Here in NZ our roll out has started but the bulk of the population won't
start to get them until around July onwards. To start with they are focused
on border workers and those who work in managed isolation/quarenteen facilities.

I've heard that. My company has a pool of PTO allocated for covid-related

They lowered the age restriction here, so I was able to get in.

I took my mom to a drive-in site for her shot in February. The woman looked
in the car and asked if we were both getting the vaccine.

I said, with a slightly shocked tone, "Do I look 75 to you?"

The nurse said, "Well, we're vaccinating people as young as 65 as of this week..."

    I said "DO I LOOK 65????"

    She waved us on...

I found out yesterday that I'm eligible for a shot as a part of Phase 1B, as I'm in the emergency services (there was some uncertainty about volunteers, because of the ambiguous wording in the Federal government's information), so I'd better book it. Would like to have my first shot a few weeks before heading to Queensland - nothing against Queenslanders, but passing through 4 airports, 2 capital cities and a number of large regional centres in a week is bound to increase exposure risk to anything that might sneak out of quarantine.

More power to you, I suppose. Me personally, theres been too many adverse events related to these things. Not to mention, I've not trusted Big Pharma for about 20 years now. My immune system is also quite the fortress, haven't gotten so much as a cold or flu in over 10 years. Improvements in my diet helped with that as well.

I've always found it both horrifying and amusing to watch all of the drug commercials with the long list of nasty side effects. Anal leakage is my personal favorite.

I never personally understood this. What does a vaxed person have to fear from someone who is not vaccinated? Isn't a vaxed person protected? Also, I grew up being told by my doctors that the best way to protect yourself, is to actually get the cold / flu so that your body can create an immunity. Of course, people with existing health issues need to be more careful about what they do. I'm just old school. Always will be.

A Doctor friend once told me about these disclosures. She said that, if during the drug trial, an unexplainable thing happens, it is required to be listed as a possible side effect.

So, if some new arthritis cream has someone develop massive hair loss that can't be explained and even if the product was never applied to that area, it must be listed as a "possible" side effect, since they don't know for sure whether that effect was in any way influenced by the product.

You'd actually have to dig into the data to find the actual accurace rate for those "side effects" to see if they really are anything to worry about.

What I find hilarious is when you have a product deigned to treat something minor (oh, like something to derease freckles or something) and some of the "side effects" listed are paralysis and death. Even though I know why that may be listed, I still get a chuckle and say "yeah, I think I'll keep my freckles, thanks."

A vaccinated person can catch one of the variants, but the severity will be less. So, even if you catch Covid, which you have less of a chance of doing so, the recovery will be easier, the synptoms less severe, and the chance of hospitalization lower.

I have an elderly mother who's had health issues, and until recently a child for whom the vaccine wasn't available until recently. So, yes, I'm
protected, but there's still a chance of getting Covid and passing it on to loved ones with less protection and more of a chance of serious effects than me.

I am not vaccinated. Let's not debate the "why" for now.

I am also an Uber driver that has worked through the entire pandemic. I have been exposed to literally thousands of people during this time, all of them LESS than 6' (2m) from me because they are in my car.

I never got sick. I was driving people around before there evern was a vaccine, so I've seen both sides of the "vaccine lowers transmission rates" world.

My friend is in the same boat, except that he decided to get vaccinated about a year ago. He never got sick before or after.

Of course, this is a sample size of 2, so the data we produce is not statistically significant. But I did want to share some data that you don't hear about much in the mainstream media.

You will likely have a much stronger reaction to the second shot,
probably a good idea to take that day off from work... I was not able
to work that day, but when I woke up the next day, it was like a switch was flipped and I was 100% over it. I had pretty severe chills and
body aches during that day after the shot (also had Moderna).

I've heard that. My company has a pool of PTO allocated for covid-related
time off, and post-vaccine recovery is included. I think I'll take a day off just in case.

Here in NZ our roll out has started but the bulk of the population
won't start to get them until around July onwards. To start with they
are focused on border workers and those who work in managed isolation/quarenteen facilities.

Yep.. I'll be glad when most people around me will be vaxx'd.
Then I'll feel a lot safer when those people won't be spreading
    live virii around. ;)

Tomorrow I get my second. I've heard it's worse. We'll see.

Pretty common to have a reaction to the second. I sure did. Took about
12 hours after the shot to start, and then lasted about 24 hours, and
    went away completely.

I got my second yesterday. I feel fine except my arm is probably twice as sore this time and it's hard to lift it.

The problem is, the Pfizer vaccine is effective upto 6 months. What happens to those who got the vaccine first and still waiting for the stragglers to get theirs? There's a break in the chain and it starts all over again.

I hope it does last longer. We'll have to see.

I got my first Pfizer shot a few weeks ago, getting my booster on Monday 4/12.

I didn't have a bad reaction to the first shot, expecting the second one to put me on my butt for a few days.
