    I mean, BBSs are the hot new technology, where you can avoid the awful pictures and algorithms for showing you content in the most addicting way they can think of.

    Really, we're just riding the wave to the future, with OS/2, BBSs, and an Amiga or two.

    what web browser you got running on it? ;) can you log into your bank account with it? log in to Discord perhaps?

    that's why we're talking about it past tense.

    without a modern browser it's pretty much dead in the water as a daily driver. firefox no longer builds for os/2 because of the RUST programming language (among other things) and if there was a rust version for os/2, iirc build-time memory usage pushes way past the max ~3.5gb of ram os/2 can address.. Windows XP builds have long been abandoned for the same types of reasons.

    worse for bbs users, the VDM in OS/2 is starting to break on newer hardware.. who knows if they'll be able to fix problems with that forever. they port DosBox to os/2.. that's likely the long term fix. Defeats the point of using OS/2 for it's superb DOS support IMO.

    i duno, i do really like os/2 but there are a lot of reasons it'll be relegated to running on old hardware or inside of VirtualBox only for hobby use. it's been dead since i started using it in the 90s.

    Isn't ArcaOS basically OS/2 updated for newer hardware?

    Yep! I have a license and have it running on metal. Not bad!

    Unless you own the older hardware that will run 3/4 then it is in the past!
