I think I've got food prep for tomorrow under control. My sister, mother and
I are doing a potluck this year, all I've got to make is au gratin potatoes,
a cole slaw, roasted brussels sprouts and host the family.

The hard part is that we have a 10:00am flight to Hawaii the following morning. It's going to be a long night cleaning up and getting ready to fly.

Sounds good, I'm hungry again and it's Christmas Day here and I have eaten already way too much ;-)

Here we also did a bit of a pot luck thing and prepped a bunch of stuff days earlier. Today has gone well, windy but sunny and it's still warm.

Are you really telling me that it's colder in the Okanagan Valley than in the Ottawa Valley? Because that would be a first!

I grew up in Vernon, not too far north of you (moved away circa 2005). And I definitely have a different memory of winters in that area. I specifically remember sweater weather for Christmas, more than once.

Then again, a lot of sh!t has hit the fan for you guys this year...There was
a time when I was worried that my hometown might get burnt down...

I guess you're getting as cold as you got hot, this year! (o_O)

It's a cold snap. Normally we would be around around +5 here at the end of December. We might see a few -16 days here.. in Febuary!

Yes, there were bad fires, not here but around here. The town of Lytton Was destroyed by fire. Very little if anything remains of the town. The town of Merritt was flooded just a few weeks ago. I think there will be big challenges for both of those towns now.

Bummer hummer on the weather... here we got a few good days but on the whole it's not felt overly hot or sunny here. I think further up the country and especially in the North Island they are getting better weather albeit somewhat slammed by too hotter temps. I guess I should be grateful I am not melting.

Can't believe another year is... almost over? Wow.

Last week or so I've been down an obsessive rabbit hole (like, manically focused on one thing, as I often do) with AMIGA emulation. I grew up with Commodores -- mostly Vic20 and C64 -- and the whole Amiga era really
passed me by as I owned mostly MS-DOS/WIN PCs in the 90's. But I was
always envious of my cool, artsy Amiga friends. Def. seemed like a much
bigger thing over in the UK than the US, but maybe just me?

So I want to personally thank (blame?) Paulie420 for igniting my latest obsession - with just a mention of "Pimiga 2.0 is out!" - shit, I was a
    goner.

I've built and config'd about 10 Amiga VMs--first with Pimiga (brilliant project), then with stock 3.1, 3.1.4, 3.2 Workbenches using WinUAE,
FS-UAE. It's like the easiest thing in the world, how did I not know it existed??

But I finally landed on a build I'll keep for a while -- I extracted
Pimiga's Amiberry guts and loaded them on WinUAE on my unused PC. Man, it SCREAMS, and no crashes from my beat-up Pi4! It's loaded with 1,000's of goodies -- games, music, videos, a terminal, etc. The maintainer of
Pimiga, Chris, is so amazing and deserves so much patronage.

Next step? The World of MiSTers... Maybe even some "real" 1200 hardware
if I can afford it. Probably not.

OH - so I'm trying to register CNET BBS, but not sure if the Future World
II Sysop is on holiday (probably) or if I did something wrong and he's
written me off :( Maybe someone knows the best way to contact? I've
registered on the BBS but jailed to the main menu, so I can't post on the support boards. But noworries.

Either, I look forward to joining the Amiga BBS scene and learning some
    new tricks from that community.

In the meantime, AlphaComplex.us:2323 continues on!

LOL we sound alike with this, I grew up in the Telecom world on a C64/C128 then went Amiga for a short time.. Currently I run a Image 3.0 (Had a hand in the writing of it) and a CNet Amiga board both in Emulation.. Check out Vice, for the emulation of the Commodores.. My Image BBS runs on a CMD SuperCPU 20mhz card, a CMD HD 4.1 gigs, CMD RamLink (though not being used), 38.4k Swiftlink, and of course the C64 all emulated.. It's just as fast as my PC board! Everything I wanted back in the day but didn't want to spend the money on!! In addition to all that, they also emulate the Lt Kernal which I run my NISSANet HUBS on.. The CNet Amiga board is also emulated on WinUAE with AOS 3.2.. It also runs fast, when I move my attention back to that board, I will emulate a PPC computer to run it to make it even faster..

I've built and config'd about 10 Amiga VMs--first with Pimiga (brilliant project), then with stock 3.1, 3.1.4, 3.2 Workbenches using WinUAE, FS-UAE. It's like the easiest thing in the world, how did I not know it existed??

LOL I have a "VM" of every AOS Operating system set up in a WinUAE on one of my computers. It's nice every once in a while to go back to Workbench 1.2 to see how far things have come from that to the new 3.2.. 4.1 is nice and fast but unlike 3.2 if you want to do anything you really need to buy the software. BUT PPC Emulation for 4.1 is outstanding!

But I finally landed on a build I'll keep for a while -- I extracted Pimiga's Amiberry guts and loaded them on WinUAE on my unused PC. Man, it SCREAMS, and no crashes from my beat-up Pi4!
