Re: Re: Unzip packets

Howdy,
Does Mystic uzip echomail packet or do I need to use pkzip or some other program to do so. And if so how do I set up the unzip program to automatically unzip the files?
You don't HAVE to use ZIP with your packets, you can leave the Archive Type blank and you'll just use raw .PKT files.
Just so this isnt confusing - Cozmo is a node on Hub 3.
While it is true that fido packets do not need to be compressed - outgoing packets *from* Hub 3 are compressed for many reasons. The main one is that I've discovered that in some scenario it will overwrite packets, so that node "B" gets "A"'s packet.
It's quite possibly a config issue on my behalf, componded by the fact its a busy activity with all the downstream nodes, and a fast system, were all tossing occurs within the same second - but I found that when hpt bundles up the packets (after a tossing event), then no packets get overwritten. Hence why its turned on by default. (And its zip by default, but it can be anything else...)
So, while you can send uncompressed packets to Hub 3, Cosmo will need a compression tool to unbundle the packets Hub 3 builds and packs for him.
Via email, I think we sorted this out.
(Perhaps if I can nut out the case where it is overwriting packets, then I can properly remove this restriction, but for now, its best to keep bundled packets. It also keeps the "outbound" somewhat clean - but I could address that with some scripting to find orphan packets I guess.)
