I have "Word Search" by Sunrise doors installed here. I believe it's exactly what you are looking for... other then dos based.

This has turned into a bit of an obsession now. I've spent at least 2
days looking for curses based word search and came up empty. So I'm
going to build one, I'm about half way done with learning the curses implementation in Python, then it's time to work a puzzle generator.

Why is it slow? Do you source from CDs? Once the tune is
ripped and meta data added, isn't it just a simple matter to
store it?
