using data from an older text theme - but... getting it ironed out. N I just have to figure out how to change to a new theme, and how I'll handle that with my setup.
You probably want to set your custom theme as the default theme for new users (Configuration --> General Settings --> Default Theme).
And perhaps stop Mystic from asking new users what theme they'd like (Configuration --> New User Settings 2 --> Ask Theme: No).
So, I've done both of those a while back; users get the DEFAULT theme at first, and I don't ask them/allow them to change, neither here...
Users will still be able to select a theme of choice from the Account Settings menu unless you restrict usage for the theme you don't want
them to use.
I also HAD taken this out of my User Accounts Menu; BUT if I get this ascii/text theme working I might add it back... OR allow them to select @
login - but I think I'd prefer some out of the way access in the menu...
For instance, if you don't want anyone to use the stock
theme (the one in the "themes/default" directory), you can do so with
default (or the theme(s) you want to disallow) --> List ACS: %
Editors --> Theme/Prompt Editor The % ACS will disallow everyone (including the SysOp).
Cool cool - I think I follow this, currently I have the new ascii/text them set to s255 so I'm the only one who can even see it yet...
Also note that you will have to change the selected theme for each and every existing user manually; Editor --> User Editor --> <username> -->
1 (Settings 1) --> Theme --> enter the theme directory name of your
custom theme. If a user has a theme selected (e.g. the stock "default" one) to which he/she doesn't have access (as per the List ACS of the theme), Mystic will complain and disconnect the user on login, if I
recall correctly.
Well, I don't think I'll have to make many changes - cause for the life of my board I've only used DEFAULT, so I belive all the users are already happily going alone with DEFAULT activated.
See, what I'm doing here is... my board is ANSI heavy, and some of my users are from countries with REALLY low data - 100/mb for the entire month... so I went and grabbed xqtr's ASCII theme, and I'm gonna modify it to my mystic- but it was created on a different version of Mystic, so the setup/directories IT used weren't really correct for a47...
I THINK I have it working a bit better- instead of ascii_text and ascii_menus, I've put THOSE in /text and /menus IN the /theme/ascii folder... and instead of ascii.txt (for a prompts file) I changed that to prompts.txt in the /themes/ascii folder... copied my /themes/default/theme.ini to /themes/ascii and modified it... So, I'm getting there. :P
I don't wanna change anything, just ALLOW a couple users to SELECT the ascii as a theme option. I'll prolly just do this in the User Account menu, and again - I don't want the to REALLY be an option - just there for those who NEED it.
Hope this helps! :)
Best regards
Zip
Yes - I've never worked with themes before; and heck I might want to one day... but for THIS one, its more function - I also noticed I can use the scripts fallback feature and send that to DEFAULT, so I might be able to add in SOME of my MPL features (like my Discord webhooks/announcers etc) into the ascii theme so it doesn't lose all functionality.
I went to find a switch theme menu command, and didn't see it quickly - so... I'm gonna go hunt a bit today. :P Thank you Zip - ALL that info helps, as its my 1st time.
