I do wonder about the efficacy of spending x amount of money for that versus x amount of money for programs to reduce the amount of trash

with clear plastic lids to these foldable cardboard boxes that are
coated on the inside.

management was doing some level of trash-shaming and letting tenants
know when they weren't in compliance with city regulations.

charged less!

The last time I got takeout I had the coated cardboard box container,

These are not really single-use in my house. If they make it here without holes being poked in them, they get reused as garbage bags. Our grocery stores were taking them back for recycling, until COVID started. Now that
I am VAXed and shopping in person again, I need to see if they still do.
I reuse plastic and paper bags until they fall appart. They are great
to move the horses' food in manageable quantities to the barn :-) I
also reuse them as garbage bags, but I prefer dogfood and horsefood
bags for the garbage myself.

posted. They work fine, but I still use the metal set more

I can remember seeing some wooden cutlery as a kid, although it was usually only used forbaking. :)
Yes, I use the larger plastic bags for the kitchen garbage, but use
the smaller shopping bags for my office room and bed room. I use the shopping bags also forcarrying my not-recycleable-at-home paper trash (envelopes, junk mail, etc) to the office, where we can recycle it.

Probably both. A couple of jobs ago the company I worked for was very bullish about "zero waste to landfil" from our location. Part of this included removing the garbage & recycling bins from everyone's desks.
Now if you wanted to throw something out, you had to get up from your

of 4 colour coded bins. Waste, Compost, Paper or Plastics.

San Francisco was pretty bullish about that, and the building
management was doing some level of trash-shaming and letting tenants
know when they weren't in compliance with city regulations.
The waste management company one county down was amazing - they

charged less!
