Who's behind The Burn? That's the big question for S3

Most definitely, still in the final stages of catching up (will be up to date in 2 hours), but I'm really enjoying S3 of Discovery.
I had read some reviews of episodes on space.com, and they did _not_ like the visit to the Vulcans episode. And feel that, in general, the season has had too much whiplash between various writers.
But I've enjoyed the season. Michael hasn't seemed _quite_ as one-note on crying all the time (emotion is fine. The same emotional response being sold as depth of feeling is boring.).
As you say, who knows if they'll see a season 4 (it doesn't seem like it's found its place in the pantheon of loved Star Trek series, but who knows?), but I think there's plenty for them to explore, and I'd love to see a couple seasons more of their adventures.

I thought they green-lighted season 4 already?

Same, I know the show has it's critics but at least it's something
fresh to watch from the Star Trek universe in 2020.
Well, we're up to date here, and yes, I'm certainly loving S3 of Discovery, and can't wait for the next episode.

The first of the two part episode I thought was a tad slow but hopefully it
will advance the storyline in a meaningful way :)

It works in reverse, too. When I see a kid with three or four rings in his nose, I know there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about that person."

If they had more budget to play with, it would have been good to have
a de-aged John DeLancie as Q in that role. :)

How did aging work for that character?
I mean, they could explain it away fairly easily, and just say that he was affected by The Burn or something.

I've always liked it because while I do look quite "normal", I've always been kind of a goofball.

I never really thought too much of the character either. It seemed to be aconvenient way for the writers to enable some rather far out there challengesfor the TNG crew to face.

Snap... we figured it was a Q like role also... it's really the only explanation we could come up with at this point.

Now that I think of it, having him drop in on Jean-Luc Picard might be interesting.

That sounds like one "for old time's sake". :D

Yeah that's pretty good. I can relate to it as well. :)

I got it - have him appear de-aged, look at Picard and decide to look
his real age, with some comment about how being mortal seems so
droll.

Oh my gosh, really? Q was one of my favorite! Especially loved when Janeway et all went to the continuum, to be judiciary for Q when he
wanted to be less Q.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mind Q and I thought the actor did a great
job ofplaying him in TNG. I just found it a bit to far out that such an entitycould exist in the ST universe and saw it as a plot enabling
device for farout stuff to be seen as credible.
Though I did enjoy the Professor Moriarty storyline about a computer program becoming sentient.
That's like some of those holodeck episodes (e.g. Dixon Hill) episodes, where "something" goes wrong
and the only way to get the crew out is to let the holodeck program run its course.

yes I remember that one also and agree... the sentience aspect really
made that episode.
I enjoyed them, though I guess I can see the criticisms that they didn't develop the character in the correct way for that particular growth to be entirely in keeping.
I did kind of wonder if they were planning a spinoff based on the
outcome of that episode.
I think the idea was that she was going to head up a Section 31 spin off series.. That could well have opened the door for that to occur. I don't think storyline will be a hurdle, rather it will be convincing business suitsto fund the series ;-)
