    Just curious, here in central Indiana USA gasoline topped $4 a gallon today. Still heading upward. Local experts (hahaha) say we can expect
    $5 a gallon by a week from Monday. That coupled with massive price increases at the grocery store, and no such increase in wages this year has put a pinch on the old family budget. Definitely putting in a
    vegtable garden in May.

    this is over a month old and I am playing catch up. In New Zealand the cost of petrol went from around $2.10 a litre up to close to $2.70 (from memory) then then government removed some of the tax on fuel temporarily to help alleviate the costs... but in short it still expensive and will cost more over the next year.... e-cars are getting popular now :)

    $3.70 today. Grocery packaging keeps getting smaller and prices keeping going up.

    Something tells me that theft is going to go way up this year.

    Here in Ontario the cheapest I've seen gas today is $1.68 / litre and as much as $1.72 / litre (for regular) which is the most expensive I've ever seen gas, ever.

    A quick online conversion says that $1.72 per litre is ~$5.13 / US gallon based on today's exchange rate.

    Yesterday I noticed the less expensive gas station near me (which recently had gas for about $3.70/gallon) had a price of $4.19/gallon (other gas stations were already around there).

    It has climbed over to $2/L in west Canada, and about $1.85/L
    elsewhere in Canada. It is poised to climb another 10cents/L
    overnight.

    1 imperial gal == 4.55 L
    1 US gallon == 3.78 L

    Multiply the above $ figures accordingly.

    $4/gal seems pretty cheap by comparison.

    Northwest Tennessee - went up about 25 cents a gallon, but the small
    down down the road with only 2 stations? 4.09 at each...

    Headed to Indy Friday after work... Usually get gas in Henderson,
    Kentucky on the way, cause it's cheaper there than when you get into Evansville. :-)

    Here, gasoline is approx. $7.50/gallon ($1.99/liter), but approx 54% of that are taxes (carbon dioxide tax, energy tax, and 25% VAT on top of all that). The taxes have been there for a looong time, but the increase in oil prices lately combined with an increased admixture of bio fuel from Jan 1, 2022 has pushed the prices to all time highs...

    Best regards

    Very badly.

    I am going to have to teach my horses to take a saddle, if things go this way for long.

    I'm surpised that don't take them out for rides generally. I
    suppose they would need horse shoes do that properly.

    My neighbors, whom you may remember with the Palaminos, took 2
    of the three for a ride on the country road at my house. I was
    passing them going up a hill. The roads were still quite icey
    and/or covered with snow.. and they were coming DOWN. I suppose
    horse shoes would be mandatory in that situation.

    One of my horses would just be uncomfortable to ride. She is thick as a Sherman tank.

    To be honest, horseback riding never interested me much. I want the horses for getting horsehugs.

    And yeah, if you plan on riding through hard terrain you need horseshoes for that.

    The Capital area of Kentucky is still hanging around $3.69, as of 2 hours
    ago.

    Most of what I grow, veggie wise, does not turn out well. Cherry tomatoes being the exception. Everything else either does not grow or the local wildlife gets it before it is ripe.

    I'm in hamco Indy .. so same prices ;) We've been gardening for a few years now; this year I'm starting plants indoors by seed, with heat mats and indoor greenhouse. I hope I'm successful as who knows what plants will
    run this year. My wife drives to Greenwood daily for work .. no fun if
    gas gets above $5.00 we'll be eating roman noodles for a while :/
