It's stupid because it manufacturers are purposely deciding not to build enough of the systems to keep the buzz high.  If Apple can make millions of iPhones for release, then Sony can make millions of PS5's.  They just
choose not to.
I tend to agree, though I wonder if they built more so that scalping them
was not profitable, then there would be left overs? I don't know.
It's sad though, after ebgames (aus version of gamestop) sold out of
preorders a little after midnight, you see people with several of them
selling on ebay. Same with target, there were 20 new game and watches on
ebay right after target sold out.
It was kind of cool with the Xbox Series X and PS5 launches seeing people
doing fake bids of like $100,000 just to screw around the scalpers.
Just wish there was some kind of law to prohibit that sort of thing like
there is for scalping tickets to events. (Well I think there is a law for
that isn't there?)
