    I just learned that NZ had a morning earthquake and warnings
    went out for the threat of a tsunami.

    Actually where I am had little involvement with it all (thankfully) as
    I am in the lower South Island on the East Coast where as the quakes
    were felt mostly in the North Island and the tsunami threats were up there. Phew ..

    It was a surreal day, reminded me alot of the earthquakes, media frenzy we experienced here in Christchurch 10 years ago..

    How bad was it on the mainland. I'd heard there were two 7's and an 8 halfway to Fiji or somewhere ... but those bigguns can go a long way.
