Not sure if anyone else here is part of the measurement team that supplies telemetry to these guys but I signed up the other day

    https://samknows.com/

They have a contract to provide internet measurement data for our New Zealand regulators.

More info about what I am involved with can be found at this link

    https://samknows.com/blog/help-improve-new-zealands-internet

From my end I get access to the tests running from my node in their testing setup and can therefore hold my ISP to far greater account to deliver what I pay for on my broadband plan... that and I'm a nosy bugger who likes to know how his broadband connection is performing. :)

Yeah you do get some interesting stats from the system. It's quite good and you don't notice it's there. :)

    Interesting.

Mine has only been in for less than a week.

The docs say it should way for periods of low cross traffic before it
attempts its testing but my network is always active with BBS and NNTP
traffic flowing in/out of the house.

Regardless the tests do still seem to occur at least once a day so I guess in the end there's a tolerance as to activity levels or perhaps some smart learning that goes on?

I'm kinda hoping that it will show over time that the so called Gigatown plan
I am on is anything but.
