the only thing i miss from chromeOS is you could use various key comb use keys you don't have; pgup, pgdn, end, home, delete, etc.
One expects this would come under kayboard mapping. But I can't help
much more than that, I've not had much joy with it in the past..
haven't looked for a looooong time.
I used a script from mrchomebox.tech ... I have Mr.Chromebox-4.14 with UEFI firmware.
Anyway - now running GalliumOS with the full bios flash
so no going back for me now. :)
I need to check their site again, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't
support my Chromebooks yet. I have an Acer Chromebook 14 among others
that I wouldn't mind running that on.
Speaking of Chromebooks, though.. My CR-48's power supply was sitting unplugged from the laptop (but still plugged into the wall) on the floor.. and it caught on fire! Man it's a good thing I happened to be in my computer room BBSing late that night. I would've normally been passed out on the couch by then! It was either carpet fuzz, a bug, or Google trying
to kill me..

Anyone else doing this have a fix to get that functionality back?

Under crouton I just went into the keyboard settings and added the
combo's to get those functions.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Be careful with the link though, that one takes you to a spam site. Left the R out of the mrchromebox lol.
crouton is still chromeOS =/
crouton is still chromeOS =/
Right so the exact same procedure in my ubuntu install doesn't work the exact same way as it does in yours. Don't be so condescending pretty damn rude if you ask me.

I removed chromeOS from my chromebook.
I didn't just use the linux virtual machine that came with chromeOS. So
I can't use chromeOS options.
Correct. I had to remap the keys using the keyboard remapping options under ubuntu. Has nothing to do with chromos.... That's why I suggested it.

Sorry. I misunderstood.

Gallium looked nice, but I had problems booting it. I have another Chromebook going EOL, so I may try with it next.

Don't connect to wifi when installing. Let it install what it has then update afterwards. Otherwise the installer downloads some ubuntu
upgrade that breaks on chromebooks.

Sorry I snapped. No excuse other then under pressure and
taking it out on everyone.

I couldn't even boot it on a Lenovo X131e. I have a N21 that's going
EOL, I'll try it again.

Hi. Just good vibes your way to you and yours... it's a pants time at
the mo. Hope you guys are doing a wee bit better today.
Wasn't that the first Chromebook model? Might be part of their
"Agressive EOL" strategy.

I was lucky with this one that the bios was a easy flash, and the WP
screw was drillable. (Stripped it so just drilled it out) Once that
was done it was a quite simple install. No going back, but why would
I when it wouldn't get updates anyway.

I'll try again, my mom has a wonderful 14" Toshiba Chromebook with a lovely 1080p screen and great audio, but it's falling off support. Hopefully Gallium will work on it.
