Hey McDoob! I'm thinking we have a lot in common as well... I had a Sinclair TS1000 (an americanized zx81 - like I have to tell you guys!)... the C=64 and a long line of pc's that I build... I also just got my fsxnet and fidonet node addresses... Always good to feel like a newby now and again...

Like a lot of the people reading this message, I'm getting old...

I was born in the '70s (barely), and grew up in the '80s and '90s. I was in college before the turn of the century. But...

The entire school was stunned by the events of 9/11. I can still remember that day, just as well as I can remember my college girlfriend! (She was MUCH hotter than the flames that broke the towers. Redheads...)

Like almost anyone who can read this, a big reason I'm here is nostalgia. Honestly, my first memory is laughing at a screen that kept PRINTing "Fuck you!" and then GOTOing...well, I'm sure you get it...

All through life, I've been involved with computers. I've literally grown up with them. From that TRS-80 that I wrote my first code on, past the Commodore Era, and the 80x86 era, AND the Pentium era...I was there. It's very possible that I've either owned or been provided with (Thank you, Dad!) every
'personal' computer that has ever existed, before it became just a 'PC'.

My body is forcing me to slow down, now. My mind is...kinda pissed about
it...

The best moments of my life have involved either computers or early consoles (pre-PlayStation). Hell, I literally paid my way through university by co-authoring a SNES emulator. Anyone remember zSnes? Anyone remember the 'silent partner' that zSknight kept mentioning? Yep. That was me.

Even now, every night, I listen to the best songs from Final Fantasy. I literally cannot sleep without it. Because there was a time when I could hear nothing else.

Even that redhead couldn't get my attention, sometimes. Much to my eventual dismay...T_T

True. Although now that I've been back in the scene for a couple years,
it's really not about nostalgia for me anymore. I've got new friends,
wholly new tech and platforms to play with -- it's really quite amazing
to see this community evolve -- even while some parts stay the same.

One thing that's definitely changed, other than a handful of
higher-traffic BBS, we are mostly all Sysops these days!
