I guess what I mean to say, is that I am more fluent with WFC-style menu configurations, rather than editing text file configs. Though I do like that HJSON does seem to make things much easier in this regard.

Especially when it comes to editing and customizing menu systems. Back in the day, systems like Renegade and Telegard made this quite easy. Where as with things like MPL, Baja, etc it would be very easy for me to accidentally break something.

I'm sure as Enigma 1/2 is used by more Sysops, there will be more third party utils than we can count, and I'm sure an RG-Style Configuration editor will likely end up in the mix somewhere.

    Hi there

Hope you're doing OK in this busy world we're all living in right now.

Here in New Zealand we're in the middle of a long weekend as we celebrate Waitangi Day. It's a day that reflects the signing of a document between indigenous Maori and the European settlers that arrived by boat some 100+ years ago. Have a look for more info online if interested.

Suffice to say it's a 3 day weekend and some of us (cough cough me) have opted to tack on 1-2 more days off over the following week to get a longer break :)

Yesterday my wife and I did some shopping in town, she bought the James Bond film No Time to Die and we watched that last night. I think I'll post a review / comments in the movies echomail area in the coming days or so.

Earlier this week was busy as our youngest son (who had been back living with us for 5 weeks) moved out to a new flat. So the parents were involved in helping him get shifted in OK. I did a lot of lugging and lifting of sofas and large appliances for the kitchen. My back is not very happy at the moment.

In a few weeks time I will be traveling to spend time with my parents. My dad needs cancer treatment and my mum is showing signs of dementia and needs help with preparing meals, working home appliances etc. I'll look after her while dad is away during the week. He needs to travel also to get the treatments he
requires. I expect I will be away for about a month. Traveling during a rising wave of Omicron is not ideal but it is what it is.

At the moment I've been gearing up for this extended stay away, getting a new work laptop sorted, etc.

What else, did some gardening, planted some plants, should mow lawns but the weather has been wet. I have a few new nodes to add today to fsx, have been looking at USB microphones, thinking about getting something there for use with future videos but I also have a nice microphone (Shure) I use with my LPFM station, so I may flog that and see if I can get it working the way I want.

It's nearly 9am Sunday now, I'd best go get breakfast sorted for my wife :)

    Best, Paul

It is 9:24am here on Sunday, like catching up on things and having an expresso latte like normal.

Yesterday evening we went to a neighbors house that had invited people from our cul-de-sac over. Also had gone bowling during the day, as my son turned 15 years old and loves bowling.

Today we are having family over for his birthday and that is about it. It is sunny here, but very cold. It went down to 15F last night and is only 22F right now. I do enjoy the cooler temps when it is sunny, though. I'm sure I'll go to the grocery store later today in a short sleeved shirt and no coat.

received a call Saturday night that I'd better fly down immediately to LA

Anyway, as children of aging parents, we're at "that stage" of life now
and it's really hard to deal with, especially when I realize my kids will
have to deal with this some day...

    Keeping a positive outlook - it's a beautiful day in S.Califonia, I saw
on the news it may get close to 90 F this week. Winter, ha!

Yesterday evening we went to a neighbors house that had invited people from our cul-de-sac over. Also had gone bowling during the day, as my

Sounds social. Here we have neighbors either side of us that we have known for 18+ years now, they are pretty good to deal with and we look out for each other when folks are away on holiday etc. so it's nice.

There's a place across the street that is a rental and people come and go from there. I've tired to connect with some as time as gone by but it does vary in terms of success. Some just don't seem interested which is a bit sad.

bowling as in 10 pin bowling? I enjoy that, haven't done it ages though.

yeah it's mostly well embraced here by people and despite niggles of redress for wrongs from a long time ago, citizens celebrate the day and tend to look forward positively to further coming together of indigenous peoples and settlers... now, some 100+ years in, we're all mixed and intermingled with each other anyways. :)

When we moved here 15 years ago, we were one of the youngest couples in the neighborhood. Now I find myself being on the upper end of the age scale which is different. Not the oldest, but not the youngest.

The people we were with last weekend are all relatively new neighbors, as I think we are now one of the longer standing ones here. We were playing a "not so newlywed game" which I admit I was not crazy about at all, but it ended up being ok.

bowling as in 10 pin bowling? I enjoy that, haven't done it ages though.

We played duck pin bowling, which I think is a local thing around some parts here. I grew up with that style bowling and still prefer it, as does my son.

Well I'm working adding some new nodes today.

Earlier I was out with my wife and she's into op shopping so I drove around a bunch of second hand shops while she was hunting out some uranium glass..
it's stuff that glows under UV light that she's into at the moment.

It's winter over here in NZ so have been lugging in fire wood and getting the wood burner started a little earlier today as it's been cold! The city (Dunedin) is busy as we have an international rugby test match tonight at our stadium... All Blacks vs England... so a number of visitors to the city this weekend.. busy times.

Figured I'd post a 'hello' here as I've been a little quiet lately in my posting efforts but do keep an eye on the echos and still busy with fsxNet admin duties etc.

Thanks to Deon and Todd for all their efforts to keep NETs 3 and 2 ticking along - appreciate it guys :)

..and a general thanks to you for reading / taking the time to post in fsxNet. It's always nice to read echomail from around the planet and see who's up to what etc.

The recent food thread was massive, much like the lunch I had <-- bad Dad joke :)

You need to be a bit careful with that stuff. A lot of it is pretty low
level, but some of it is pretty radioactive. She got you running around
with the black light torch yet? I don't know any way to tell the more from less radioactive pieces.

On a seperate but related note there's also uranium based orange glaze on
some 30s pottery thats hiddeously radioactive, pretty much any deep
    red/orange glazing.

Yes to the torch light, but it's her doing that not me. I'm just the guy that drives between shops :)

Yes I was wondering about the radioactive nature of a bunch of it together. I wonder if I should find Geiger counter as a Christmas gift? ;-)

I think she may have one already... from what I can tell there's different types of UV light needed to shine on things to test if they contain X,Y,Z ?

The geiger counter might be more useful than tongue in cheek. I'm not aware
of any significant difference in wavelength of UV producing different fluorescence in the materials. All the examples I've seen with UV just highlight that the stuff is reactive, not how radioactive it is.
