Interesting. I am on Linux. The events seem to change. I will have an event set as interval and min 45. I save and edit. When I enter back in, it’s changed back to its previous value.

I have seen that happen too, make changes and they don't stick.

I would take the BBS offline and edit the changes you need and then restart the BBS. I think that'll work better for you.

This has happened on a few rare occassions for me, too, but not specific to A49 -- it has happened in older versions as well. Haven't been able to pinpoint why, though...

Yes. I realized that needed to be done.

It seems semaphore events doesn’t work right.

    I have a semaphore event with :

    echomail.in|netmail.in

And it just sits there and never runs, even though that some phone file does exist in semaphore/

It’s crazy. It’s my import echomail script.

I reverted back to A48 because g00r00 isn't around right now and doesn't seem to be devving actively.

This is normal - g00 is awesome and continues to give us a great bbS platform 20+ years in; but I'm not beta'ing A49 until its being devved a lot more actively.

I always make a backup before updating so I'm sure I can revert back if needed. I don't know exactly what changed I have not tested A49 yet but you could probably check the changes and in that way know what you can revert and what not.

Fairly easy, IIRC - I just did an ./upgrade - or is it ./update?? And was able to go back to A48.... I don't recall any issues or hoops to jump thru.

projects. I just wish I could get my software working right. I found
work around a. If I can downgrade to a48 - I probably would.

I would imagine you can probably just backup your current BBS, install A48 in a temporary directory, copy over the executables, and run 'mplc -all'.

However, you may want to take a look at whatsnew.txt between A48 and the latest alpha to make sure data structures haven't been changed during that time. If so, you may want to try to install A48, and then just try to copy over your 'menu' and 'text' directories, along with your theme(s) directories.. Then, if you make a backup, you can try to copy over things like your user list, oneliners.dat, and any other things you might want to keep and if anything breaks or acts funny, you can revert to the previous copy.

With all that said, I don't think I've ever had issues with A49 and events. So if you'd like to try to tackle actually fixing it rather than trying to downgrade, I can try to help you out with that. Could be something as simple as how you're running Mystic and if you're passing off to a user successfully after starting, which then brings permissions into play. You can chown your entire Mystic directory all day but if you're starting MIS as root and not passing it off to said user, there's going to be issues.

    Regards,
    Nick

I have had semaphore issues lately with A48, login no new messages but in the inbound directory there is 50 files not processed. Logoff shutdown run mis poll killbusy and all the semaphores are killed, go bck in kill poll.bsy and run mutil mailin and it cleans it up for a few days.. Not sure what is causing these issues..

Yeah they always hope that if you just reboot it while on the line, they get a fast ticket closure. Then they realize you don't own there
equipment and refuse to help. I'm like, but here are the log files
showing it you on YOUR end, not mine. Now I have fiber and don't have to fight them as much and save myself around $300USD each month on top of
    it .. LOL

Yea, they can be a royal pain sometimes, I had an issue years back where I used to live. Between the hours of 7pm and 12am I would get on average 30mbs download I had 100meg service, I called they tested said everything was fine but did I have any TV's on the line, I said yes, so the answer was the splitter is bad. I run down to Radio Shack buy the best splitter they have, put it in and no change. I call back, they tell me they are showing a bad splitter still (huh? You can tell from reading ohms) so my answer was I replaced it, they ask where did I get it? I told them, ah that's why, you didn't use one of ours, that is why you need to use one of ours. I go to the only repair facility open that night 45 minutes away, ask for a splitter the girl hands it to me and I ask will this solve my problem and her answer is where did you get that info from? I said your company.. She says you need a new modem, so I said ok give me one, oh I didn't have my old one with me to turn in.. It keeps going on for weeks, until I call and threaten that I want someone out to find out why. They send a crew manager to my house he replaces the modem with a super duper 4 line modem, says this is a beta test modem it will solve all your problems. He runs a speed test 30meg down 10meg up.. I said to him It's because there is not enough bandwidth isn't it?? He looks at me and says yes that is the reason but I am not supposed to say that, I am supposed to string you along till we get more bandwidth in this area. My answer to him was well I guess I will have to get DSL, he said don't do that, here is my personal cell number give me 3 weeks and let me know if you see a difference. Well 3 weeks to the day, suddenly between those hours I am getting full speed. I called him up to tell him and he said yes, we just added more bandwidth to your area.. What a joke, and what a long run on sentence.. Now I can't post anywhere else!@!

and they tried some tests then as usual said you are not using our
router put that in and it will be fixed. I told them I wanted a new
modem got it and the issues stopped..

    Go figure?!?!!?

Yeah they always hope that if you just reboot it while on the line, they get a fast ticket closure. Then they realize you don't own there equipment and refuse to help. I'm like, but here are the log files showing it you on YOUR end, not mine. Now I have fiber and don't have to fight them as much and save myself around $300USD each month on top of it .. LOL

I've been having issues where Mystic just drops calls randomly since moving to 49 - how hard was it to revert back to 48?
Fairly easy, IIRC - I just did an ./upgrade - or is it ./update?? And
was able to go back to A48.... I don't recall any issues or hoops to
    jump thru.

I tried that and kept getting errors about the data file versions not matched. I ran the upgrade.exe as well. :/

I thought it was my telnet. Glad others see it too!

Interesting, I've not had these issues at all but I have had some issues with events and semaphores. I've changed all event logic to just run as cronjobs at an OS level.

What OS/bitrate are you guys using? I'm using 64 bit linux.

Windows 64 here. I can't seem to figure out what is causing it. I've even tried going back to stock theme without my mods and it'll still do it.

So if I remember correctly that's two reports of folks on A49 for Windows complaining of these issues. I'd be curious to see if there are linux sysops dealing with the same...guess I should feel fortunate *shrug*

Nevertheless that sucks. Hopefully g00r00 makes his reappearance before long!
