When we moved here about 18 months ago, I first found that my only
option was a local 20 Mb ISP. Then a new ISP showed up with up to 1 Gig speeds! Now the 20 Mb guy has been running underground fiber in my neighborhood and advertising 1 Gig speeds! We're moving up!

It was a similar situation when we moved into our current neighbourhood, the newer areas had fibre direct to the home while on my street (still new, but not new enough) has DSL & cable connections. It's been 10 years and they still haven't brought fibre direct to our house yet.

It's not really a big concern though as we have the cable internet and get gigabit down (w/ 30Mb up), but symmetrical gigabit would be pretty sweet.

BTW, haven't seen any gators yet! :)
