Haha, there is a six pack in the fridge for me for christmas day here,
it's from my father in law. Gosh it's tempting, but I know I'll get in
trouble if I touch it before then :P

    Hey

I've been busy. Got a new (to me) computer for running my OS on. It's an
old HP core 2 duo, cost about $40-50 I can't remember exactly. Anyway, I
put my os on it and it didn't work!

Turned out it was an issue that putting the SATA controller into IDE mode didn't put it into legacy mode but PCI-IDE mode (I guess). So I wrote an
AHCI driver, and now my OS works on it.

There are more bugs now though. I think it boils down to sharing IRQs and
I'm not handling shared irqs very well. I don't know. I've had too many
beers to figure it out today.

TCP/IP stack didn't magically fix itself. Well TCP. UDP works and IP
works, TCP is being a pain in the butt.

Looks like I've got a few new feature requests for talisman. I guess I'll
get to them eventually. Right now BBSing is kinda not on my top priority
list. Guess it's one of those phases where BBSing is kinda meh (or at
least I should say developing BBS software is)

Ah well. Ideally I'd merge these two hobbies and be writing a BBS system
for Quinn. But I have to sort out the bugs first.

Ah awesome, I think I saw some mention of this when I was skipping over messages in my haste to catch up..

It'd be cool to see your progress on Quinn via a Youtube channel. :)

That was me. :) All good, I don't consider any of them important. I just figured I'd put them up to save me forgetting them...

If anyone waited for their bugs to be sorted, there'd never be any
    software released! haha

I appreciate the work you've done on Talisman. It's definitely above and
beyond for free software of a decades old technology. :D Have a good
christmas and new year, and more importantly, a good *break*!

I think I may have the same (or very similar) machine upstairs :)

It's cool you can write it to sort the problem. Kinda like a modern day carpenter but you're working in code instead of wood. <-- this seems all rather deep for just one Jack Daniels and Coke. Just saying ;-)

There are more bugs now though. I think it boils down to sharing IRQs and I'm not handling shared irqs very well. I don't know. I've had too many beers to figure it out today.

My beers are in a beer fridge and I should not be touching them until Christmas... will I make it?

I have been a bit up/down too, really did little for a couple of weeks but also have tried to keep up with new node requests and also my wifes honey-do list... so yeah, time... where did it all go? :)

Ah well. Ideally I'd merge these two hobbies and be writing a BBS system for Quinn. But I have to sort out the bugs first.

That sounds like an interesting idea. I guess it depends on if that would cause you more fault tracking down issues or less? Dunno.
