I'm a second-generation pipe smoker, but since having kids, rarely
smoke. I
started smoking due to my dad's influence, and I've never wanted them
My dad was a cigarette smoker, so I'm glad I never picked up that habit.
For some reason, even to this day cigarette smoke bothers me, but pipe
smoke is fine.
selling his collection of 40-50 pipes. I should find someone to sell
them on
consignment, as I've lost the patience for selling on eBay.
Yeah, that's understandable..
I subscribe to the North American Society of Pipe Collectors magazine and
they have frequent ads for consignment sellers. A couple of picks here
for you (these are just me picking out the ads, I know nothing of each
of these companies):
 - pipestud.com --
steve@pipestud.com 30% commission
 - www.blueroombriars.com
mike@oldpipesrule.com
 - www.pipes2smoke.com --
pipes2smoke@bell.net
Or maybe reach out to the president of the NASPC (
president@naspc.org)
and have a chat to him. His name's Jeff Knoll.
There's also a guy I know through Youtube who I can recommend. Not sure
if he specifically does consignments, but might be worth talking to. His
name's Jim and I think he's in Ohio. His company is CJP's Pipe Rescue.
His email is
corvettejim@yahoo.com
My issue (see above) is trying to keep my tobacco smokeable when I
smoke
once or twice a year. I have some Macbaren's Latakia blend which keeps pretty well, an old tin of Dunhill's Mixture 965, and another tin of Esoterica Margate that is no longer made.
I haven't tried any of those. I thought about trying the new rebooted
Dunhill mixes, but haven't yet.
How do you store them? I know a lot of people who store opened tobacco in
mason jars and those seem to keep well. I think it depends on how dry or
moist the tobacco is orginally before storage.
There's a usenet newsgroup called alt.smokers.pipes that needs some
traffic.
You should post there to lower the average age below 80. :)
hahah. Thanks. I am half-arsedly part of the youtube pipe smoking
community (YTPC), who are all ages and all across the planet.
