Being quite fond of a certain style of comic books I put this out there.
Im not into superhero comics, mostly scifi, apocalyptic, antihero, etc.

Some titles which I enjoyed recently:
Middlewest, Huck, Farmhand, Carthago, Letter 44, Faster then Light, Ascender, Seven to Eternity, Last Flight Out, Redshift, Oblivion Song.

On my board I have a list with all the comics I read. Also I keep my League
of Comic Geeks account up to date. If you care to check it out check the
    board or below link.

So, how many of you 1) have the time and 2) actually like some form of comics?

    L8er,

I am not really into them, but I have a friend who has written a few. I
think they are all one-offs. The one I have read I guess could be called
an "alternate storyline" to one of Shakespere's works.

Probably hard to find, but can you forward the title? Will check.

I used to. But multiple things happened.

    1. I was exposed to Manga - which didn't treat its readers like morons and had much more complex story lines.
    2. The comic book industry here in the U.S. started to decline even further. This caused 2 problems: 1) a lack of stuff that was worth the money and 2) the closure of the comic book stores in my area.

Of course, Manga sort of imploded as well. I haven't seen much goodness in that
area in a long time now.

And the comic book stores are still gone in my area.

Akira is still my most loved Manga cartoon. Watch it at least once a year =).

Definately same here. Which is why I use League of Comic Geeks to see what comes out every week. And then the search starts, either I buy the
paper comic/digital download and when I the paper version I usually download the digital version to easily read on my large iPad with ChunkyReader. No
more being safe with dirty fingers ^^.

Comic stores closed here too. There is only large one left in Amsterdam but I feel its their own fault. In my comics shops the employees seemed to try to make me dislike either them or the store. They were socially inept or soemthing.

I think League of Comics Geeks shows connected stores in the US and some of them have mail subscriptions too.

Even if looking through the bins has something special I find most of the new comics just by browsing the sites and checking out the initial pages artwork.

We can probably make the argument that the people who work at comic book stores are very, very geeky (i.e. certainly on the socially inept scale). But my expereience with them was that they were comic fans, so we had something in common.

Fear agent looks well drawn. Noice, picking up some episodes see if it sticks =).

I don“t know. The comic store owners I know are very normal. They are comic geeks but they are not creepy weirdos, social inetps or anything.

They say that we users of retro tech are social inepts btw. :-P

Remembering back to the comic book stores I freqented a long time ago:

They seem to be owned by people with some business sense, but those people were also smart enough to have the stores be run by people with a passion for comic books, collectable cards, etc. And those people tended by be very geeky.

Talk to them about something "normal" and you'll get one syllable answers. But talk to them about their geeky passion and they'll get all animated and talk your ears off.

Isnt that a fact? ^^. When I was <16 yes no social skills. But they
definately improved later in life. Maybe because of me taking a break from computers and only going party every night in college.

Good to been in both worlds though.

    L8er,
    oP!

A couple of years ago, I was really into The Walking Dead series, until one day

I was picking up the next one at the local bookstore, and their was a 12
year old so excited about it, he just kept talking about how awesome the series was..it sort of made me question whether i was too old to keep reading it.

I stopped watching the TV series too, not because of the 12 year old, but because I would walk around the next day always angry at everyone for some reason.

I liked the horror/supernatural ones, like Tales from the Crypt, we had
a whole box of them we bought at a flea market back in the 80's spent
2 or 3 summers reading them all.

I have a couple... um.. that is, I have one room, completely full of
comic boxes and it's overflowing into the hall. :D

My main Youtube channel started as a way of connecting with comic geeks
all around the world, of which I have made a lot of very good friends in
the US, Australia, Canada, and the UK..

I've had an on/off relationship with Marvel/DC over the years.. Just
tried to get back into them and now that I have a job again I set up a
pull list again last year.. Was really enjoying the DC comics, but their
events and crossovers, and finishing storylines in different titles just
    did me in again.

I tried reading some Marvel comics again, and I am really not their
    target demographic any more.

That said, I'm trying some of the Star Wars comics.. read a couple so far
and they're ... meh... and Conan, which I have a few but haven't got
    round to reading yet.

Through the years I've always stuck to my old favourites of Groo, Usagi Yojimbo, and Conan (which was hit and miss while it was with Dark Horse
mainly because I don't like the way DH does a "mini series" per chapter
    of a story).

Swamp Thing and if it comes back, Animal Man, will be DC titles I'll
    stick to.
