• Busy Day

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Thu Feb 4 03:35:48 2021
Well my wife went in for some elective surgery yesterday, it was some stuff
to help sort sinus problems and having blocked up nasal passages etc.

I had a busy day supporting her as we went to the hospital and got her
admitted then after the surgery spending time with her in her room until it
was around 8pm when I went home for the night.

She was discharged today and I worked from home so juggled both things along with booking some air travel to visit my parents at the end of this month.
They are in the North Island and I live in the South Island so it pays to fly :)

My mum has not been very well as of late and sounded tired when I last spoke
to her. I haven't seen my folks face to face in more than a year so I'm
looking forward to the visit towards the end of this month.

Tonight I am bashing away at sorting nodelist compilation software to run on
my new linux box, and also looking after the lady in my life :)

Hope you're doing well in your part of the globe :)

    Best, Paul

Sounds like something I might need, but as my first partner had similar surgery, which failed long term, I'm a bit hesitant. Maybe I should have a talk to the doc one day. :)

    Have fun. ;)

Hope you're doing well in your part of the globe :)

I've been insanely busy this week. Monday morning, my normal gym session, followed by mobility, spent around 2 hours there. Took the night off from operational firefighting training, because I knew this was a particularly heavy week.

Yesterday, I had a quiet morning, played a bit of ham radio on various modes (P25, D-STAR and AllStar), and a bit later on a local repeater. Then off to the track for prehab mobility, followed by a 400m endurance session (they ALWAYS hurt! :D ). Then over to the fire brigade. Didn't have enough numbers to run any competition events, so we did a strength circuit (burpees++ ;) )instead between the warmup and cooldown. Had to hang around for a private meeting with the training officer, about starting a new guy that I'm mentoring off with his training, then the regular monthly meeting. After the meeting, one of the new guys wanted to consult me about improving his fitness, so we had a bit of a chat about various in house and outside options that would be suitable for him.

Today it got really insane (as if it wasn't already!). Early start, shopping at 8, back by 9, then gym (Wednesday weights), rush back, had 15 minutes to prepare for a presentation that I gave via Facebook Live at 11. Got the tech up and running in time and did the whole thing impromptu. That worked really well, and gave me the ability to respond to questions and comments in real time. Then followed that by a debrief meeting at 12, quick bite of lunch then back on the radio for a club net at 1PM.

Finally, afternoon massage and pick up a few things that I didn't have time in the morning (required an extra stop at a different supermarket) on the way home, and here I am BBSing. ;) Tomorrow, I'm out for lunch, then on to training, much like last night. Friday is a club committee meeting in the morning, with a regular social coffee after lunch, and athletics meet after dinner. :) The busy week rolls on and not likely to slow down until Sunday. :)

Seems to be a fairly common thing, I know a chap who's into running here in Dunedin and he also had the same procedure. He was very happy after it was done. So yeah, mileage may vary I guess.

Sounds good, glad the surgery was uneventful and she's well on the road

Maybe it's time to put a bit of faith in the medical system. :) Now when to take myself "offline" LOL. The thought of being inactive for a period of time isn't appealing at all. :/

I did, today was a rest day, only a yoga class this morning, then very restful.
As a bonus, even a little sleep in until almost 7:30 this morning (compared to 6 or earlier as my usual time). :)

    Hi Tony

Since I have updated things at 1/100 I'm seeing some weirdness in our connections.

Firstly can you confirm the systems polling 1/100 and presenting Fido and fsxNet AKAs are using the same password and case?

I've commented out your Fido aka at present but have a look at how that
seemed to allow your traffic to pass in to the HUB as I guess the session matched on your fsx password... curiously it shows as a fido session.

run on my new linux box, and also looking after the lady in my life :)

    Have fun.

Sounds like something I might need, but as my first partner had similar surgery, which failed long term, I'm a bit hesitant. Maybe I should
have a talk to the doc one day. :)

Seems to be a fairly common thing, I know a chap who's into running here in Dunedin and he also had the same procedure. He was very happy after it was done. So yeah, mileage may vary I guess.

Sounds good, glad the surgery was uneventful and she's well on the road
    to recovery. :)

Thanks, the key is to keep her still as she wants to do lots of stuff and I
    say 'rest' just 'rest' heh...

Another thing I have to do - call and/or visit my parents. It is their wedding anniversary (hmm, 59 years I think) next week, so that might be
    a good opportunity/

It's always good to be able to catch up when able :)

athletics meet after dinner. :) The busy week rolls on and not likely

I got really tired just reading all of that 'busy life'... :) wow... be sure
to take a break and rest up too!

Nice chatting, best wishes for the upcoming track meets etc.
