Awesome! thanks too for helping me get this site up and running.
now that i have this set up, i am hoping to get usenet and other
message bases setup, and the theme edited.
Currently, i have both a production bbs (the one i am writing from), and
a test bbs on a VM on my laptop, that i can use to test changes before
rolling out to production. Such as menu and theme changes. that way i
can make sure if something pukes, it doesnt effect the production side.
right now i am working on a theme for Hive32.
Thanks

Usenet is pretty straight forward, have a look at he docs in the info pack
and let me know via netmail/email when you would like a feed from the 1/10
HUB :)

to use useNet? i heard that they now charge a monthly fee...
also i would also like to get Fidonet up and running as well.
There is so much i want to do with my BBS. So far, i have had 2 of my co-workers sign up on my BBS.

Hi, I stopped by but the security levels were such that I couldn't post on FSXnet or leave a comment to the sysop. Looks good, though.

You probably want to talk to the people who run Usenet. Address mail to:
Usenet Central Administration
1060 West Addison Street
Chicago, Illinois USA
60613-4305
Allow six to eight weeks for a response.

I run my own NNTP server, there's no costs to you to use it via the gateway offered :)
also i would also like to get Fidonet up and running as well.
There will be plenty of folks who can help you with that also and/or offer feeds of echomail etc. if you want.
There is so much i want to do with my BBS. So far, i have had 2 of my co-workers sign up on my BBS.
It can certainly keep you busy! :)

Peering with the Usenet is pretty much like peering with BBS. You ask a news service administrators for peering and they will
feed you the newsgroups you need.
Powerful Usenet servers may charge a fee (since their business model is charging for data transfers, including to their users)
but text-only servers usually donñ t put much of a problem there.

Aioe and Eternal September used to be free. I think there were a bunch of others.
Some Polish ISP still runs one for free I think.

Hey that's very interesting. Thanks!
I found 3 that were "free" although you might've needed to create an account for access... Off hand I don't recall what they were now, I can check the suckrc if you're interested in more options.
I was using all 3 and letting the server sort out duplicates.

Awesome! thanks too for helping me get this site up and running.
now that i have this set up, i am hoping to get usenet and other
message bases setup, and the theme edited.
Thanks

Usenet is pretty straight forward, have a look at he docs in the info pack
and let me know via netmail/email when you would like a feed from the 1/10
HUB :)

Wow awesome. Ya this next week i will check that out. Does it cost anything
to use useNet? i heard that they now charge a monthly fee...
also i would also like to get Fidonet up and running as well.
There is so much i want to do with my BBS. So far, i have had 2 of my co-workers sign up on my BBS.
Thanks

I am yet to find a newsserver that is free, even for text-only newsgroups. I am very thankful for the feed via FsxNet and my Fidonet HUB in Finland that both work just fine.
