I also carry WhisperNet, and I've noticed my system has been unable to connect to his too.

Sometimes he has taken his sytem down and put it back up without notice..

No, but I can say that cr1mson is not currently polling for Zone 21 games packets and it's been over a month now since I have seen polling activity from him :(

I dropped that network from my board several years ago, for that exact reason. Got tired of the non-connects, non-communication from him, and general sloppy operation of a (dead) network.

All of his multiple FidoNet domains/nodes are non-responsive, as well.

No, but I can say that cr1mson is not currently polling for Zone 21 games packets and it's been over a month now since I have seen polling activity from him :(

Over the years, I've noticed he sometimes takes his system(s) down without notice.

I've done the same. I re-added his network a while ago when he sent me an email about it, but I've noticed I don't seem to be able to connect. I might just remove his network again. It would be good if he'd at least send some notice before he shut his system(s) down..

same, but it makes it hard to keep links up when packets are not being collected... oh well..

I've done the same. I re-added his network a while ago when he
sent me an email about it, but I've noticed I don't seem to be
able to connect. I might just remove his network again. It
would be good if he'd at least send some notice before he shut

He has a long history of that behavior, and of not giving any valid explanation when he does decide to show up again.

He's been down for a number of weeks on the FidoNet side; seems his
multiple domain names have all expired.

I left that network a long time ago as well, but every now & then I'll see his system trying to crash whispernet mail to me in the logs, even though I unsubscribed from all of the echos and sent him a netmail and email saying I'm quitting the network.
