I was hoping to see if any one had any suggestions for a tool to handle Linux Audio. The one thing I really miss from Windows is my audio program VoiceMeter Potato. That thing was worth every cent. Allows you the have control over your audio like nothing else. Basically a full on mixer plus audio recorder and more. I don't expect something as nice but would like to be able to have more control than I do. I have seen some videos of something called pipewire which looks cool but also looks like you would need to fully replace the built in audio system and leads to comparability issues.

If there was something that has multiple inputs and outputs with the ability to mix channels, this is what I would want. Also duplicating audio out. For instance. I have more than one headset so if a guest comes over we can both use my teamspeak. 2 headsets but the program only sees 1 mic and 1 output.

The opposite is true too. Lets say I wanted to stream my ANSiTV Mod and only have the audio from Quantum Radio playing. Still being on Teamspeak I can have it segregate the audio traveling to each device.

If you know of any cool software let me know so I can check it out.

you can do a lot of that stuff with pulseaudio.. which may or may not be the default audio handler depending on what linux distro you use. there isn't a nice interface i know of (at least for configuring this stuff initially) so you're kind of stuck typing things into a prompt and then seeing what shows up in whatever volume controller app you use.

i was, for example, able to create a separate 'fake' audio interface that took a mono signal and put it to both channels before sending it on to the main output. fairly common for audio interfaces with two mic inputs where they put them on left and right..

i think pulseaudio calls them 'sinks'. but i don't think any of the sinks HAVE to go to a real interface (i.e. they might only go to a stream or w/e)

JACK is also an option. that's more the 'pro audio' solution. if you set up a DAW you might be able to configure something like voicemeeter with the cool faders and everything.

Yup Pulse Audio is what I have. You say there isn't a nice interface that comes with it. Is there one you recommend to add? I have Manjaro so I would guess with the AUR might have something, just so many to choose from and don't feel like installing and uninstalling a million things to get what I want.

Yeah I was going to recommend using JACK for this as well. Things seem to be moving towards Pipewire, which is designed as a drop-in replacement for some of the older audio systems and is supposed to be designed for some of these newer audio use cases.
