• Blackjack now available in MRC!

    From MeaTLoTioN@1337:1/101 to All on Thu Mar 2 09:28:04 2023
    Hey y'all,

    After making the first MRC game (slot machine/slots), I wanted to get another game made so there's a choice... and I have made it so.

    Blackjack has arrived in MRC!

    To use this feature, when you are in MRC chat, just type;

    /t johnny5 play blackjack {bid}

    {bid} is optional, if you want to bid money, you can win money, if not (or set to 0) it will be a free to play. No JBucks will change hands.

    Once you have started a game, you will be presented with your hand and you can see the dealers card. Like normal Blackjack, you then have the option of [hit]ting or [stay]ing, like this;

    /t johnny5 play blackjack hit
    or
    /t johnny5 play blackjack stay

    Each time you play your next move, you will be shown any additional cards you get, or if you win, lose, or tie.

    If you win, you get 3 times the amount you bid to start the game, if you lose, you get nothing, if you tie you get back what you bid for the game.

    If you don't have time to finish a game, or you don't remember if you started one or not, you can check if you have a game in progress by using the check option;

    /t johnny5 play blackjack check

    If you have a game in progress, you will be presented with your current hand and the dealers card, if no game is in progress you will be informed as such.

    We had a fun day yesterday playing around and finxing bugs yesterday, and now I

    think it's ready for y'all to play. Come on in to MRC and play some Blackjack.

    Feedback is welcomed.

    Hey ML!

    Blackjack has arrived in MRC!

    The Blackjack and Slot games are great additions to MRC.

    /t johnny5 play blackjack {bid}

    As I mentioned in yesterday's GT chat, the /t command doesn't work in echicken's MRC client for Sync. However it was pretty easy to add it and make it do the same thing /msg does. So now the MRC client here will honor the /t command as on other systems.

    Just curious, are the valid MRC command documented anywhere? It would be nice to make sure other things aren't being left out, since echicken's last update to MRC was 2 years ago.

    If you just want a list of them on the original client there is a help file telling you what each command does You can view it as a plain ansi. If you mean documented as in the code itself that I don't know.

    Yeah, thing is I'm using the MRC mod by echicken for SBBS, which does not list or support 100% of the commands allowable by MRC. For example, the /t command being shorthand for /msg isn't listed or supported out of the box, as I alluded

    to in my previous message, and I added it in myself for that reason. Was asking

    to see if there were any other commands possibly left out.

    If you mean documented as in the code itself that I don't know.

    Yep, that's what I meant. Guess I could poke through the code for the Mystic one to figure things out on my own.

    Yeah, echicken was pretty clear that it was a hack, I wish I had more Javascript skills to clean things up a bit. I like the native MRC interface more than the IRC-like look of ec's MRC client.

    At least it works. I've been a semi-weekly regular on the GT for quite a while now. :)

    I do agree though, the original MRC for Mystic looks much nicer. The new mrcX is nice as well. It might be (reasonably) trivial to rework the look of the ec-mrc interface and bring it up to par functionality-wise with the Mystic MRCs. I know enough JS to get into trouble, and have written some of my own mods for my Sync board here. What sorts of things would you clean up if you could?

    Yep, I've been on the Friday chats.

    It works, I get errors in my error log about invalid lines, including bits of MRC text.

    I'd duplicate the layout of the MRC client, with a solid status area below and skip the user list to the right. That would make more room for text. Use a command to list people in the room.

    Making the colors configurable would be nice, too.

    I don't know what improvements/upgrades there are to the protocol, not sure if the Sync client is up to date.

    It works, I get errors in my error log about invalid lines, including bits of MRC text.

    I've observed the same thing. I just assume the occasional odd line of invalid text comes through.

    I don't know what improvements/upgrades there are to the protocol, not sure if the Sync client is up to date.

    Since it was last updated 2 years ago, I think it's a safe bet it's out of date. :)

    The /users /chatters and /whoon commands do list who's in the room.

    Did some tinkering today. For now, I started by giving the nicklist on the right a max width of 0. I'd prefer to just remove it, but it seems certain / functions depend on whether certain names exist in the list. I'll have to look into it more.

    Now that there's more screen real-estate, I went ahead and added a timestamp to

    the left of new messages that scroll in.

    So far it looks pretty decent.

    I have a user who stops by a few times a week and idles in MRC. I'll see how things go for him with these changes in place and see if he offers any feedback.

    Hey!

    I'm actually giving it a new coat of paint and will be releasing an update soon.

    I've also gave some love to the Enigma 1/2 client the other day and plan on taking a look at Sync's implementation soon as well in order to fix things a bit and make it compatible with the upcoming changes.

    Hey!

    MRCX is a 3rd party that is developed by roovis. You may want to check with
    him on MRC for the details.

    On a sidenote, the default MRC client is getting a huge facelift after the
    last week server code upgrade. The changes are too long to list here...

    You may want to check at these 2 IMGUR libraries that showcase some of the changes in both MRC Server 1.3+ and the upcoming MRC 1.3+ client.

    Awesome! These are just a minimal changes to get things working smoothly. However I may take a look at adding some more stuff to it when I'm done with the other stuff on my list. Things like Nick list toggle, etc.

    The 1.3 release is already up server-side. The client side of things is
    mostly adding support for latest Mystic version, theming and such.

    I'll have it on my main board in 80x24 (sorry, no widescreen theme in the

    The 1.3 release is already up server-side. The client side of things is mostly adding support for latest Mystic version, theming and such.

    I'll have it on my main board in 80x24 (sorry, no widescreen theme in the abyss yet) very soon.

    I just read the beta info in TQWMatrix - I'm about to head over to the Abyss and have a play w/ "%".

    w00t w00t - super excited, dude - the widescreen can wait.

    Hehe, glad you could check it out. The look and feel is pretty similar while most of the work is being done on the engine underneath.

    Let me know if you have any feedback.

    Cheers!
