I just discovered that The Search BBS was down for few days due to payment issue for the VPS it is running on. That has been resolved now.

When I logged in I noticed that the MRC Chat connection is timing out. I logged into Bottomless Abyss and noticed that the MRC Chat there was Offline
as well.

Does anyone know anything further?

Hey that's all good and I'm glad I could help you when you needed it. Yeah family is doing OK for the most part. I have a 21 year old son looking for a place to live at the moment. The housing supply is tight here and lots of competition for places for rent. He want to flat with 2 others so they are looking for a 3 bedroom home but it sounds like so is everyone else with 30-40 interested groups coming along to the public viewing sessions run by property management folks who administer the properties on behalf of landlords. It sounds a proper stressful time for him :(

That said if he needs to he could always move in here at home for a time but it's fair to say he does not want to and fair enough I guess.

That sounds as nutty as the housing market here, which Covid tipped over the edge. Rentals have always been tight, and I'll be glad to get out of the rental market. As for buying, houses here are known to sell in hours at or above the asking price, and when land goes on the market, people swarm like seagulls on a chip. And the prices are rising dramatically. Our land has already increased by at least 50% in the past year or so (good thing we bought when we did!), and the value of the house is going to be well in excess of $500k, possibly $600k, by the time it's finished. We've already dodged a lot of the price rises with the timing of signing of contracts, etc. Now it's all go for the build to start in January, after the Christmas break.

A lot of people have gone for a treechange, once covid made them realise that working from home was a possibility, and they could avoid the worst of lockdowns and disease transmission as a bonus.

Yeah the MRC server went down for the first time in like 3 years, right in the middle of a meatup too lol. It was a networking issue with the hosting provider apparently.

I had set up a backup one so that people could still chat on MRC, until the main server came back up, which it did after around 3 hours or so.
