurred between villain and victim, and in my
opinion, that's the most horrifying storyline a 2025 film could choose. There's also a smattering of LGBTQIA+ representation here, and it's just as important to support fictional gay wrongs as it is gay rights. JV Watch The Hand That Rocks the Cradle on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) Mayor
    of Kingstown season 4 (Paramount+)

Fire up that Paramount+ subscription, because Taylor Sheridan is back with a new season of one of his hit crime shows and no, Im not talking about any of those Yellowstone cowboy series , but the prison show set in Kingstown, Michigan.

In Mayor of Kingstown season 4 , the McClusky familys stronghold is once
again under threat. A new adversary, played by Sopranos legend Edie Falco, aims to fill the power vacuum left by the Russian mafia, forcing Jeremy Renners Mike to step in and try to restore order.

Sheridan has once again written and created all 10 episodes of the season alongside Yellowstone star Hugh Dillon, so expect plenty more shootouts,
dodgy deals and corruption. The first two episodes premiere this Sunday, October 3, with new episodes dropping weekly. AS Watch Mayor of Kingstown season 4 on Paramount+ Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost (Apple TV)

I know what you need: an Apple TV documentary about Ben Stiller's parents. It probably wasn't the answer on the tip of your tongue (nor was it on mine),
but Stiller & Meara is a surprisingly enriching watch.

If you hadn't already Googled it, these two were essentially a comedic duo of their own, having been married for 60 years until Jerry's death in 2015. It's an incredibly sweet and affectionate ode to his parents, but highlights the biting cost of balancing ongoing commitment to entertainment.

It's amazing to say, but we really do need reminding that the faces we see on screen are indeed just like us, with their own families, marriages and
issues. Stiller has created just the right sense of intimacy to bring that to the fore without losing boundaries between viewer and artist. JV Watch Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost on Apple TV

    Description:
Jurassic World: Rebirth, The Witcher season 4, and plenty of other new movies and shows are out in time for the weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Our final streaming recommendations article for October 2025 is a doozy.
Sure, we didn't have to wade through as many options as expected this week. But, given the strength of what's on offer, some new movies and shows didn't make the cut. Sorry, Hazbin Hotel season 2, Robin Hood , and I Love LA ...

Hopefully, though, you'll agree that this week's seven suggestions are worthy of inclusion. So, whether you're after some dinosaur-based action, high fantasy, sci-fi or melodrama, we're sure one or more of the below will
scratch your streaming itch. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Jurassic World: Rebirth (Peacock)

The latest entry in the blockbuster dinosaur franchise is now streaming on Peacock .

Critics were split on Jurassic World Rebirth, so it's certainly proven divisive. In my equally as mixed Jurassic World Rebirth review , I called it "much better than Jurassic World: Dominion ", but acknowledged it does struggle to breathe life back into the franchise.

Anyway, Rebirth follows a new cast as they travel to a former island research facility in search of important samples. Criticisms notwithstanding,
sometimes you can't go wrong with a loud, action-packed movie featuring some big stars and even bigger dinosaurs. It's what lazy weekends were made for, right? Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Jurassic World: Rebirth on Peacock The Witcher season 4 (Netflix)

Doesn't Henry Cavill look remarkably like Liam Hemsworth these days? Now Geralt of Rivia has a new face, The Witcher season 4 can finally begin to
wrap up the fantasy story for good.

Before you go any further, I highly recommend reading our Witcher season 3 ending explained piece to remind yourself what happened last time around. The lore is as complex and detailed as it ever has been, and, with Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allen) still separated, it's only getting more confusing.

However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The Battle of Montecalvo has
been fleshed out into a death-defying duel for the ages, while new villain
Leo Bonhart (Sharlto Copley) is more cruel and callous than anyone who has come before him.

For more on the above and Laurence Fishburne's Regis, aka the real hero of
the season, read my review of The Witcher season 4 . Then, check out our
guide on The Witcher season 4 to get the full lowdown before you stream it. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter Watch The Witcher season 4 on Netflix Hedda (Prime Video)

If you ever read a Henrik Ibsen play and wished it felt more like Emerald Fennell's Saltburn , you're in luck. Director Nia DaCosta has reimagined
Hedda Gabler for the modern age, including Bridgerton -style casting, a lesbian love triangle, and a domestic world where women rule all.

It's all incredibly cool and calculated, meaning Hedda might be the most fun I've had with a Prime Video movie all year (read my Hedda review for more). Tessa Thompson might take our lead character to new heights, but it's Nina Hoss' gender-swapped Eileen Lovborg who steals the show. If you loved her in Tr , you're going to love this.

