  • Mid life crisis

    I think due to self doubt and likely autism I have engaged more with the digital world more than the real world. I have to do more social activities and life the final half of my life to the best of my abilities. I do not expect to marry someone, but Id like to have at least one or two meaningful relationships with someone before I exit the celestrial plane of life.

    I am happy for who I am, but I can do better.

    Under modern diagnostic criteria, I would be on the spectrum, and I know what it's like to struggle with impulse control, social anxiety, and emotional and sensory overload. That said, I think you just have to follow your passions: the things that you're interested in. You will find people who share your interests and, before you know it, find partnership and meaningful relationships.

    Do not give up on yourself. You're worth the glorious future that you believe in.

    I am in the same boat. Busy with work, which is draining and takes up your "headspace" to the extent you're not too worried about anything else.

    I'm not sure whether I've reached a "mid life crisis" as my life has always felt like that.

    The most important things in life are the memories you have, and the legacy you leave behind, so perhaps you can think of what you need to do in terms of that.

    What do you have planned for the social activities you will do?

    Words of advice, do not try too hard, do not judge quickly, worry more about how you can enrich others' lives than your own life, and be accepting if your years are quiet socially.

    Arriving at mid-life you have the sage wisdom of your years to fall back upon. What works for you? What makes others happy? And where have you found your joy?

    These are the places to start your quest.

    Just forcing yourself to get out and do stuff can help.
