Hey all.

I'm just back home today so will be spending a few days catching up on things and seeing what admin stuff needs to be done for fsxNet etc. To those new
nodes who have arrived while I've been away - welcome. To the rest of the
group I hope this finds you well.

While visiting my parents my mum had a fall and ended up in hospital. I
stayed an extra three days to support both parents and check things were progressing in the right direction. She's been discharged now but is frail.
Not sure when I will next head up to visit them. It will all depend on how things roll out over the coming weeks and months. They live in the North
Island of New Zealand while I'm in the South Island so it's a case of air travel when I visit and I don't see them very often, especially since
Covid-19 appeared in 2020 :(

Right I'd best unpack this bag and put some stuff away. Did I mention I don't enjoy packing :)

Hey Paul, so sorry to hear about your mum. Glad you made it back safe,
and have been thinking about you as I heard about the earthquakes near
NZ, tsunami warnings, etc.

I'm flying down to Los Angeles area this month to see my mom and dad, as
my sister (who lives nearby them) tells me they aren't doing so well. Used
the same word: frail. My Dad is turning 82 this month. They have both had
their vaccine shots so I'm probably risking myself more than them.
Staying at a hotel and we will be outside with masks for my visit just to
be safe...

Anyway, welcome back and take your time unpacking, LOL, I hate that part
too :)

Actually where I am had little involvement with it all (thankfully) as I am
in the lower South Island on the East Coast where as the quakes were
felt mostly in the North Island and the tsunami threats were up there. Phew ..

Thank you :) Yeah unpacking sucks... and quakes also, but I was not in the danger zone this time so back to unpacking I go.. Hmmm..

Good move.. yes I was a bit torn about visiting my folks but it had been 2 years and I wanted to see them and when I heard my mum (we say mum over here,
I know others say mom, so use whichever works for you :)) was not good I knew it was time to go see them.

Then she had a fall while I was there and several unplanned days of 'what happens next in the hospital' rolled out... I'm glad she's home and hopefully will gain some strength over the weeks ahead. I hope (crosses fingers).

My dad passed away 5 years ago, and my mom moved a half a mile away from us after he passed. I'm fortunate to be able to check in on her, fix the things she'd try to fix on her own, and she gets to spend times with the grandkids and walk her grand-dog, as she calls my dog.

I'm taking her for her second Covid vaccine this morning, which will be a relief.
