Maybe you can try unfollowing people?
But at some point I started either snoozing or unfollowing people, whenever I thought they were frequently posting political things, or
just things that were a negative for me to see, on balance.
Or defriend them.
I culled a lot of people from my facebook, still some people post some annoying shit, but I just ignore it, because if they're still on my
friend list they are important to me regardless.
opted into. To opt out takes quite a bit of conscious effort. I think folks forget it's not a forever option either... and that one can always rejoin/check out the scene again if they wanted to.

I've been (at times) unfollowing people on social also. It's really interesting the psychology around all of this. FB etc. I think bank on
the prospect that people will have that fear of missing out and in
doing so avoid removing themselves from online social scenes they had earlier opted into. To opt out takes quite a bit of conscious effort. I think folks forget it's not a forever option either... and that one can always rejoin/check out the scene again if they wanted to.
