Maybe you can try unfollowing people?

    [snip]

But at some point I started either snoozing or unfollowing people, whenever I thought they were frequently posting political things, or
just things that were a negative for me to see, on balance.

I've been (at times) unfollowing people on social also. It's really
interesting the psychology around all of this. FB etc. I think bank on the prospect that people will have that fear of missing out and in doing so avoid removing themselves from online social scenes they had earlier opted into. To opt out takes quite a bit of conscious effort. I think folks forget it's not
a forever option either... and that one can always rejoin/check out the scene again if they wanted to.

    Or defriend them.

I culled a lot of people from my facebook, still some people post some annoying shit, but I just ignore it, because if they're still on my
friend list they are important to me regardless.

    Yep same here...

I think this is a large part of what I like about unfollowing. I can still check in on a person if/when I want to see what they've been up to on
Facebook -- I'm just choosing not to have their content in my feed.

Kind of like the difference between getting a phone notification and going to 68k.news.

My rule for myself seems to work just fine and acts as a great drama filter! That is: leave the haters on UNsocial media such as deFacingBook, InstaGrudge Twitz'r('us), etc and keep the positivity on the FTN nets! Seems to also help boost traffic in here :)
