time you wrote a letter?
Hand-written since, uff... close to 30 years ago.
Digital (email, etc) 3 days ago.
As I was writing some birthday thank you letters, I had the sudden thought that not many people write letters to each other. Of course, writing about this on a BBS sounds odd, though it feels similar (maybe it is the lack of distractions). Here's a question: When was the last time you wrote a letter?

But yeah, very few people write letters nowadays.

In recent times, only for formal stuff, like giving the employer notice tha I've had enough. Also making sure they'd need to sign for it, so there's no denying ;)

I used to do it fairly often. Excluding holiday/birthday cards, the last letter I wrote may have been to a friend in the service, or to another fri in Brazil. So probably 25-30 years ago, before everyone got email and the phones with text messaging.
i think letter writing and cards shows that the person put some effort in.
I still save all my cards from everyone.
I don't get any cards anymore because those people died off and nobody else writes.
you can't shoot off an email? do you really have to have them sign, as wel is this because of the country you live in?
It was more of a personal choice, I guess nowadays you can get away with an email, but I really, really wanted the delivery confirmation. Emails can be displaced or overlooked :)

Nowadays people also don't email.... just instant messaging.....
Yeah, seems like email has largely filled in the use personal letters
had. Much like what happened to radio.
That said, email has become a bit more common in the "Indie Web" movement on the clearnet. Most sites on Neocities have an email you can send messages to, and if I really like their site, I send them an email telling
Though might light leave an email for errors (don't know yet).
I love the idea of people moving back to blogs. Own the content and syndicate elsewhere.

I think it more common these days that people come back to blogs.
Usually techies and it's more headless (e.g. Hugo) with MD as a source format for posts, then some plugin integrations to get the static
website generated and uploaded on top of that.
I work in technology, and I have a tech blog that comes up when you
look up my name, since one of the first things a prospective employer
or client will do is google you. If the first thing they pull up is a
bunch of smart things I wrote, all the better. :)
I'd love to switch to a static site generator - I'm running Wordpress
for all my sites, and it's grown into overkill for small sites now -
but it's what I know.
try it. https://gohugo.io
I believe you may really like it, especially if you feel overwhelmed by WordPress heaviness and operational footprint to keep it secure and updated today.
