The answers to today's Strands, game #305, are STOCK CELERY ONIONS CARROTS PEPPER NOODLES SPANGRAM: CHICKEN SOUP My rating: Easy My score: Perfect

The classic ingredients (although you may want to add some water/stock) to chicken soup or any soup for that matter make up todays Strands.

Soup is the perfect January meal its really simple to make, as once you have your base ingredients loaded you are virtually there and no matter what youve put in the pot it will feel way healthier than anything you ate in December.

The problem is, no matter how hearty a soup is, it seldom feels enough and I can never resist the temptation to supplement it with a sandwich or two sandwiches. But maybe thats because Im British, were a bit obsessed with sandwiches.

The answers to today's Strands, game #312, are BIGEYE BLUEFIN SKIPJACK ALBACORE YELLOWFIN SPANGRAM: TUNA FAMILY My rating: Moderate My score: 2
    hints

It took me two hints before I cottoned on to todays Strands being all about Tuna or the chicken of the sea as one canned tuna brand calls it, which is not accurate but is a bit more catchy than obligate ram generators of the
    sea.

Because we think of tuna in cans or fillets rather than as living creatures, its easy to forget their size Atlantic YELLOWFIN tuna are enormous and can weigh as much as a horse. Theyre fast too, swimming at speeds of 42mph.

My favourite fact about the tuna is that they never stop moving, as their movement and respiration are connected and because of this they dont stop to sleep and instead employ a technique where they shut down one half of their brain so they can continue moving and staying vigilant to threats and then after a while shut down the opposite half of their brain. Ill try it when I
    do Strands tomorrow.

The answers to today's Strands, game #319, are ZOMBIE SIDECAR MARTINI STINGER COSMOPOLITAN SPANGRAM: COCKTAILS My rating: Easy My score: 1 hint

When I saw todays theme I initially feared that it was going to be about boring legal words (and whod want that), but my concerns were soon eased when the first Hint gave me ZOMBIE which is both a slow-moving human whose brain has been eaten by an inexplicable virus OR a delicious beverage made from
    rum, lime and grapefruit juice.

Why its called a Zombie is uncertain although I suspect youd find navigating stairs tricky if you had more than a couple.

Strands also included the classic cocktail COSMOPOLITAN not a word that I
use very often, but one that was strangely satisfying to connect letter by letter.

The answers to today's Strands, game #326, are MILK BUTTER CHEESE GELATO CUSTARD YOGURT SPANGRAM: DAIRY PRODUCTS My rating: Easy My score: Perfect

Being lactose intolerant and also, despite this condition, a turophile, I found todays Strands enjoyable but, much like my beloved cheese, hard to stomach.

I put my diminutive stature down to a dislike of creamy creations, as height and milk protein have been shown to be linked. Researchers have attributed an obsession with DAIRY PRODUCTS as the reason why people from the Netherlands are better at reaching things on high shelves than any other nation in the world. In a year the average Dutch person consumes over 25% more CHEESE and other milk-based products than their American or British counterparts and
this has resulted in a growth spurt over the past century, taking the Dutch from the shortest people in Europe to the tallest the average Dutchman is more than 6ft tall and the average Dutch woman about 5ft 7in.

Anyway, a lovely easy Strands with a tasty subject matter. Yesterday's NYT Strands answers (Wednesday, 22 January, game #325) BRAVE CARS SOUL ONWARD ELEMENTAL RATATOUILLE SPANGRAM: ANIMATION What is NYT Strands?

The answers to today's Strands, game #333, are FROZEN DARK DEEP LAKE SLEEP SHAKE LOVELY BELLS SPANGRAM: FROST POEM My rating: Moderate My score: 1 hint

Todays Strands is a lot easier if you are familiar with Robert Frosts classic poem about briefly stopping to wonder at the natural world.

Frost called the poem, written in 1922, "my best bid for remembrance", so how wonderful that its been given a brief blast of spotlight in this puzzle. If you have the time theres a wonderful, crackly, archive interview with the
poet on YouTube, where he reads it in his fabulously deep voice. Its fantastic.

Anyway, I must go. Ive got promises to keep well, a promise to myself to
