I've never minded eating broccoli, though about the only way I would eat it as a kid was to put some melted cheese whiz on it. As an adult just some melted butter will do (I can't remember the last time I bought cheese whiz).

We recently went out for dinner and one of the side dishes was broccoli with melted butter and almonds on it, but it also had a hint of lemon which was really nice. We tried this recipe for "Broccoli Almondine" from Epicurious and it was spot on:

Microwave it first to cook it inside, then sear it in a cast-iron pan with olive oil, red pepper flakes and sea salt. top off with shredded asiago cheese. That's my go-to.

Well it looks fine in ECWEB4.

It's UTF-8, which AFAIK is not supported by Syncterm. That's why people see upside down question marks. Synchronet (and maybe Mystic?) can deal with it, which is why webv4 can translate Cyrillic.

In short, fsxNet can transfer UTF-8. And Synchronet can translate it. And I can view your Russian (?) message fine on my web page, but not when I log into my BBS with Syncterm.

I'd venture to say most of the BBS users on this network aren't reading the messages with ecwebv4. Many users are probably reading the messages with the text-based reader on a BBS, or perhaps an offline reader. Also, some of the BBSes on this network don't run Synchronet - they may run Mystic or perhaps other BBS software, which ecwebv4 is not compatible with.

Thunderbird can view it just fine too. It's mostly (entirely?) a client issue not understanding UTF-8.

I get that sometimes if I've pasting some text from the web into Netrunner, sometimes an apostrophe or a hyphen/em dash will get pasted as garbly gook so I'll have to manually go and edit those.

I've had to do this with the weather and horoscopes I have set to auto-post as well, I run them through iconv to make sure all of the text is ascii as every now and then they'd contain some random UTF-8 character.