This makes five feature films for DaCosta in as many years, and that alone is incredibly impressive. I can't shake the feeling that we're collective sleeping on her talent and vision, and if her next projects are anything like this Amazon Original, I'll be the first in line. JV Watch Hedda on Prime Video Star Wars: Vision Volume 3 (Disney+)

The final Star Wars offering of 2025, the third season of this Disney+ anthology series delivers more suspense-filled, funny, and heart-wrenching stories via various gorgeous animation styles.

Like its forebears, Star Wars Visions volume 3 comprises nine episodes they're all available to watch now, FYI that span the breadth of Lucasfilm's iconic galaxy far, far away. Three of this season's entries are sequels to volume 1 chapters, too, so one of the best Disney+ shows ' latest installment won't be entirely made up of standalone tales. Hopefully, volume 3's sequel episodes won't feel too *ahem* Forced from a story standpoint. TP Watch Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 on Disney+ Ballad of a Small Player (Netflix)

Is there anything Colin Farrell can't do? Considering how charming he is as addiction-stricken gambler Lord Doyle in Ballad of a Small Player , aka one
of October's final new Netflix movies , I'm voting no.

It's a movie that goes big on visuals, cinematography, and sound design, and I'd expect nothing less from director Edward Berger. If you're expecting something like his previous works in Conclave or All Quiet on the Western Front , though, think again. It's much more personal and meditative, and sees Doyle spiral as his bad decisions catch up with him. It might kill him to try and get himself out of it, which forms the crux of the perspective-shifting drama.

It's also a chance for Tilda Swinton to show off yet another accent in her arsenal as she chases around Macau after Doyle to hold him accountable for
his actions. Stick it on Netflix as soon as you've read my Ballad of a Small Player review . JV Watch Ballad of a Small Player on Netflix Down Cemetery Road (Apple TV)

Slow Horses season 5 may have finished this week, but Apple TV isn't letting fans of British spy shows starve, because it's released the first two
episodes of a new eight-part series adapted from another Mick Herron novel.

Storming out the gate with the same wiry humor and crime drama mysteries
found in the author's Slough House books, Down Cemetery Road sees Dame Emma Thompson as a foul-mouthed private eye, who's normally tedious case load
takes a turn for the thrilling when a house explodes in a quiet Oxford
    suburb.

Knowing Herron, I don't doubt there'll be plenty of twists and turns to
unpack in the coming weeks, as espionage, kidnappings, coverups and conspiracies converge in what could be another great Apple TV Original. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Down Cemetery Road on
Apple TV Sorry, Baby (HBO Max)

A24 has a real gift for making me cry and Sorry, Baby is no exception. Even though I've come to expect deep themes and big emotions from the studio, it's a movie still stunned me in the best possible way.

This dark comedy movie, which is out now on HBO Max , follows a reclusive college professor who struggles with depression after a traumatic incident. It's a difficult watch at times, but also very cathartic, and lead actor Eva Victor delivers a standout performance in one of the best-rated movies of 2025. If you're in the mood to feel a lot this weekend, then you should check it out. LB Watch Sorry, Baby on HBO Max

    Description:
The weekend has arrived, and these are the new movies and shows you'll want
to watch before Monday rolls around.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

We had a really hard time deciding what to include in this week's streaming recommendations article. Indeed, so many new movies , and new and returning
TV shows, have arrived on the world's best streaming services in recent days that we could've written four articles like this to cover all of them.

Alas for the 20 or so films and series that missed out, we can only compile one. We think that the seven we've chosen are the cream of the crop, though, so we're confident you'll find one of the below options appealing. Happy streaming! Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter Freakier Friday
    (Disney+)

Dust off your Walkman and fire up that Motorola Razr V3, millennials, because this years big Y2K nostalgia flick is finally streaming on Disney+ .
Following a strong box office run, Freakier Friday has been deemed a hit by fans and critics alike, even outshining the original.

So, what did Disney get right? Reuniting Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan
as the iconic mother-daughter duo in this sequel to the 2003 body swap comedy is the biggest reason why it's one of the standout new Disney+ movies .
Beyond that, the film delivers a big dose of cheesy humor and plenty of callbacks for long-time fans.

Its not perfect but, if youre looking for a light-hearted watch, Freakier Friday hits the mark. Make sure to check out our Freakier Friday review once youve seen it! Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch Freakier Friday on Disney+ In Your Dreams (Netflix)

Netflix has a pretty strong track record with animated family-friendly
films. The Sea Beast , Klaus , Ultraman: Rising , and Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio are just four great new Netflix movies that have been met with critical and commercial acclaim in the last two years. Oh, and then there was that little-known flick about a kpop group that hunts demons. What was it called again...

