I'm the opposite. I'd rather operate an electric device and
avoid all the extra maintenance and smell that a gas-powered
    machine requires.

Case in point, I have an electric weed wacker - took a little
getting used to manipulating the cord for it, but I like being
able to just release the trigger and not hear the motor all the
    time.

I have an electric mower too - same circumstances - a chord
that needs to be managed. But again, I like being able to just
release the grip and not have to deal with the motor noise all

Both of the above are fine for close proximity trim/cut in most
places around the house and yard.

Electric powered gardening tools are only good it you intend to work on a
small area at a time, imo. I also had an electric weed cracker and it was pityful.

Still, a pair of horses beat mechanical lawn mowers any day. This saturday I got drunk after a BBQ and ended up asleep in the barn cuddling up with a horse. Try that with a mechanical lawn mower :-)

You can always replace the transformer/rectifier part of the charger, unless
    it is something very sophisticated.

Usually you can find spare charges for sale, sometimes used on eFlea (eBay)

I agree. I got tired of the noise and smell of the gas mower, along with
the maintenance just to get it to start. I pulled my last mower cord
several years ago when I bought a battery operated mower. It works great
and on one charge I can mow both my front and back lawns. Never going
    back to gas.

Case in point, I have an electric weed wacker - took a little
getting used to manipulating the cord for it, but I like being
able to just release the trigger and not hear the motor all the
    time.

Our weed wacker is battery operated too. I need to buy a second battery
because that one is not always enough to finish both front and back.
But, it charges fast like the mower battery.

I have an electric mower too - same circumstances - a chord
that needs to be managed. But again, I like being able to just
release the grip and not have to deal with the motor noise all
    the time.

I used to have an electric mower that was operated by a cord. I didn't
like the cord management - I wasn't that sophisticated with it and it
seemed to get in the way, but that house had a much smaller lawn than I
have now, so it was doable. I switched back to a gas mower after that,
but like I said, a few years ago moved to the battery operated kind.

I left my set of alan keys at the trailer. So now I have to
wait until the next time I go back to get them and then try.

We have a battery powered weed wacker, leaf blower and a manual lawn
mower. (THe old old school one that is just powered by human muscle).
The weed wacker works great, the leaf blower (if the charger hadn't
given up) worked okay, and of course other then sharpening the blades
every decade or so the lawn mower has no maintance.

Both of the above are fine for close proximity trim/cut in most

I went battery as the price of an extention cord was out to lunch.

I actually had that happen to me at a party, withy the exception I was not drunk. I don't drink with people because I know how badly alcohol affects me.

What I thought when that happened to me was "My neck is kiling me, I have fallen asleep in such a bad position."

My parties are alcohol-less, actually. At least 99% of them.

Also the only atendants are white male programers and engineers, who are more interested in achieving the perfect speedrun for the videogame of the week than snatching a girl. So yeah there are usually no girls.

Horses can sleep standing on, but they need a minimum time per day laying too. I don't think I have caught any of mine laying for more than 30 minutes, though, and laying for long periods of time can be dangerous for their health.

They also organize "guard turns" so there is always a horse standing if the others are taking a nap down, unless they think the area is safe. This sucks because if I am working around, they may decide it is my turn for standing guard :-)

I knew that extended periods of laying down was a problem. Why
is that? Are they crushing their ribcage or restricting
    circulation, or something?

They also organize "guard turns" ...

That I did not know. I think cattle do something similar. Cows

to lend her my hat. Youn may guess how it went for her.

"My" hats are OFF limits for me too, especially the one that I
would be wearing at the time.

I was sporting a fine Tilley hat for the first time in public
at one time (the one I'm actually wearing on my FB pic), and
the women around me all wanted to try it on. :/

Horses can sleep standing on, but they need a minimum time
per day laying too. I don't think I have caught any of mine
laying for more than 30 minutes, though, and laying for
long periods of time can be dangerous for their health.

I knew that extended periods of laying down was a problem. Why
is that? Are they crushing their ribcage or restricting
    circulation, or something?

You got it right. It crushes their ribcage and therefore may cause lung problems. This is one of
the reasons why equine surgery has to be done fast. You can't have the horse on the surgery table
for more than 2 or 3 hours.

    Hahaha, I can picture.

In my case, the dialogue went this way.

"Hey, Arelor, that's a nice hat you have. Can I try it?"

    "NO!"

    "Why?"

    "Because this hat is *MINE*!"

Electric powered gardening tools are only good it you intend to work on a

My parties are alcohol-less, actually. At least 99% of them.

Also the only atendants are white male programers and engineers, who are more interested in achieving the perfect speedrun for the videogame of the week than snatching a girl. So yeah there are usually no girls.

Something along the lines "I am asleepy, and this mare
    looks like a comfy cushion."

I thought horses slept standing up.

That I did not know. I think cattle do something similar. Cows
also tend to assign babysitters amongst the other adult females
when the little ones are laying down for a rest.

<LOL> It is a at least a sign of trust and respect to you.

"My" hats are OFF limits for me too, especially the one that I

I was sporting a fine Tilley hat for the first time in public

the women around me all wanted to try it on. :/
