The clock is running out on 5.25" floppy disks and 3.5" disks aren't
that far behind.
I agree with you - thats actually my next C=64 project; I recently got around 200 original software (and user data) disks in a collection... I have to figure out how to use my SD2EIC solution to backup 5.25"s from
the 1541 drive to my SDCard... I wanna get all 200 disks backed up.
You might have to move to a Pi1541 for at least some of those disks, though. The SD2IEC that I have worked great, but I kept running into problems with some stuff. So I moved to a Pi1541 and I've had no problems with it on my C64 and Plus/4.
I prefer to run on current solutions, but you always find the coolest stuff on actual disks IMO
I still keep real drives around. I have a 1541-II set to device 9, on my Plus/4-C64 setup. But for "normal" usage, I always use floppy emulators now.
I think the only system that I have that is dependent on 5.25" diskettes is my Kaypro "1". But I don't use it very often.
... Your boss is thinking about you.