I kid, I kid. It's practically impossible that In Your Dreams , Netflix's latest animated feature, will come close to matching the cultural phenomenon known as Kpop Demon Hunters . Nonetheless, the tale of siblings who travel to the world of dreams to track down The Sandman, with the aim of him granting their wish to save their parents' marriage, looks like a hoot.

Expect the usual familial themes to be explored through the lens of another gorgeous-looking, action-packed, and likely laugh out loud movie. TP Watch
In Your Dreams on Netflix Malice (Prime Video)

The X-Files ' David Duchovny teams up with Fresh Meat 's Jack Whitehall in this new Prime Video thriller series. It's not a combo I ever anticipated,
but I do think it's a genius one.

Malice follows Duchovny's wealthy character Jamie who hires a male nanny, Whitehall's Adam, but all is not as it seems because it soon becomes apparent that Adam's intentions might not be pure.

Set in picturesque locations such as Greece and London, Jamie follows Adam
and his family around, plotting something . If you're in the mood for a bingeable, twisty Amazon TV Original, this one has got you covered this weekend. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch Malice on Prime Video Landman season 2 (Paramount+)

Grab your cowboy hats, lads, because Billy Bob Thornton is back on the scene. Landman joined the Taylor Sheridan-verse on Paramount+ in 2024, with Tommy Norris (Thornton) a key player in the West Texas oil trade. He's working to secure a future for his company during a commercial boom, but basically everybody he comes into contact with is his natural enemy.

Season 2 increases the pressure on Norris, with girlfriend Cami Miller (Demi Moore) and his family pushing him to breaking point. Mooreheads will be pleased to know that she's got a much bigger role this time around, returning to us after her Oscar nominated for The Substance .

If there's one thing Sheridan doesn't scrimp on, it's messy drama. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that Landman is the messiest of the bunch and, if Cami's only just getting riled up, I'd pre-order your popcorn now. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter Watch Landman season 2 on Paramount+ Eddington (HBO Max)

Ari Aster is back with a new Joaquin Phoenix collaboration, following on from his utterly bonkers yet brilliant Beau Is Afraid . This time, Phoenix leads a neo-western thriller, set in New Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eddington follows the conflict between Phoenix's Sheriff Joe Cross and Pedro Pascal's Mayor Ted Garcia, with their election feud causing political and social turmoil. With a 68% Rotten Tomatoes score , Eddington isn't Aster's highest rated movie (that one is still Hereditary ) but, if you're a fan of his work in general you should enjoy this one. LB Watch Eddington on HBO Max Palm Royale season 2 (Apple TV)

Ready to head back to the 1960s high society of Palm Beach, Florida? Great, because Apple TV s mystery series Palm Royale has returned with more scandalous intrigue and over-the-top drama than many long-running soap
    operas.

Described by its stars as Hitchcock meets Bewitched , it stars Kristen Wiig as socialite Maxine Delacourt, who's determined to secure a spot at Americas most exclusive club. Picking up directly after season 1s shocking cliff-hanger, season 2 finds Maxine outcast following that very public breakdown at the Beach Ball.

While the Apple TV Original hasnt been a slam dunk, it has built up a dedicated following that are bound to be delighted by this new season its more of the same, but manages to raise the stakes in fresh and exciting ways. Pay attention to the opening scene, which pays homage to 60s Hollywood icons in a way that'll have you cheering for Ricky Martins return. AS Watch Palm Royale season 2 on Apple TV The Seduction (HBO Max)

I didn't think I needed a prequel series to Dangerous Liaisons entirely in French, but HBO Max 's The Seduction quickly proved me wrong (read my The Seduction review to find out why).

In movie terms, we're seeing the rise of a younger Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil (originally played by Glenn Close, now played by Anamaria Vartolomei). Together with frenemy Rosemonde ( Diane Kruger ), the pair
embark on rising to the top of the promiscuous French elite.

There's as much sex and explicit scandal as you can imagine, but it's
actually the least interesting part of the six-episode series. Instead, it's the calm and calculated drama that really sings. Two women operating in a man's world is never an easy sell, but the male leads in mere minions in the bigger picture. It's like a drawn-out game of chess, only the pieces have no clothes on. 7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max and more this weekend (January 9)

    Date:
    Fri, 09 Jan 2026 15:00:00 +0000

    Description:
From the return of hit shows to this year's Golden Globes ceremony, here's what you won't want to miss this weekend.

    FULL STORY ======================================================================

Congratulations, you've made it through the first full week of work/school/college/university of 2026. And, if you're like us, you'll be looking to banish those post-New Year blues by watching something on the world's best streaming services .

