Folks I'm thinking an equivalent echomail area for German based chat
(like wedid for Spanish) may be a good option to add? Thoughts?

I wouldn't necessarily be against such a thing, but... how many
actual German speakers are present? Is there a high demand for it?
What I'm getting at is..... where do you draw the line? How many language echos will be added? Could be a slippery slope.

Oh I agree. You're right it's not like we have a ton of folks
conversing in another language. That said I find it a bit hard to
have to cut/paste stuff into translate to understand what is
being said... I figured perhaps it would be better to focus
non-english chat in to echos for respective languages (or I guess
it could have been a catch-all non-english echo?) Dunno.
In the case of the Spanish echo, we have only a few speaking
folks of that language and yet (from the sidelines) there seems
to be some use of it, so that's good.

Yes please. Love German food and German beer, but I can't read the language.
Regardless, I take it you love eating potatoes?

Meh. At that point, you may as well just keep everything in General.

Smother them in gravy, salt and pepper.
Yeah, that's something I just don't get.
I've never particularly liked gravy, and my enjoyment of salty flavor is limited to pretty much corn on the cob and hard-boiled eggs.
And about the only time I like (rather than tolerate) potatoes is with french fries, and _those_ I want to be diner-style fries with a some amount of ketchup.
I assume there's something wrong with me, as enjoyment of potatoes seems pretty universal.

Maybe x systems in a country where it's a predominant language?
With 'x' being 5 or something?
But I don't imagine it's much of a slippery slope -- if people
are speaking a non-English language enough that it's noticeable,
then that's a point when an echo might get added.
Which is not really a danger for most languages.

When I was young we ate a lot of potatoes I think because restaurants
were far away and we didn't have the $$$ to eat out a lot. We ate them most days. There are none in the house as I write this and I have no
plans to go get any. ;)
Soooo just ignore them? Have to admit I do my best trying to read them, but unless it sounds remotely interesting I won't translate them all.

Wie kommst du mit deutschen Kndeln zurecht?
Well, I think there are more suitable networks and echo areas for German posts by Memo - like the Usenet. And I'm hard working on it, but actually the polling doesn't work proper yet.
So postings by Memo will stop, and there is no need for an extra echo area.
The fsxNet is mainly a network for BBS sysops and BBS related topics I think, and not for common communications.

There seems to be more chat in german than english at present, perhaps we should make an FSX_ENGLISH channel instead and leave the rest for german speakers ;P

You're more than welcome to engage in the network but I do think the creation of a specific echoarea for German conversations would be the
best way to go (like we did for our Spanish speaking members).

To be fair, "FSX_GEN" seems to indicate that it's GErman ENglish, so what A>we're doing wrong is posting in only one language. It's nice that people hav A>had some messages switching back and forth in order to stay on topic.
