Ok, so figured this out, it wasn't right in my face but it a little digging it was easy enough .. If you had Email verification working on your BBS with Gmail and it quit working, and you just left it broke like me, here is the fix ....
---------------------------gmail settings -------------------------------- Gmail / Google "Why the change":
To keep your account more secure, Gmail no longer supports third-party apps or devices which require you to share your Google username and password. Sharing your account credentials with third-parties makes it easier for hackers to gain access to your account. Instead, look for the option to "Sign in with Google," which is a safer way to sync your mail to other apps.
In the coming weeks (more like months ago), the option to Enable IMAP or Disable IMAP will no longer be available. IMAP access is always enabled in Gmail, and your current connections to other email clients arent affected. You dont need to take any action. (But muh BBS of course ..) So the fix .. Thank you Bucko for pointing this out, App password:
-----------------Steps to fix In Gmail---------------------->
1. Go to your google account at
https://myaccount.google.com/
2. Select Security.
3. Under "Signing in to Google," select 2-Step Verification and complete
the 2-Step Verification if you have not already.
4. At the bottom of the page, select App passwords.
Enter a name (like your BBS name)
5. Select Generate. Write down or copy the 16-character code that google generates
6. Select Done.
------------------On your BBS Change --------------------------------->
1. Go to ./mystic -cfg
2. Select Servers / General Settings / SMTP
3. Change the password of your login to the 16-character code google
provided.