Thankfully, there are plenty of new movies and TV shows to check out this weekend. Delay no longer, then, dear reader read on to see what you can
enjoy from the comfort of your couch before Monday rolls around. Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter The Pitt season 2 (HBO Max)

In my review of The Pitt season 2 , I make no secret that it's my most anticipated TV show of 2026. In it, we pick up 10 months after last season with the day shift returning for the Fourth of July weekend.

Lead Doctor Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch is more grounded than his emotional breakdown in season 1, planning to leave for a three-month sabbatical after the holiday shift is over. His replacement, Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), has entered the ER with an agenda, hoping to implement permanent changes to how Robby runs his department.

As you can imagine, it's glorious chaos from the moment the ER's doors open, and the stakes only grow in the award-winning HBO Max 's second season. By blending its winning formula with new dynamic elements, The Pitt ' s just as strong as it was before. Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter Watch The Pitt season 2 on HBO Max People We Meet on Vacation (Netflix)

It might not be groundbreaking filmmaking, but I was incredible impressed by People We Meet on Vacation . Adapting the smash-hit romance novel of the same name by Emily Henry, one of January's new Netflix movies is the perfect reminder that the first month of the year doesn't have to be cold and dreary.

The romantic chemistry between our two leads is astonishing, and who needs bold filmmaking when you can be cozy instead? Personally, I love that we're starting a new year with the energy that platonic love is just as important (if not more) as romantic love.

People We Meet on Vacation does eventually inject the romance into rom-com but, for most of it, we're following two people learning to love each other for exactly who they are, and that isn't confined to romance. JV Watch

    Video)

Jonathan Pine is back after a nine year break and hes in hiding under a new alias. But, Tom Hiddlestons beloved character isnt having a relaxing time, as hes dragged into a new nail-biting mission. This is one of my most
anticipated Prime Video shows of the year (it's already began airing on BBC One in the UK) and one I'm delighted to see returning after such a long absence.

This time around, Pine finds himself tussling with menacing Colombian businessman Teddy dos Santos when demons from Pine's past resurface. Season 2 welcomes back plenty of familiar faces like Olivia Colman, Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, and Michael Nardone. And, with the first three episodes of
this BBC-developed Amazon TV show out on Sunday, thats your weekend viewing sorted. Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer Watch The Night Manager season 2 on Prime Video A Thousand Blows season 2 (Hulu/Disney+)

Tempted to step back in time to watch an all-female notorious gang plan a daring theft, street brawls erupt, and royals trained in boxing in Victorian London? Steven Knights returning period drama is the perfect watch for you.

A Thousand Blows season 2 picks up directly after the events of its predecessor, with Sugar Goodson battered, Hezekiah Moscow in a heap of despair, and Mary Carr determined to get the Forty Elephants back together to reclaim the streets.

All six episodes are out now on Hulu , or Disney+ if you don't live in the
US, so you don't have to wait to see where this next chapter goes. Just be prepared: there may be less boxing this season, but it still packs a brutal punch. Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor Watch A Thousand Blows season 2 on Hulu (US) and Disney+ (internationally) His & Hers (Netflix)

Netflixs latest crime thriller His & Hers may have divided critics overall, but everyone's in full agreement over its wild ending that I'm sure will be the talk of the town this weekend.

Marvel stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal play a news reporter and a detective, both of whom try to solve a murder where each believes the other
is a prime suspect. Whether or not their suspicions are correct is another matter entirely.

The six-episode series is an ideal binge watch as all episodes are now available on Netflix and, given the chatter about its big twist already, you'll want to stream it all ASAP so nobody spoils it for you. LB Watch His
& Hers on Netflix Tron: Ares (Disney+)

One of many films that bombed at the global box office in 2025, Tron: Ares makes its Disney+ bow less than three months after its initial theatrical release.

Set 15 years after Tron: Legacy , the sci-fi franchise's latest entry stars Jared Leto as Ares, an artificial intelligence program created by Dillinger Systems and labeled as the "perfect, expendable soldier". However, when Ares crosses over into the real world, the lines between reality and digital
    realms begin to blur.

I really enjoyed Tron: Legacy but, whether it's the mixed reception Tron:
Ares has received and/or Leto's involvement, I can't say I'll be racing on my Light Cycle to watch this one. Maybe you will, though. TP Watch Tron: Ares
on Disney+ The 2026 Golden Globe Awards (Paramount+)

Get your ballgowns and tuxedos ready, because the next major awards ceremony of the season arrives this weekend The 83rd Golden Globes will take place
this Sunday and, like last year's event, will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ in the US.

That said, you'll need to be signed up to the latter's Premium tier to catch it live). Those of you with an Essential subscription will only be able to watch it on demand. With Nikki Glaser set to return as host for the second year in a row, it'll hopefully be another night filled with laughs and well-deserving victors.
