• rookie fsxNet/message area ?

From paulie420@21:2/150 to All on Fri May 28 11:46:40 2021
So I added all those new fsxNet areas as to the end of my message areas.

When I join the fsxNet conference, and do an Area List, they display correctly... the new areas are on the end of the list and bob's yer uncle.

When I do a global newscan, tho, the new fsxNet areas show... after scanning the other FTNs/message areas that are now before them...

Can I move those areas to... where they should be? Right after the last fsxNet area from before? I know I can copy/paste a message or file area - but... anyone understand this simple problem I'm describing? And ... what do I do?? :P

    I'm not sure I understand.

Are the areas showing up in the correct group? If not you may need to adjust the list acs for those new areas to include the group. My own fsxnet areas use a list acs like s10g3.

Try going to message base editor, if they are at the bottom of the list find one want to move. Use / key and choose copy, then move up the list to where
you want the base to be then use / key and choose move before.... rinse and repeat for other bases ... that may do it.

No, I have the group set correctly. If I goto the fsxNet conference and ONLY search that group it goes just fine...

But when I go a GLOBAL newscan, it scans the regular fsxNet areas... then all my other FTNs... and the NEW fsxNet areas I just added, to the end of my message areas list, show up out of place because... they are like message area 230-235...

So Mystic shows all those areas in between - and they show up out of order.

Got it; I just never knew how the 'move before' thing worked. I knew I could copy and paste / delete, but I think I understand how you're explaining move before works. w00t w00t! Thanks Avon.

Tag all the message areas and do a global "sort" and pick your sort (I go by name decending) and Boom, Bob's your Uncle.

Yup, I do something similar. I select all and sort by network, and then I select each message base in each network and sort by network name.

Keeps them all neat and tidy.

Yes, HSM - I understand what you're saying.. and that will work. But I found a better way, for my users and I, was to move the new bases to just before twhere the old ones stopped. I copied each base, and 'insert before next base' and then even my users will see them in the correct order. I know your way would work for personal scans, but the other way works to fix the real problem - that the fsxNet was broken up into two locations.
